I have no problem with deciding that Stanley Crouch got it right, because he recognized that the movie got it right.

No, I haven't seen "Precious" but his thumbs-up puts it on my "to-do" list.

I bet Negroes are gonna be going at each other for a long time about this.

I'm sharpening up my straight razor.

I saw the "Precious" last night. It was very well done. The acting of the entire cast was outstanding.

There's nothing really bad to say about this movie. It does not preach but just lays out the truth for the viewer and from the reaction of the all-black audience in attendance, no one had a problem with this.

It is not a tear-jerker and, in fact, has a lot of funny moments. It is also fairly balanced in its portrayal of black males. I'd give it 3 stars.

Okay, 3 stars, why just 3?

It's in such a limited release, I've yet to see it. I think we get it next week.

The flow of the movie wasn't smooth and sometimes things seemed to be out of sequence. It was a tad too long for me and it lost its focus in parts.

Another distraction to me, was that Precious was quite dark-skinned and so was her molester. The toddler chosen to portray her baby daughter was very light-skinned with curly hair. I couldn't undertand this mis-casting. If this disparity of color occurred in the book maybe the author explained why.

Mis-casting huh. Yep, that seems to be a problem with some of "our" movies. See, we know when the babies daddy, ain't the babies daddy. It's a rare occasion that boot black makes light white. It happens but...

Did you noticed the name of the baby (credits)? I'm thinking somebodies back may have been scratched?

Oh no, not too long. What are we talking, 2-3 hours? I can't hold my water that long.

When you say out of sequence, do you think it was a direction (director)error, or something that was embedded into the screenplay/book?

Sometimes the skills of the director lack the ability to see the overall picture from the viewpoint of the audience. Consequently, the transitions between frames leaves a person saying... WTF, where did that come from.

Haven't see it yet. But it seems to be a good movie from all that I have heard. It's like a breath of fresh air to hear it is not one of the trendy coon movies that seem to be the standard these days.

"Precious" was closer to being 2 hours long than 3.

Flashbacks were a part of its story-telling technique but its sporadic pace was probably due to stringent editing.

No, NTFS, this is not a trendy "coon" movie, but it is a raw film set in the bowels of the ghetto, and the language is x-rated. It's more depressing than refreshing.

It was depressing to see what Precious was subjected to but her determination to improve her lot in life struck a positive note in the end.

I didn't use any boxes of kleenex because as far as I am concerned, as I said, this movie was not a tear-jerker.

It really took a satanic genius to come up with this one.

How could you fail? The girl is dark skinned. Her mama hate her. Her daddy knocked her up. She fat. She stupid.

Show me the Black woman who can resist?
Oprah and Tyler Perry are two of the slickest canniest show bizness operators I have ever seen. I have to take my hat off to them.

I wonder if it is too late for me to ingratiate my way into the project?
