Kola, I found this today.

"Palestinian Grandfather calls Black Grandson 'Monkey'...refuses to acknowledge
paternity."

Atlantic City, NJ (BlackNews.com) - According to 23-year-old African American mom, Krystal Surrency, Ellijah - the baby boy to whom she gave birth on June 4, 2003 - was fathered by Jason Salemah, a Palestinian-American with whom she had resided for two years. Proud to be a dad and happy that Krystal had given him his first-born son, Jason acknowledged and accepted paternity from the moment Krystal told him of her pregnancy. However, the baby's maternal grandfather SFC Gary Surrency, US Army Retired, said that upon learning of his daughter's condition, Jason's father Salebe' Salemah - a wealthy Palestinian immigrant and self-proclaimed Christian - exclaimed, "I'll not have that monkey in my family!" Krystal overheard Salemah make the comment to his son. "Mr. Salemah also said to Jason, "You always go to the hood and bring back hood rats" - referring me," Krystal remarked.

When his son was alive, Salemah consented to allow a DNA paternity test under the condition that he would not be responsible for the cost. Krystal agreed to have her infant tested and her parents endorsed the procedure and offered to pay for it so that the matter could be settled once and for all. Later, Salemah forbade his son to take the test, threatening to disinherit him.

Jason died in his sleep on Memorial Day 2005 of unknown causes, at least unknown to Krystal and her influential parents as Jason's father has kept autopsy results from them. Additionally, in spite of Salebe' Salemah's wife's desire to learn if she has a grandson, he now refuses to take the DNA test while claiming that Krystal's intent is to extort money from him.

Sgt. Surrency, who retired from the United States Army after having served 20 years, and his wife Millie are Krystal's parents and proud grandparents of Ellijah. They are long-time advocates for displaced children. For more than ten years they have taken in and helped to guide troubled kids. Stressing the importance of education, they have assisted several young people with college expenses. Sgt. and Mrs. Surrency were named among "Who's Who in America" in 2003 and 2004 and "Who's Who in the World" in 2003. The Rosa Parks Society and Southern Poverty Law Center will place their names on the Montgomery, Alabama "Wall of Tolerance" in November 2005 in recognition of their contributions to the advancement of tolerance in America.

The Surrencys have chosen to not only bring the parental dispute to public attention, but the hardcore bigoted attitude of the Palestinian immigrant, who is himself a minority in this country who should be grateful for the privilege of residing here. Sgt. Surrency said, "His comments sound like and sting just like those made by many whites in the "Old" and not so "Old South. The man is a racist who should be ashamed of his own behavior, not ashamed to have a black grandson."

Also grandparents to another mixed-raced child (Caucasian/African American), the Surrencys make no ethnic distinctions with respect to decision making of any kind. "I am quite angry and frustrated," commented Sgt. Surrency. "Not only does Mr. Salemah deny his grandson for racist reasons, but he derives a good deal of his wealth from blacks and other minority patrons." Mr. Salemah operates several family-owned businesses including a number of "The Sheik" fast-food restaurants, according to Surrency.

Surrency said, "We neither need nor want the Salemah's money. We simply want him to acknowledge his son's son, and allow the baby to know his father's side of the family." He continued, "My wife and I are more than willing to pay for the DNA test, but Mr. Salemah will not agree to it because he is afraid that it will prove that he the grandparent of a black child." Sgt. Gary and Millie Surrency have taken initial steps in the procedure to adopt their grandson to ensure he will have basic benefits like health insurance, and in order that they may provide for his financial future.

What I hate worse than white bigots are NON-WHITE bigots! Always the same thing, everyone equates "American" with "Whiteness" and always trample over us to to prove their so-called patriotism. While they CHOSE to come here and build this country, We were FORCED and made to build this country against our will, yet we apparently contrbuted nothing but crime to this nation according to these "newcomers".

It's like a family and blacks are the one child that has been neglected and ignored while the other children have been pambered and complemeted as the "favorite" children. Disgusting.

(excuse me, Ive been in a ranting mood lately)

Slow Poke,

What bothers me most about the story is not the behavior of the child's grandparents.

F*$% 'EM!

The kids probably better off without them.

The child's mother is who's pissing me off here. Why the HELL is she subjecting her child to people how view it to be a "monkey".

Dat $#*+ is CRAZY!

She need to make her final peace with the departed father of her child, gather together as many favorable stories and keepsakes about him as she can, share with her child the love they had...

...and then prepare herself to meet and fall in love with another, if that is her choosing.

THOSE are what's best for the kid. Not traipsing after some fool@$$ racist who just HAPPENS to share blood with the kid.

Roxie,

If you believe some of what Kola often says, you might determine that these kinds of sentiments PRECEDE non-White foks ever having set foot in the US.

Prejudice, bias and racism are NOT a uniquely American affliction. And Whites are NOT it's only authors and practitioners.

Roxie,

HAHA!

Touché.

Sometimes my inclination to 'preach' gets the better of me.

My point, though, is that the grandfather here probably would have done what he did REGARDLESS of whether or not he was in the US. Heck, if anything, were he elsewhere, he probably do WORSE.

