It's 78 in L.A. today and the buses are running. Here's something from last year to keep you warm: http://www.thumperscorner.com/discus/messages/5051/2014.html?1103040481 |

Well, Crystal, guess that's the trade-off for having to put up with Arnold for governor. In addition to sub-zero temps, we also have snow all around Chicago and the whole area looks just like a Christmas card! |

Um, Tonya, that would be Chi-town. "Chi" as in Chicago. Thanks for saving me the trouble of nit-liking. heh-heh. |

...LOL, Cynnigue! I figured it out not long after I posted it, but it was more than ten minutes, so I couldn't delete it. Dag, how embarrassing! I sure wish you would've ignored my question -- save your nit-picking "liking" for another occasion. The only thing I can do now is laugh at myself. I already told y'all that I'm as dense as a stiff bag of rocks. Tonya |

Tonya, I went to Chicago one year in september. They were right in calling it "The WINDY City". I've only felt wind that strong if a hurricane was 2 states away. Boy! ^^' |

Tonya, actually, Chicago got its "windy" city nickname because of its legendary history of having long-winded and corrupt politicians. And as I made previous reference to, the wind is nicknamed "the hawk." Your "trivia" lesson for today.... wink-wink |

Cynique: No, actuall Chicago got its windy city nickname because of the afteraffects of Chicago's favorites dishes--saukerkraut and red beans and rice. By the way "The Hawk" should be capitalized. |

Cynique: If what I said is unfounded, then it cannot be information--it is disinformation. Additionally, you should use the verb dispense with the actual physical act of distributing some real articles--such as dispensing medicine. What you should have said is that I am spreading disinformation-- But what I said is so true you got mojoed. Add dark thick Polish and German beer to the flatulent mix, also-- |

In any case, I would like your sources for red beans and rice being a traditional Chicago cuisine, and any thing that you can refer to which will contradict my version of why Chicago is called the "windy city". As somebody who is a sticker for documenting things, I'd expect you to have done that. |

BTW, chrishayden, while trying to show off your knowledge about Chicago, you neglected to mention corned beef and cabbage which is one of the real favorites of Chicago and its large Irish community. |

In philly, a term like "JACK FROST" will either get you in a bind, or a fix, regardless of your preference. Either way, you'll end up in the same place -- the crack house... (lol). |

I've been to Chicago once. In JUNE. And was upset with myself that I forgot my coat. It's cold in Georgia, but warm enough that you don't need socks or a jacket if you're running errands in a car. Coats and heavy shoes/socks are for people who catch the bus or who plan on taking a long walk. |
