Hi all. I'm pregnant with another BOY. My 5th boy. Little black BOYZ just looooove me. Unfortunately, ABM's not here to put a naughty joke out of that. (I miss ABM SO MUCH.) Anyway.... I love this little prince already!! He is NOT giving me any morning sickness ....no other symptons really. I'm not even that hungry. He's like a dream compared to the other 4 at this early stage. I miscarried my last child, Denzel Troy, so I have a lot of anxiety about the new baby. If it's not too much to ask...I would LOVE IT if some of you could post your ideas for a "name" on this thread. I haven't been able to think of one that really grabs me, mainly because I loved the name Denzel Troy so much---but I can't use that, because I talk to that child in that name and always will. Annnnnnd! Someone gave me the most fascinating new CD to listen to. My GOD!!!! I love it so much and wanted to tell you about it..... BUT.....it's by an AFRICAN woman singer ---in fact she's ALL THE RAGE in Europe right now and West Africa.
Rokia Traore
I can't understand a word she's singing (in Baman), but I LOOOOOOVE this CD so much...I play it all night working on my new book. The CD COVER:
ANYWAY.......you can go to Amazon.Com and listen to samples of the CD. It's fantastic MOOD MUSIC no matter what your language is. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002M5T9I/qid=1126580123/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-7519325-9714332?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
This woman is a SUPERSTAR!! (of course she'll never be heard of in the U.S.) ----but her voice is just AMAZING and her songwriting and her choice of instruments awesome. Can't rave enough about this CD.

Deebaby, thanks. Those are great names (especially Shomari!) but not quite not right. I'll keep listening for a good while, though. My other 2 sons were named by their father, and I didn't like the names he chose, so I'm really hung up with no idea what to pick now that I get to pick.

It's clear: God has chosen YOU as his "neo-Eve" to repopulate the earth w/ dark black males, who in turn will sire several generations of black children and save the black people from extinction! (all in good humor ) And for a name.... what's the Oromo equivalent of "Adam"?

You could name him Malcolm after your hero Malcolm X. Also, I've always loved the name Devante after the guy off Jodeci. I use to be ENLOVE with JODECI............

Kola, Name him Moses. I have a feeling he's going to be a deliverer of people in suffering . |

I love you guys!! Seriously considering "Malcolm"----but I want to WAIT and see what other names people come up with, PLUS, I need a middle name to go with Malcolm if I do choose that one. AQ---Davante is very nice. I never liked the name "Moses"--to me, it died it with the real Moses. And also, with "Malcolm"--that name means so much to me, it's like I can't see any man living up to it---BUT, I'm thinking of that. HEY ALL---my other sons are named: Arnofo Wombe If that helps. (their daddy named them) It DOESN'T have to be an ethnic name though---I love all types of names...of any language. Just want the right fit for my mouth. **Thomas doesn't believe in naming children after their parents and refuses to have a Junior put on the kids.

Somebody emailed me: "Kendrick" "Early" (I love that name!) "Roger" "Elliott" (huhm....Malcolm Elliott?) Whoever sent them, I really like all these names! There's a Swedish name that I like: Dag Although, I'll probably name a character in a book that and not my son. But I love that name.

Congrats, again. My vote is "Trey." If one of our kids would have been a boy, that was one of my picks--tho some folks I mentioned it to thought it sounded too "street." For me, I liked it because I like one or two syllable names for boys and because my husband is a junior but I didn;t want a "third"--this would have enabled us to use "Trey" and then one of my husband's/father in law's names as a middle name. And for you: third boy, so it fits there too. Plus, what's wrong with a little "street"? LOL |

Ohmygod. You could never understand, Yvette---but I love Malcolm Trey, because in Ahmeric language of Ethiopia they say Malcontray (fearless hero). WOW. I love it. Please everybody...if you have any more ideas, keep 'em coming. For now, I'm on the Malcolm and the Trey.

Dinka boy names: Bol (meaning born after twins) That's why I'm nyibol for a girl , Deng (meaning rain) Chol(meaning black), Ajang, Mabuir, Marial, Aguer, Dut, Kot, .. Those are the names that you might want to put into consideration. These are all Dinka names, but I think the Nuer tribe use them too. I really can't think of the other Sudanese names. But I think it would be nice for this kid to have a Sudanese name, since you love Sudan so much. Good luck Kola .

RE: the name - Kendrick I work with a fine brother named KENRICK (minus the D, that's a minor variation) and Trey! makes me think of "Boyz In the Hood" (Nia Long's character (his girlfriend) calling him after Trey's best friend was shot, and he's walking to his house all mad and bloody) Cuba Gooding was the bomb in that movie. How about - Johan Melekei
