Hello All, I have heard it many times: Surfing through news channels, flipping through newspapers, browsing news magazines: "Mr. Obama". I heard it sitting at the table of a white neighbor yesterday: "Mr. Obama". And then I read an article in one of these magazines and there it was again: "Mr. Obama". I skimmed through the other articles: "Mr. Obama". I thought, surely, I have too much time on my hands. Maybe. But I am off until September and the days do get longer! So, I read on because I knew that I must be overreacting. Nancy Pelosi was not referred to as Mrs. Pelosi but Nancy Pelosi, the House Speaker. Stephen Harper was not referred to as Mr. Harper but Prime Minister. Kyrgyzstan's Kurmanbek Bakiev was referred to as President of Kyrgyzstan. And William Osborne. Even William Osborne had a title! William Osborne, Prisoner from Alaska. Not flattering but they recognized his title! And President Obama, all but once in the magazine was referred to simply as..."Mr. Obama" Hmmm. Why? I know that my folks and I call him Barack or Obama but...that is different. Right? Different than my other folks--my white folks-friends and aunties who call him Barack Obama or Mr. Obama? Does everyone refer to him lovingly as plain ole' Barack or plain ole' Obama or "Mr. Obama" because he feels like the "Peoples President"? Perhaps because he feels like the guy next door because he drinks beer and tells jokes? Or is "Mr. Obama" the new and improved, acceptable way of saying: "Boy", "N@##@", "Coon", "Porch Monkey" and "Spook" out loud without anyone realizing it? Semantics? I don’t know man, I am just wondering. Just wondering. Bleek- |

The man is not a king. He is a President. George W. Bush was called Bush all the time. There are many other things to get upset about, like the idea that President Obama is being set up for a killing, than what somebody is calling him. |

"The man is not a king. He is a President. George W. Bush was called Bush all the time." True. I recall Bush simply being called "Bush" quite often. But I am fully aware of cabal of whites (and non-whites) who dislike him for no other reason than being black. "There are many other things to get upset about, like the idea that President Obama is being set up for a killing, than what somebody is calling him." Yeah, unfortunately, this is also true. Obama has stepped in a bear trap with this national health debacle. The erosion of the publics confidence and faith in this man appears to be waning by the day. I hope it changes soon. White conservatives and Osama’s ideological enemies are working at break neck speed to undermine him. And tragically, Obama keeps feeding them red meat..... |

And tragically, Obama keeps feeding them red meat..... (He just doesn't get it. I hear he and the wife and kiddies went to Yellowstone National Park--when will he get it through his thick skull that the American people don't want to see them acting like "the typical American family" I am not saying he shouldn't goof off. But he shouldn't let nobody know about it. Dammit, he's the President of the United States, not the President of Harvard. He badly needs a terrorist strike on the country or some disaster to pull this out Barring that he should just stop screwing up) |
