OUTREACH TO AFRICAN AMERICANS H.R.H. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I, the Omukama of Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom, wishes to extend an arm of friendship and brotherhood to our African-American brothers and sisters in the United States of America. We would like to assure them that Bunyoro-Kitara is still their home and they are welcome to visit and stay anytime. In their plans to visit their homeland, they should include Bunyoro on their itinerary; because this is the home of the mighty King Chwa II Kabalega, who fought the British to maintain the liberty, freedom and self-determination of his people. We would like to cultivate a lasting cultural and business relationship with our African-American kindred. We are, therefore, inviting them to come and join us in joint business ventures, learn more about our culture, teach in our schools, and experience their African culture for sharing with others at home. Very few of our people have ever met or interacted with an African-American. We know very little about these people who are, in every way, our own people. Most of what we hear and see portrayed in the media is stereotypical and less than positive. We invite our brothers and sisters to come and set the record straight. Most of what they hear about Africa is very negative and ill informed. We are asking them to give us a chance to set the record straight. We want to show them the Africa of their dignified ancestors, of which they should be proud. For our interested brothers and sisters, you may direct all your inquiries to Dr. Charles Kanyarusoke, Personal Representative of the Omukama, on the telephone numbers or e-mail address listed below: kanyarus@iup.edu (724) 357-3773 (work) (724) 463-6178 (home) Bunyoro is a kingdom in Uganda. |

That's a very nice message. I seriously wish I could go, but my husband and mother would have a heart attack if I leave the country to go anywhere. It's nice to know we're welcome there, and I hope that everyone who wants to go gets a chance to do so. |

That's about 5 African countries now that have "return home" programs for blacks in the west.

I wish I had the money to go. Black ppl here in the states are so "niggerized" that they could care less about there African Brothers and Sisters. And of course you will never hear about any of this in the Amercian Media. I guess the slave master still wants to keep us on his plantation. |

Where is this kingdom suppose to be located at? What country? You can't seriously expect ANY American to hop on a plan and travel to another continent with so little information! |

It's in Uganda as stated in the post. And no one expects us to go there. Nanganda wrote: "In their plans to visit their homeland, they should include Bunyoro on their itinerary" Meaning that if you are going to Africa anyway, please stop on by to meet your ppl. |

Ghana and Kenya give you a free house, free land and pay you a stipend if you choose their "return home" programs. There's a lot of expats in those countries. I hear they have a whole US Black town in Kenya now.

Ghana was wonderful despite a few exchanges with some men and some overt discrimination from women. I got passed it. Will be going there again in 2007. |

Does this invitation include gay black Americans who are interested in returning to Africa? My guess is 'NO GAYS ALLOWED' |

I personally would like to know what we as blacks have accomplished so much in this country that we don't even want to give our homeland a try. What do we have to look forward to in this country. Racism, poverty. Gee! Those sound like fun! Rolleyes |

Hey Sailor, I think that you (AA's) are toooo used to a hunderd and one flavors of ice-cream, Micky-dees, doritos, etc to be happy or travel to some place out-of-Amerikka. Some cannot go further than fifty meters away from their crack pipe let alone go to Africa (no crack available). Others will miss TV too much and will not stand being away from their daily Oprah fix. Those who worship at the altar of Holywood will not find their favorite temple to worship at in Africa. A friend of mine (AA) came to visit and spent a lot of his money buying potato crisps and looking for hamburgers to eat instead of eating wholesome food. I almost put him on drips to ween babylon out of his system. Africa is not for everyone. Only Black Mambas should come home. Heee hee hee. |

I totally agree Anunaki. I don't think PEOPLE can simply "un-Americanize" themselves in the course of a 12 hour plane ride! This American way of life is all they know, its just as "normal" to them as being in Nigeria is to you! |
