...w/Dirty Harry set to direct... The Hollywood Reporter said Scott Eastwood will join Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon in the real-life story of how Mandela united South Africa. It is not the first time that the younger Eastwood has starred in a film directed by his father. He landed roles in both Gran Torino and Flags of Our Fathers. The actor's credit usually appears as Scott Reeves. The Mandela project is adapted from John Carlin's book, Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game That Made a Nation. It details Mandela's plan, following his historic election in 1994, to unite the country around the Rugby World Cup. Previously, the sport had been seen as the exclusive pastime of the white populace who invented and enforced Apartheid - but Mandela lent his personal support to the South African Springbok team as the 1995 tournament approached. Freeman is due to play the elder statesman, while Damon takes the role of Springbok captain Francois Pienaar. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7950488.stm |

Memo: We broke up. In related news, I bet Spike Lee is somewhere spitting nails at the fact that Eastwood is directing a Mandela biopic. No love lost between those two. |

Oooooooh. What caused the break up, FK? Did Morgan slap you around in the car after you accused him of cheating when he received a text message from his wife??? Having the guts to put your love aside and kick him to the curb makes you a great role model! You go, girl! |

LOL, nah, Cynique. Unfortunately, it wasn't that dramatic. Turns out, the woman that was in the car accident with him is suing and making all kinds of noise. Two words: Gloria Allred. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/02/25/morgan-freeman-sued-by-cr_n_170050.html So I'm laying low until he can get his isht together. Le sigh... |

I really don't care who directs it. Look for it to stink and all the white folks in the lead and Morgan Freeman nodding sagely and wisely as Damon saves the day... How about a movie about how the ANC became a corrupt dismal failure... |
