Hello Kola Hope you don't mind me posting this over here. But, the people in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, one of our oldest all black towns really needs some help. Also, Congrats and Best Wishes for the ceremony! Linda Hello Everyone. Let me first say "Thank You" to those of you that have contributed so far for the drive to aide Mound Bayou, Mississippi in their efforts to retain/rebuild and revitalize the town. The funds are deeply appreciated. However, it has not produced as much revenue as we would have liked to begin the projects. With gas sky-rocketing and groceries more expensive I understand the difficulty in making large donations. But, it you could even send a dollar it would help. Below, I have pasted a letter sent to me with the current dilema in Mound Bayou, Mississippi and agin, I am asking for your help. For those of you who don't know me or remember me (smile) my name is Linda Watkins, author and reviewer for African American Literary Book Club (AALBC.com). I may be contacted at Linda@aalbc.com. Please send all funds to the address within the letter and . . . please pass this on to as many people as you would like. Lets show that as the writers of the past, present and future that we are on the right track for humanity! Humbly Linda Watkins Author of Althea AALBC.com Reviewer Hello, My name is Eulah Peterson, and I am the president of the Historic Mound Bayou Foundation. Mayor Johnson asked me to e-mail you about the emergency fund raising effort we have launched to try to acquire the historic Booze home in an auction sale. The sale is scheduled for April 28, 2005. We learned about the opportunity only recently, and we feel that the Foundation should make the effort to preserve the oldest brick home. We need to raise $25,000 in order to be able to make a viable bid. We believe this amount will put us in a good position to succeed. Myrna and Mayor Johnson have shared with me some of the assistance we have already received from you. We are asking if you can help us in this effort. If you can, tax-deductible contributions may be made to: Historic Mound Bayou Foundation and mailed to Post Office Box 23, Mound Bayou, MS 38762. We need to get any contributions by April 18, 2005, if possible. This will allow time to prepare for the sale. Please let me know if you can assist us in this effort. I very much appreciate what you have already done for our hometown. Thank you! Sincerely, Eulah L. Peterson |
