Have you ever wondered why gas station pumps don't allow you to specify the exact amount of fuel you need in either dollars or gallons? That's because big oil pockets all of those extra pennies of fuel that are spent anytime you go above the amount you intended to use. So the next time the pump handle is acting up and you spend $20.01 cent instead of $20.00, just remember who's benefiting from your grip slip. |

(Hmm. In most of the stations I go in, you go inside and tell them you want say, $10.00 on pump number one, and they program the pump to give you $10.00 worth, and it stops on $10.00. I guess they haven't gotten computerized pumps out there in Hooterville yet. |

I'm talking about on the actual pump itself, and not about having to go inside to pay. Many of the self-serve pumps are fully automated and allow credit card entry by the customer. That's what I was referring to. Sorry for any confusion. |
