*Please spread the word, send others the link PROOF MAGAZINE: http://proofmagazine.i8.com/index.html ONE DAY...this is going to be on newstands, I'm determined. NOTE: If you're a regular in the KOOL ROOM, then you've already read a lot of it. But there's some really great stuff that you haven't read, too.

Kola, I've read several of PROOF's articles. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You and the other PROOF creators/supports appear to be off to a fine start. Of course, I adore your writing. It is such a treat, it is difficult to imagine what reading would be like without the potent clarity of your voice. Your involvement ALONE should make PROOF wildly successful. And I especially enjoyed reading Alicia Banks article, though I find some of her views to be somewhat confusing, if not contradictory. She abandons a straight Black male friend who married a White women AFTER he'd previously dated many Black women yet honor a (departed) gay Black male friend who REFUSED to date other Black men. And she claims to embrace kin/friends of her's who are in involved interracial couplings (IRC) YET repudiate those whom she deems are being dishonest about why they are involved in such relationships. Does she require all IRC with whom associate to declare some color bias that they may NOT, in fact, possess? Can she REALLY divine the true source/purpose of love one Black person feels for a White person (and vice versa)? If so, I'd find that to be particularly INTERESTING given I've sure she's had to frequently rebut similar conjecture expressed by straight people about why she's lesbian. I appreciate Alicia candor on the issues of color and sexuality biases. But I think her commentary characterizes just how unwieldy these issues are, even amongst those who would appear to profess some unique maturity and enlightenment about such matters. |

WOW ABM. You made my week. I love you so much. And please, Destined...don't take that the wrong way. I just become a little girl being hyped with "approval"--which inspires me to become better--whenever ABM , because he's a Black man and he's a rare certain type---like my dad---encourages me and dares to understand me...and MOST OF ALL....accepts me. So please don't misunderstand. There are TONS of men who email, talk on the phone, chat on Message board with me----I just spoke with Troy Johnson on the telephone at like 1 in the morning, and his wife picked up--I felt so bad; so much guilt....even though it's strictly business.... ...it hurts so bad that women don't trust me and I try to talk a certain way---to sound less "sexy"; hell downright hoarse, because they see me a certain way. They have not understood how much I love THEM and are most loyal to THEM---because I know EVERYTHING about our pain as women. Everything. Whatever piss was pissed on them---I was SOAKED in it. So I know not to hurt other women. The flirting is my insecurity and my way of pleading with men to protect or help me. But I am powerful enough NOW...not to be exploited in serious ways by them. So please don't misunderstand it when I say that I love ABM. I just really have always been crazy about him---but I have BROTHERS in my family, and they are spoiled rotten by me, and I kiss and jump all over them and ride on their backs. It's nothing at all. TO ALL: I was reading my autobiography last night...and I became very proud that I admitted in the book that I am "sick" and have mental illness from all the myriad things that happened to me.....but yet, I continue on --to be productive and do good, meaningful work that I can be proud of. I endeavor to be ABOUT SOMETHING and to do it without fear (because that is my sickness--I am an exhibitionist who has little fear)....which also means, it is harder to keep the "child" in me under control. Thanks and God bless to all of you. |

Also ABM... I am the one and ONLY worker on PROOF. The novelist Nnedi Mbachu and writers Alicia Banks and Terry Howcott donated stories for me to publish. Chinweizu donated his lecture. But when I make it a regular magazine--I will have a staff headed by Ajowa Ifateyo as EDITOR. SHe's SO brilliant.
