well, well, holly(white)wood, stands by, and applaudes more "wild, abusive, un-healthy, low-income, inner city dwelling black people", who are involved in all sorts of "savage behavior".

it seems like these are the only type of "black films" that garner any type of "attention" from "hollywood".

WHY? because the "white world", LOVES seeing "black people" potrayed as "rapists", "abusers", "fat unhealthy", and basically "savages".

and here bcome the masses of "black people" applauding, and probably going in droves to see this CRAP.

i don't care what race the director is, THESE TYPE OF FILMS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE NEGATIVE PORTRAITS OF "BLACK PEOPLE", THAT WILL BE SEEN AROUND THE WORLD.

i suppose in the "world" of "black people, ONLY fat, VERY DARK skinned, abusive, illiterate, and "lost", black people exist.

and im sure some will say, "this is a tale of redemption".

possibly, but the MAIN overriding theme of thia film is that-"black people are abusive, fat/unhealthy, uncaring, and generally unaware of their predicament, unless "lighter (paula slut patton, wife of white BOY robin (faggot) thicke) black people" can come and lead the fat "darkies" into the "light'.

i would hope our people would see through this trash, and boycott this so-called film. but knowing our people, im sure we will rush out in droves to see this trash.

the movie was dissapointing, under-written, and ended, with a feeling of "what the f*ck".

of course "white people" were standing and cheering, but im sure its only because the so-called film, re-enforces EVERY false idea that the world already had about "black americans".

atleast lee daniels wiil get richer, mo'nique will get slimmer and more famous (maybe a oscar, nod of YES from the white world), and the film will make double profits for5m the box-office.

but in the long run, this "film" will do more damage to the image of "black people" world wide, than any positive it could have done.

as usual, black folks duped again, just sad.

I wonder what Spike Lee thinks. Based on his disgust with Tyler Perry's message "al la perpertual buffoonery", one should have no problem in figuring out that the white-run mainstream media and Hollywood movers and shakers are only interested in how "they" want the rest of the world to view blacks. As in....wholly unattractive (can't argue with that one), ignorant (beyond Blinglish), obese (in mind, body and spirit - check please!), and so much more. So sad.

'

i haven't been around in a LONG time, but NELS you are totally ON POINT!

its so sad that the hollywood "powers that be", have hand selected one or two "black filmmakers" to give their stamp of approval to, and these so-called "black film visionaries" (i.e. tyler perry), have totally built their film "fame" from perpetually playing black folks for fools, emotionally immature jerks, and mad, angry, no-nonsense (typical) black women.

this precious movie is just more of the same "black film garbage" that 99 percent of the black films that come out.

when was the last time you saw a REAL, TRUE "black love story"?

love jones maybe 15 years ago.

why hasn"t denzel washington been in a recent mainstream hollywood film (and im not talking spike lee films)?

because hollywood does not want to see actual images of blacks in film.

they want to see loud, ignorant, savage, downright animal-like black people in film.

halle berry gets an award for screwing a white pig on camera (and off, im SURE). now im sure mo'nique will get an oscar for playing into EVERY bad image of black people.

i hope the black male hating OPRAH, and that woman worshipping tyler perry are proud.

just f*cking sad.

The argument can be made that "Precious" is a film wherein "art imitates life". What it mirrors is a truth; just not the whole truth.

Another truth is that we do have a very visible black President with an accomplished wife and wholesome children who can be pointed to if we want to prove that all Blacks are not down-and-out ghetto dwellers.

And I really don't think that the white movie-going public will be flocking to see this film; they are not its demograph. With a 6 million-dollar gross, it didn't do that great at the box office this week-end, and I wonder if it will actually be shown in a broad selection of theater venues.

Meanwhile, black audiences will either empathize or sympathize with the main character because the story is, above all, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and it does end on a positive note.

What it mirrors is a truth

(So this is based on a true story? I was under the impression it was all fiction. It wasn't the truth in my family and any of my friends. Maybe yours.)

Another truth is that we do have a very visible black President with an accomplished wife and wholesome children who can be pointed to if we want to prove that all Blacks are not down-and-out ghetto dwellers.

(He's not a down and out ghetto dweller.

He's a secret Muslim, and liberal and leftist firebrand out to take over and destroy the U.S. economy.

Who has to have Secret SErvice proection, hmmm)

And I really don't think that the white movie-going public will be flocking to see this film

(They had a showing here the 14th. It was mostly white folks at it--they love this kind of stuff. But hey, the movie has been made. It's now being showed.

Whatcha gonna do?

I wonder if it will actually be shown in a broad selection of theater venues.

(Ain't got no gunplay and explosions or cartoon characters. No chance of that)

Meanwhile, black audiences will either empathize or sympathize with the main character because the story is, above all, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and it does end on a positive note.

(You ain't even seen it yet.

I told y'all this would be a hot one.)

You are so out of it, Chrishayden. The Oscar nominations haven't even been announced yet.

How many times do I have to tell you that since I did not consider this movie a tear-jerker, I had no occasion to shed tears.

As an aside, Oprah is leaving us.

Don't let the door hit ya, Precious! We knew it was YOU all along.

There is a Precious ad at the bottom of this page. Good thinking, somebody.

I should get a part in the sequel.
