Is anyone here looking for/considering spring and summer fashions right now? What colors and styles will be in for the coming seasons? What about hairstyles and jewelry? |

LOL I love this. I've never ever been the type who was up on the "seasonal" fashions....I never wear jewelry. Noticed that my ears aren't even pierced? LOL Summer, for me, means that I'll be walking around the ranch with no shoes and just a long skirt on more often. My sons run all over the grounds naked in summer. They like me to keep their hair braided in summer, but the younger one just got permission from TomTrojan to shave all his off. He wants a little tail in the back of his head. I told him....at least put the tail on the top-to the side of your head, like an Egyptian. But no. He wants to look like his cousin, so I said fine--ask your father.

I used to wear large African clothing that was way too large for me (it lets air in). I can't wear that now because it's too much of a hassle in the heat while carrying a heavy child, so I have to start buying clothing that FITS. So far, I've bought a skirt and a top and some spectacular lip gloss. I'm going to the salon tomorrow to get a texturizer touch up and a haircut (to maybe shoulder length) and a pedicure so I can start wearing sexy summer shoes. Other than that, I can't say how much I'll be buying, because my husband has to give me a budget (which I usually go over by 40.00 anyways). I already have a spring/summer perfume. I'm excited about going out to the malls and other places because my 18 month old son LOVES going for long walks all over town! I'm thinking of buying shades of pink and lavender, because I need some color in my wardrobe...I have too much black clothing! |

I LOOOOOVE lavender. Love it. That's my AA mother's favorite color and in Africa.....it's the symbol of the Black woman---the most breathtaking of the African violets (the one that grows on the White Nile) is lavender.

I like the color, but I wonder if it will look good on me. Dark west African women look SPECTACULAR in lavender and pink (especially those lacey Ghanian clothes), and I'm not so sure I can pull that color off quite as well. IMO, people usually look better in colors that highlights their skin color, hence light people wearing dark colors and dark people wearing light colors. On second thought, maybe I should buy prints, since my son is always dropping/wasting stuff on me. |

I wish I could wear a long skirt, but I usually end up STEPPING ON THEM, especially when climbing steps! |
