Apparently you feel they are up to something OTHER than just being missionaries, spreading their religious views because they feel such is their calling. Is the fact that they are simply white and happen to be in Africa the issue or is there something more? What do you perceive them to be actually doing? How are they fooling anyone? What is the propaganda? |

Here's the propaganda: "They are sensitive to spiritual forces (real or imaginary)..." Uh? imaginary? "..for spiritual reason as well as in hope of finding a better life than their traditional nomadic lifestyle in the bush." And what, start wearing sweaters like the missionaries? "Until recently, illiteracy, adherence to traditions, and their remote lives on the edge of the Sahara desert have kept the Wodaabe Fulani people a distinct group, basically unreached by the Gospel." So they everything except literacy and the knowledge of these ppl's version jesus. Of the two, only ONE is crucial. My point: I become suspicious when missionaries come to my attention, and after looking at these photos, my radar went off. Missionaries like them DON'T want a compromise, they want to convert these people in their religion, practices, dress, and complete worldview. They're the last of the colonialism-era style missionaries who learn the ways of the people yet have a secret desire to rid them of such "primitive customs".

I agree, Roxie. Spare me all of those self-righteous Christian missionaries who want to seek out jungle heathens and "civilize" them, and lead them through the path of hypocrisy for a white Jesus' sake. |

Thanks. There's no argument here. I just thought I'd missed something other than what I had always known to be true about Christian missionaries. I was trying to determine what there was to be "suspicious" about but clearly, they're doing what they've always done. Nothing new. Nothing different. They just now have a broader forum in which to showcase their self-proclaimed successes as they bring converts into their fold. |

Hi ROXIE--- If those people truly wanted to help....why not just give those people all the Financial Aid they're giving them and let them run/build their own lives as they wish and see fit? What MISSIONARIES have always done....is set up the natives to be conquered. They come in--convince you there's something wrong with you, claim to be your savior, prove it by making all your hardships go away, teach you how to stereotype and be ashamed of your own family ---and then they conquer you, RENAME you and put a portrait of their White Blond Jesus Christ above you. Christianity and Islam are the very WORST THINGS that ever happened to Black people.
