Hi all.

I have been incredibly busy writing a 6 month STORY BIBLE for the Lily-Daniel-Druscilla-Neil Winters storyline on "Young and the Restless".

This STORY BIBLE (to be about 200 pages) will determine whether or not I am hired to write for the show.

NOTE: I am not "in" yet.

Originally I was just trying to write Scripts for the Head Writer and Breakdown Writers----but it now appears that I might actually be considered for a much higher writing position.

The money on these shows is so huge that you just can't turn it down. It would give me TOTAL financial independance from Thomas.

I am in daily contact with Columbia/Sony and the Producers of both "Young and the Restless" and "Days of Our Lives".....and they are extremely nice people and find me to be a fascinating person. The Producer at "Days" is actually reading my autobiography--his wife was from Morocco!! :-)

I have had one "writers session" at Columbia/Sony where the writers sit meet for lunch and plot the "execution" of the coming month's storyboard. Everyone made a big deal that I was "Osama Bin Laden's mistress!"---and one white guy that I really like chatting with said that I look more like a soap actress than a writer. :-)

He said I should be cast a slut/villainous. :-) HA HA!!!!!!

I am not, however, HIRED as yet to work on either show. If given a choice, I would actually rather work on "DAYS".

But pray for the "networks" to not be afraid of me and the producers to be able to appreciate my ideas.

I would rather work on "Days of Our Lives" because it's lower rated and has more room to be creative.

"Young and the Restless" is the #1 show and is SET. You can't really make alterations--just write on to what's been written and there's no room for promotion.

Excuses, excuses. You're not the only person around here who has other more important things to do. You could at least pop in and argue with somebody or just go off on one of your crazy rants every once in awhile. LOL!

But really - I think it's very exciting for you to get to work on a soap. If you are chosen it will be wonderful, and if not - there are a million other opportunities out here. Okay.

So stay pos-i-tive

You can go back and mine that soap opera thread you were doing a while back for ideas, too. Put in some African characters. You know, some Rwandan woman that they think might have been connected with the genocide (and is being investigated) who starts coming on to a WHITE woman's husband or two and also has a lesbian lover and a child she left over there who is HIV positive who shows up to accuse her--

You know. Everyday Kola Boof slice of life kind of stuff

OK,

I am now certain that I will be writing for one or all of the Columbia/Sony Pictures soap operas (Days of Our Lives, Young and the Restless and Bold and the Beautiful).

It will be several weeks (mid-May), however, before I am given an official title and told exactly what I'll be doing and on which show.

I start in Mid-May and my work will first appear on t.v. in July.

I will have a Show and Working Position in Mid-Way.

I'm being tutored right now how to do Breakdowns, which is what the Associate Head Writer does with the Head Writer's 6 month Story Bible.

It's very complicated, all the work that goes into creating these simple looking soap operas.

I believe that I will be either an Associate Head Writer (Breakdown Writer), a Story Consultant or a Script Writer.

SELLING OUT

The amount of money they pay is mind-blowing as the Head Writer usually makes $300,000 a year and the entry level Script Writer makes about $6,000 a month (that's $2,000 a script). So you can understand why I'm ignoring those people who say I'm selling out.

My thing...is that I want to make movies about black women. So it's good to be employed as a writer by a Major Studio (Columbia/Sony) as it could make it easier for me to get financing for my independent films and also make other connections.

People seem to really be charmed by my vulnerability, intelligence and passion---and I can eventually do more for Black women with Films (Visual Images) than I ever could with books.

This is an image-based society.

"Selling Out"? o_O'

Uh, how can those losers think you are "selling out"?

Hollywood needs more black women writers.

If our image is ever gonna change, we gotta get in there and change it ourselves.
