O Yes I seen da rappers Seen em lurking on the front porch trying to sell their food stamps Seen them trying to pool change to get a couple of blunts Seen them scouting the gutter for change to buy a 32 oz can of Millers I seen em, allright. Back in the day at least the soul men had jobs--lucky they are that they don't need instruments. I seen 'em when they was past their prime. Trying to keep that dream going even though everybody know I seen some of them with talent and it won't make no diff they ain't getting theirs I seen them selling blood to keep up that dream I seen back behind the screen back behind the bling I seen a fierce dedication and loyalty to a most democratic of art forms O yea I seen dem all right |
