Poetry Extravaganza is a free-to-the-community cultural arts event hosted by Collected Voices and C.A.A.P.A., Inc. which takes place at the MLK, Jr. Memorial Library.

Details:

Sistah Joy, Billye Okera and Ladi Di, the sisterhood of poets known as Collective Voices, will be the event hosts and will also present their original poetry at this year's 12th Annual Poetry Extravaganza.

The Poet of Distinction for this literary Extravaganza will be Washington, DC Poet Laureate, Dolores Kendrick.

Featured Poets include nationally renowned "13 of Nazareth," Brenardo and Chris Fields a.k.a. "The Poetry Man."

The Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers will perform throughout the celebration. This year "The Saul to Paul Project" and gospel artist, Chris Fowlkes will also perform.

This literary tribute which honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will take place at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library, Lower Level, Auditorium A-5.

Guests are encouraged to meet, greet and support the participating artists during the brief book signing and reception that concludes the celebration in adjoining Exhibit Hall A-2.

This is a FREE-TO-THE-COMMUNITY celebration with "general seating". Seats are available on a first-come, first served basis.
