Yes friends, those of you who wanted to know what is was like, here it is--in boiled down form. After all, no cities have burned, no Civil Rights workers have been lynched, there have been no Bloody Sunday marches, and the hard times are not nothing like those endured by blacks in the Delta in the 30's-70's It ain't too late, though. Wish you could have been a Black Panther? You may get your chance. Wish you could have marched with MLK? Well, you might not be with him but with a spinoff but you will be in just as much danger. But mostly you are going to see upfront the corruption, apathy and the cowardice that destroyed the so called Movement. Sit back and enjoy the show. | ||

What is it that is going to provide a re-run of all of these 60s activities, Chrishayden??? Be more specific so I'll know what I'm supposed to be preparing for. (Several things. The economic downturn and the increased intensity of competition for ever scarcer resources. The heating up of racial passions. (Lots of people are viewing Serena and Kanye's explosions in a vaccum. Last Friday I used an opportunity which I could have let pass, to get a young white boy told on a trivial affair. Got loud. Let him have it in front of a bunch of folks. I recall that he called me out of my name. Called me "sir" or something like that. That's what really did it. I was just waiting for it. I felt so damn good after reaming him I just stood around beaming and telling folk about it. It was a cheap and tawdry display and beneath me. And I'd love to do it again some time today. There are also other pressures in the U.S.--religious differences (the Catholics, Protestants and Jews are going to start falling out). Regional differences (Sunbelt v Rustbelt) and the Reconquista of La Raza which will force people to choose sides. The Complex, seeing itself threatened will exploit these differences and fire them up to no good end. Also, the failure of the Obama presidency and the viciousness of our right wing will convince many that there is no salvation in American politics--both the Left and the Right will attack what Center there is, and reasonable people will be shouted down, and force and violence and mob rule will rule.
