It's all in the genes. And in the year 2009, seventy-six is the new sixty-six. In my 50s my face "set" after marinating in the sauce of life for half a century. It basically hasn't changed since then, according to those who've known me forever. This is not to say that I don't arch my eyebrows and wear strategically-applied make up. And, yes, when I go out I have a warddrobe of wigs I choose from. But I never wear any style that I could not duplicate with my own hair if I felt like going to the hairdresser. My "dress" glasses have not been updated but because they are rimless and virtually invisible, I continue to wear them to see out of rather than as a fashion statement, - for those looking for clues as to how recent that picture is. It is actually a year and a half old. I really want some Sarah Palin glasses but they are ridiculously expensive. Who cares about all of this, you say. Well, I consider myself a spokesperson for all of us old broads who get a bad rap and to whom "age is just a number" - and it's a slow day. |
