Yeah, where is Madame Cynique? Where is Moonsigns? Where is Kola? Where is A_womon? Although I've sparred with the latter two women over the years, I've always wholeheartedly felt that they brought a certain flava to this forum - and I miss them when they're not around. Me? Well, I'm working on a nonfiction book. I've collaborated on a number of nonfic works throughout the years and I've written many essays and articles, but this will be my first full-length nonfiction. The book will be pubbed under a different pseudonym than the one I use for my novels, and I hope to release it by the end of this year. I'll be giving away 100 copies. When the pub date draws near, I'll post an email address for those interested in a free copy; first come, first serve. Some weeks ago, I received a veiled threat. Apparently, "someone" doesn't want this book to be published. But I ain't running scared - just yet. The book exposes a major cover-up. I don't think it would be too wise of me to say any more than that at this time. It seems like I've been familiar with this subject all my life, without realizing there was something more to it. I unwittingly started connecting a few dots. Y'know, it was like where did I hear that name before. The more dots I connected, the more I wanted to know. So I researched and researched. Then came the Oh, shit! moment. I then discovered firsthand that if you type certain word combos into a search engine, certain entities start paying attention to you. I received an email at my personal email address from someone I never heard of, but who seemed to know a lot about me and this project I'm working on. Now, I'm not in the habit of opening emails from people I don't know, and I'm not claiming that I'm some bigtime VIP or anything of the sort, but my personal email address is so exclusive that I never get spam, not even a Nigerian letter - and I've had this email address a number of years. Still, I opened the email because the subject line intrigued me because it seemed to be related to my project. But the body of the email had absolutely nothing to do with the subject line. It was spooky because the email pretty much told me my life story, and the sender directly addressed me by a nickname that very, very, very few people know me by. First, I thought it was a prank from someone who knows me and knows me really well. My friends doth have a sense of humor. I tried to pinpoint which one of my friends is nutty enough to pull something like this. I laughed it off at first. Then I realized that I hadn't spoken to anyone about what I'm working on. Not one person. Not even my mother. In fact, this is the first time I've mentioned this anywhere. I wasn't intentionally trying to hide what I'm working on from anyone; the subject just never came up. So now I'm hopping around libraries, finishing up my research. Yeah, I'm paranoid. Just cuz I'm paranoid that don't mean they ain't watching. Btw, I plan on putting a screen shot of the email in the book, with certain very private info about myself blacked-out, so everyone can see for themselves. I know y'all thinking: urban scribe don' cracked up. She's off her meds. She wants attention. Poor thing. Maybe it's for the best that you think that. I'll be laying low for the next few months. I wish each and every one of you continued health, happiness, and success. | ||

Your quest sounds very intriguing, Urban Scribe. I look forward to your book on the subject. And speaking of "intrigue", FK, how's that word workin for you? Me? I haven't gone anywhere. I just don't have anything of interest to post. I'm inclined to attribute the malaise currently muting my cyber voice to my ongoing eye-rolling over our POTUS and his rusty-kneed, cellulite-thighs, shorts-wearing-first lady. Their conservative Republican detractors are the only ones I find more off-putting. See? 'Told you I had nothing of interest to post.  | ||
