I am reminded while talking to a couple guys at the Jiffy lube, that some blacks, even those with degrees, still believe that africa has no wealthy people, africans only have the broad noses, peppercorn hair and chocolate skin, and that the entire continent (not a select few nations) is riddled with AIDS.Even worse, many still fall for the "we must help our muslim brothers" fiasco and focus all their worry on Iraq and Afganistan and know NOTHING about Sudan. Other black people actually think Ray Nagin was stupid and still think that "we should be bringing people together, not separting them."
[*rolls eyes*]
Even in one of my classes, some cynical hawaiian kid bitches about his trips to Africa doing charity work and ,as many do, by referring to the continent and never the few select nations, he perpetuates the myth that all of the African continent has the worst case of AIDS he's seen. Yet this kid admits never being to India, and that nation that now tops South Africa in the AIDS population. And of course, the black
students take his word as canon because he's "been there". Morons.

But, were they working at the Jiffy Lube? Because they may have Jiffy Lube levels of education. Not knocking Jiffy Lube or mechanics in general, but they are probably not reliant upon book learning but televised images. |

Roxie, you are lucky that students thinking has improved by about 1% since I was an undergrad in Los Angeles. During my time, I was even asked if Africans lived on trees. My answer was always "yes" and I told them that since my mother loved me so much, she offered the longest branch to me as my crib. Let the sleeping dogs lie and live in la-la land. |

Black Americans are niggers like Kola said. A friend of mine who works in the television industry and has all-white friends has the nerve to get mad a Ray Nagin. I said what Ray Nagin said was true. He got mad at me and said that other ppl(non-blacks) got hurt as well. He also said that we should be trying to unite ppl. He is my friend but he is a typical dark-skinned house-nigger who constantly make demeaning jokes about dark-skinned black ppl, and worships light-skinned black ppl. |

Kola, you must remember that our country has taught us to be niggers. Unlike you were are the desendents of slaves. Our minds are still in the slave field. You can't just kill the problem you have to get to the root of it. We have to start teaching our sons not to be niggers. We have to teach them to have respect for themselves. |

These guys I spoke to were waiting for their car too.
However, one guys at the front Desk admitted that he was working there while he was attending Graduate School as a Business Major. Of course, my mother (who was with me) grabs the guy's number for my single cousin (also a business major. :\ |

i agree this country has a long way to go especially the afam population. i see much more racism coming out of this group than any others and it's been this way for years.....i hate to say this, but i think looking and living in the past has alot to do with it....it's time to move on....ex: black women should stop hating on actors in Hollywood who have taken a white wife...so what? if we're all to be created equal, what's the harm? we've got to move on and start treating each other and others like equals UNTIL something has been shown otherwise. |

I'm not against interracial relationships.
I just don't believe that what we're seeing in America is "interracial love".
I believe it's an EPIDEMIC of self-hate.
That's my position, because I myself have been involved in interracial relationships, and do believe that about 3% are true love.
