Troy's Note: It is interesting to note that Project Chick is an AALBC.com Bestseller for Aug/Sep 2004 http://books.aalbc.com/augsep2004.htm. The amount of email regarding this specific book was interesting. It appears people enjoyed the book but found the lack of editting too distracting. It has been the subject of conversation that the people who read these types of books don't care about editting -- I'm not so sure that is true. First Email I am happy to say that I enjoyed "A Hustler's Wife" as well as "The Project Chick", however I am very disappointed that your editing team did not take the proper precautions in the edit department. I have never read so many typo's and run on words in my life. There are mispelled words and jumbled up words. I pay to read a flawless book not a book of errors. Granted that we are all humans and make mistakes, but I would be hurt if I published my book with your company and then I read a bunch of errors on my blood, sweat, and tears. Please, please, please, let us all shine! Check then re-check. Second Email I am a 45 year old African American woman that has raised a daughter as a single female ... so yes I can relate to a lot of the story lines in this book Project Chick as well as other books termed as "street lit." The one thing that I found really frustrating is the poor editing that I came across. Many words mispelled, out of context and then duplicating a whole chapter at the end of the book with a different font...what was that about? I admire what you have done, but you have gotta have someone that is capable to go over these pages with a fine tooth comb and catch these mishaps. Do you need a good editor, proofreader, reviser ... I could definitely do better that what I have seen without doubt. But on a more positive note ... keep writing the stories of the real life that some of us actually have live(d) or witnessed. --Keep the faith and be strong |
