Fans of Erykah Badu will find this Neo Soul diva a similar breath of fresh air. Learn more about N'Dambi from this excerpt posted at ViqiFrenchFever.blogspot.com: "Die-hard Erykah Badu fans know that one of her former back-up singers and Dallas friends -- N'Dambi -- is an equally bad chick. Period.
Perhaps more original than the quite original Erykah, N'Dambi is arguably the ultimate Neo Soul artist for '70s Jazz-Funk fans: a little bit Nina Simone, a little bit Chaka...

What IS "neo-soul"? Just, soul, baby. Just soul. LOL! Actually, I have no problem with the "neo-soul" label--at least I prefer it to "urban contemporary" or other terms that try to take Black people out of the equation to make the music more marketable to Whites and other non-Blacks. To paraphrase Billy Joel: "Everybody's talkin' 'bout the 'neo' sound Funny, but it's still soul to me" |
