Thursday, soon after I heard the news, I approached a group of African American 14 year olds with the sad tidings.

"Michael Jackson is dead," I told them.

"Who is Michael Jackson?" one replied.

"I know, but I thought he was a white man," another replied.

Keep in mind that "Thriller" was almost 30 years ago and he ain't got a thang in the charts.

The next day I was in the library.

"How's it going?" I asked the African American Librarian.

"Fine, except for all these people wanting to talk about Michael Jackson," she replied.

"Don't worry. It will all be over in a little."

She brightened a little. I had made her day.

I hope I made yours.
