FOR BLACK AMERICAN WOMEN by Kola Boof  Many of the men here think that I am a bitter, evil black woman filled with venom towards them. It's not true. I have loved black men....and BEEN LOVED by black men all my life. I am going to make a point with thread...about what I think about Black American women, but first I want to make it clear that I have had wonderful relationships with black men. Including this Black American Man right here:   And even better...with this man...my children's fantastic father....   His name is AQUAMAN  And I have also been pursued all my life by men who aren't black.  So as you can see, I am not some lonely bitter evil Black woman who can't get a man. When I think of the Black American woman... I think of a flower that could grow unwatered. And that's what I've seen all my life in this country. An endless array of beautiful flowers....and the MAJORITY of them.....never watered. So they wilt. And some die. It takes MEN to make women feminine---and I have seen Black American women routinely abandonded by fathers, ignored in their communities, never watered and never honored, but mainly--since I arrived in 1980---I've seen black women maligned for being "black". And I've seen the Halle Berry and Beyonce types unfairly 'worshipped' for adored......and now I see them being left behind as well. I come from one of the most sensuous valleys on earth. I agree that the black women in America are less feminine than most black women around the world....but look at their environment. They have NO MEN to protect them. They have to be stronger than other women. More than half have never been told by their father's that they're pretty or treated like DAINTY little girls by dad. It takes MEN to make women feminine. Black American women were slaves for 400 years. Their only protection from the White man's penis, was to make themselves as LESS ATTRACTIVE as possible. And for that reason---they packed on the pounds and wore head rags. Hundreds of years! They played the MAMMY role, and many times---even as big fat Mammies, they found themselves raped. But they did this....until it became genetic. No one has loved them enough to help them heal from slavery. I am a woman from Africa and I can honestly say that the only person in this whole nation that I am willing to die for....is the Black American woman. The disrespect, the lies and unfairness that is turned on her---I find it unacceptable. And it breaks my heart. Because if you hate her...then you hate me. And you men over here need to fucking STOP the bullshit excuses of why you can't love a black woman, be good to her and love your black selves by having black children...and giving birth to your own image. This nation is OVER-FLOWING with fine ass "GOOD" black women. They can cook They look good They smell good They WANT a black man. They want to love and be loved. Stop the fucking lies. And love YOUR woman--the one that GOD gave you in the beginning. And stop being so damned colorstruck. Everything you do....shows it. You worship and SEEK OUT anything that's very light skinned, mixed or not black and it's as clear as DAY. It also makes you look like a damned fool to constantly call the White man a "racist" and call him "satan" when you're THE ONE killing your own mother's image, discriminating against your own women and proving the white man right----that you're nothing but KING KONG. Have some goddamned self respect. Shit. And know that we love you and NEED you and want nothing more than to build our world around you and cherish you. But we can't if you won't let us and we can't if you teach your sons to stereotype, hate and reject us.  And Black American women....stop giving birth to the black man that everybody else needs and start giving birth to the black man YOU need. Give birth to a new son. On purpose. Stop trying to be fair, stop trying to prove that you're not racist---stop trying to prove that a Multicultural society is the best thing for you... put some "stick-together" back into YOUR community. Fuck everybody else. Whites, Latinos, biracials, Interracial couples. Fuck them and put your WOMB in the service of you and YOUR community. Turn off the goddamned T.V. and bannish the blond hair "White Girl Drag" disguises....and sit your children down and TEACH THEM how to honor you, respect you and give birth to their own image. Give birth to their own image. And love blackness. CRAVE IT! Stop hiding behind the church. Stop waiting on GOD to do what you should do for your damned self. Stop waiting on colorstruck, self-absorbed people like Cynique who don't give a damn what happens to you....and put YOURSELF first. Stop waiting on Black men to miraculously CARE about your sacrifices and how you took up for him. Stop waiting on Black men to miraculously be FAIR and unselfish and to want real love and not a "media image" on his arm. Stop waiting...PERIOD. Black men who make it clear that we're INFERIOR to their tastes and that they don't need us---FUCK 'EM. Those motherfuckers ain't shit--but dead! Do not support them. Do not support their movies, don't buy their albums, don't watch them on t.v. (giving them ratings)---do not even honor their presence. Raise everything in your