Hello Imtiredowaiting,

I am also tired, and I am somewhat riding with you but the premise to your piece/post/argument/... is sorta flawed.

A bible, by definition is a book comprised of several smaller books. If that's true, someone might say, "who's bible" and "who's the real terrorist"? You were there when you mentioned Ali's refusal to viet in Vietnam.

Anyway, yes, Nicotine is a drug and Cigarettes are just as harmful (if not moreso) as the so-called illegal drugs.

Money is at the root of this evil. You don't want to hear me preach but I will say ALCOHOL is also in this boat.

i don't mind knowing what your point of view is Carey...in fact I'm grateful for your response to my post.

you are right about money being at the root of the tobacco thing...some want it so much that it does not matter to them how they obtain it.

alcohol when consumed to excess causes harm but drunk in moderation is not a problem.

i used to consume alcohol to excess because i have a nervous disorder which makes me inclined to trembling and panic attacks and a constant feeling of nervousness...Ozzie Osbourne the famous rock singer has a similar nervous problem.
i only started smoking because cannabis helped to calm my nerves but i stopped smoking and using drugs now but the nervousness remains...i now take medication for my nerves.
some days like today my entire body is stressed and i cannot relax, and i feel down but some days its not so intense.
but i would never smoke again...i was born damaged with nerves problem why should i create another health problem by smoking?

the bible doesn't explain why god created the plant from which tobacco is formed into cigarettes?

(They didn't have tobacco in that part of the world then.

after all when one considers the harm it has caused to those that consume it, should it be an acceptable lawful part of human society

(When used right in moderation tobacco is not harmful. Anything used in excess is deadly. You can drink too much water. Breathe in too much air.

Just relax. You gonna have to be calm. It's gonna get rough around here in a minute

Hello Tired Of Waiting,

I am glad that you didn't view my reply as something negative.

In reference to Ozzie, his condition (I believe) was brought on by another problem. He's presently on an highly addictive drug called Medthadone. The dose he takes could kill 10 people.

I disagree, but we don't even want to go there. Isn't that like saying a few cigarettes aren't that bad? Really, when you think about it, the slippery slope starts at the top of the hill.

It's good to see that you are driving through your storm. Some individuals stop before they get to the other side. And like you said, they compound their problems by going back or staying in their mess.

In some sense, I too was born damaged. But I think you will agree that there are answers to our problems. I hear your voice of gratitude. I also hear you saying that you've found your mistakes (tough for most to admit)and accepted them.

Btw, 3 days ago I wrote a post on the Holy Bible. One of these days you'll have to drop by.

Well, Imtiredowaiting, you could say the same bad things about automobiles which pollute the air and are responsible for thousands of accidental deaths and crippling injuries every year.

Nowadays everything is bad for you including processed food and tainted water. But people are not interested in leading a Spartan life in an agrarian society. They choose to do what they want to do, instead of what the they need to do. And it's their right to do so in a free industrialized society.

Moderation is, indeed, the key. Even when it comes to cigarettes. Smoking half-a-pack a day has not been proven to be as harmful as the 2-and-a-half pack a day habit on which the dire statistics are predicted.

Get real. You have a right to your objections but you don't have a right to judge others and demand that they adhere to your individual preferences especially since you sound like an odd case.

BTW, America still has an all-volunteer Army so nobody is forcing young people to go and fight in foreign lands. A lot of those doing so are out-of-work "pariots" and gung ho warriors who subscribe to all of the propaganda about keeping America safe from terrorist by waging war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You need to update your mind-set to 2009.

From where does the tobacco seeding and plant originate?

Perhaps there were or still is some broader ecological benefit for the existence for tobacco that does NOT involve human beings consuming it to the point of injuring and killing themselves.

Yes, Imtiredowaiting, I'm being judgmental. It takes one judgmental person to know another one.