Were he back in the Middle East, this young Black woman and child would probably be dead.

Many Black Americans become hostile towards me when I reveal that I am "for" Israel and not Palestine---which is SPLA policy, because Israel is the only ALLY of South Sudan in the war against the Arabs.

What they refuse to understand...is that I could easily find a Jewish husband in White, Racist ISRAEL...

...but could not find a husband and be married in tanned, under dog PALESTINE (where they sterilize black women..before using them as fuck cushions). Of course if one is a Black male--then they marry you off to their "club-footed" niece or whatever Arab woman they find unmarriageable--but not to a black. They don't want MORE of that born, you see.

I've been telling this for YEARS...and been called a LIAR by Farrakhan and all manner of other Black Americans.

Interesting, where I am everyone's against Israel's refusal to acknowledge a separate palestinian nation but then disaprove of the palestinian's continuation of terror and corruption.But that's politics.

However when it comes to race relations, some americans are basically infatuated with Israel's image, kinda like a fan to a celebrity. They are unable or unwilling to see the unflattering sides of that nation. The minute they hear that their are Falashas and Black Palestinians they automatically assume those people live with their respective "White" counterparts in some happy racial harmony.

~~~
But really, Roxie...what nation on earth doesn't have an unflattering side?
Isreal's unflattering side is no worse than America's unflattering side. There is racism in both countries---but atleast men and women can attend public concerts TOGETHER and not have to go on different days.
SUDAN (along with Ethiopia) is the mother of Israel. We have 2 million Falasha in Sudan. We are also the mother of the ARABS--our bastard child who hates us, because he looks MORE like us than like the Greeks and Sea People.
The CUSHITES you AAs revere so much were a HEBREW people. So was Jesus Christ.
I have lived in ISRAEL and I would not live in Palestine.
Like most Black North Africans, I neither like nor support the Palestinians.
Hitler too supplied arms to north African countries and Egypt to fight British colonialism during the second world war but that did not mean that they had to support fasicm or Germany's genocide towards others.
Anunaki,
Provocative analogy. Though, I think it's only valid to the extent one believes the size, scale and depth of Israel's acts against the Palestinians is commensurate with those of the Third Reich's against...the WORLD.
What about Palestine's acts against African people?
Palestine and Iraq both purchase Sudanese slaves. Israel does not.
Palestinians openly refer to Africans as "abeed" and "nigger", as though it's their name.
The Palestinians sterilize black women to keep black children from being born.
You think I give a damn what Israel does to Palestine? You think I would place an Arab nation above Israel, when it's Israel that keeps those evil satanic people from complete domination?
You think Swahili is an African language given to us in frienship?
You must be crazy.
And I am not against Palestine having their own country (legally).
I just don't like them....and I DO like Israel, which is no worse than America race-wise.
Kola,
To be honest with you, my only concern about the Israelis/Palestinian conflict is all the hubbub about/around it seems to endanger those of US who have NOTHING at all to do with it.
Otherwise, I really wouldn't care much at all what happened there.
Because the truth is there's a enough land there (and elsewhere) on the Earth for sane people to live with and near each other. So I can't countenance people using religion, hysteria, myths, hatred and racism to eschew devising some form of peaceful resolution to a situation that has resulted in the unnecessary deaths of so many.
Anunaki: --Hitler too supplied arms to north African countries and Egypt to fight British colonialism during the second world war but that did not mean that they had to support fasicm or Germany's genocide towards others.--
Whoa! that's interesting! Makes you look at Hitler a little differently. Is this one of the reasons Idi Amin admired him?
Kola: --You think Swahili is an African language given to us in frienship?
You must be crazy.--
That's why I never celebrate Kwanzaa, among it's other blatant innaccuracies.
But I do understand your view on taking the lesser of two racist societies. We have done a good job taming some of the white people haven't we? :-)
However they way those Religious Right people and megalomaniacal politcians are influencing the current Admin., I worried if This nation will one day evolve to a Theocracy like N. Africa (and Iran and 17th cent. Salem...)
Abm: --To be honest with you, my only concern about the Israelis/Palestinian conflict is all the hubbub about/around it seems to endanger those of US who have NOTHING at all to do with it.--
The same argument can be used against,uh,Hell, just every war the US has been in after the war of 1812.
Roxie,
I think World Wars 1 and 2 were probably worth our trouble, especially the 2nd one.
And what would OUR lives be like had there been no Civil War?
I am not a kneejerk peacenik. Sometimes foks get out of line and you've gottah stop'em...or kill'em.
But the problem I have with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is it's been going on for 50 years, 100,000’s have been killed, it has incited mass conflict and terrorism throughout the world and all that results from squabbling over a sliver of land that's smaller than New Jersey.
I was thinking of the irish immigrants when I refered to the civil war, who were recovering from their own problems. Everyone had their reasons for partcipating in those wars, ESPECIALLY us, but in the case of Blacks during Vietnam, there were bigger priorities than what was going on at the time.
Roxie,
Had the Civil War NOT occurred, there would have been NO America - as WE know it to be - for the Irish (Jew, Polish, Italian, etc.) to enjoy. The Civil War MORE than any other event VALIDATED American justice, rights and freedom.
