The other night I was laying up and heard a sound and realized my descriptions of the sounds of my Hood--there at the corner of Fair and Kossuth, have been incomplete.

Not a block from where I stay is a large complex of fish ponds. Around now they are home to hundreds of Canadian Geese.

Different times of the day, you can hear them flying overhead and honking--so, along with the usual ghetto sounds, the honking of geese.

Only in Da Lou.

By the way, nobody ever messes with the geese.

Geese are very strong and very territorial--and much bigger up close than they may appear to be from a distance. And, of course, there are always so many of those things.

I think you'd be better off scraping with Rabbit the Pimp than the geese in your neighborhood, Chris. :-)

Canadian Geese are making news around here because people in the 'burbs have been finding the slaughtered remains of these birds around their neighborhoods. Very mystifying...