house AGAINST them and be for yourself. As the saying goes: "If you want a man to be obsessed with you--turn your back on him." And notice it's working for the men. Sisters, we need a NEW SON. This color bullshit is spreading to AFRICA--not just the elite class where it's always been---but down to the poorest, most soulful purest African. And that's always been the plan....to wipe out and destroy the African so that the white man could have our paradise to himself. YOU, Black Americans, whether you like it or not---are part of that ancient war. Otherwise, you would not have been chained up and dragged over here. You are BLACK. You come from Africa. You come from us who are BLACK. You are a PART of the thing that the white man has been trying to conquer and kill for centuries. DO NOT breed yourselves off the damned planet. Do not wish for white looking babies and then talk about your ancestors and how much you love them. SHOW THEM by giving birth to them again. Stand up for yourselves! Stand up for your children and your communities! BE...and be not afraid. More than anybody else, it's time for Black Women to wake up and stop putting up with this bullshit. If the black man doesn't want to be black ---then KILL HIM---and give birth to him again. Only you have that power. And me, personally--I've already started the killiing. The men on my ranch love me, protect me and KNOW that I'm setting down the roots of forever. FOR US. Black. Don't matter that I'm African and you're American. So what. A black girl "did something bad to me once". Oh please, and this is how he deals with his pain? In comparison, how many times have black women been rejected and hurt by a variety of people, yet we don't cut an entire category of people from our social preferences? That's the coward's way out. Why do men hate action films with a female hero? Are they intimidated by the charaters? Do those characters remind them too much the LAST THING they want their submissive wives to become? Why are black men still trying to meet european social standards anyway? Can't they understand that a black woman's femininity will never match that of a non- black woman's? Part of my "identifying" with Kola on this specific issue right now is because ESSENCE MAGAZINE has declined to let me do a story on Kola. My editor basically told me that Kola is "too black" (in the political sense) and that middle class African American sisters aren't ready for someone as "flamboyant" as her. After that, I was told by another sister who writes freelance that she had tried to do Kola for ESSENCE and that they're waiting on white media to stamp her forehead before they will touch her. Another girlfriend told me that BLACK ISSUES BOOK REVIEW recently did a whole story on Kola, but chickened out and didn't run it. So you can imagine how pissed I was, as an up and coming journalist to feel that I've found this fascinating woman, a brilliant writer on the level of Alice Walker or James Baldwin--I kid you not, and that intelligent black women are saying she's too radical for us to talk about. Yeah, yeah, it occurred to me later that I goofed and I really do apologize to the real Baby Girl for that faux pas because I've always liked the history of that name with her. Anyhoo, at least I provided that tight-assed Roxie with a laugh. I wondered if she was capable of loosening up. Although she'll probably return to character since I used the "big words" faux pas, because with her insecurities she doesn't realize that certain people use big words in the hope that those who don't know their meaning will look them up and learn something. And I guess when Roxie said of others that they were: "afraid to insult someone with the utmost swearing if they piss you of enough." she was inadvertantly talking about herself. Or, - maybe she suddenly realized that she didn't respond to my post for the same reason that I don't "insult someone with the utmost swearing when pissed off". It has something to do with not wasting the energy responding to someone whose opinions you really don't care about. e.g. chrishayden. heh-heh. Example of my bubble being busted: Say I spend a long time writing a poem. I revise it and refine it and put my heart and soul into it. Pleased with myself, I post it under the Poetry heading, proud of what I consider a masterpiece. Then somebody comes along and casually remarks that my poem was a trite and boring piece of junk. THAT would burst my bubble! Having you and Roxie trip me up during a petty little confrontation does not burst my non-existant bubble. Puleeze. Well, I just discovered that you can delete your own posts if you do it within 10 minutes of writing them. The first one I deleted and re-posted after I misspelled a word. The second one I deleted and re-posted because for some reason things went haywire and there was a looooong space between paragraphs. The delete feature is in the little box marked with a red "x" in the upper right hand corner of your posted messsage. Just click on it and follow instructions. Of course, you can only delete posts written by yourself. Neat, huh. I shouldn't have revealed this to you and just made you think that I have magical powers. heh-heh. | ||
