There are national guard recruiters at all of the evacuee centers here in Houston telling the evacuees that they can sign up for a 3 month stint with the national guard and help rebuild there homes.I wonder how many of the people that actually fall for that will get there enlistment extended and spend thanksgiving in Iraq?

Last I heard (and it's been a while since I have been affiliated w/the military) there is no such thing as a "3 month stint" *and* there is no such thing as pre-choosing your assignment. I hope this is just one (of many) rumors. If not, I hope folks are not falling for this unethical (and perhaps, illeagal) practice.

Guys, many of them don't know alot about current events and politics, so they have no idea what Bush is doing with the national guard. Many will probably fall for this. The only thing I can think of doing is e-mailing CNN (a racist medium). Do anyone have any other suggestions?

To Yvette I'd have to say that this is the first time that I've ever heard of a 3 month enlistment also. But this is no rumor.I have heard the recruiters with my own ears.I have also heard this discussed on the local Pacifica radio station,so what I heard was no isolated incident. They are actually coming at these people who've lost everything but their lives and are offering them the opportunity to lose that as well.Sometimes I stand in slack-jawed amazement at the audacity of these lunatics which have taken over the asylum.

Kola_boof:

Well, I guess we had better pull out the Pace Picante sauce, some tortilla chips, and pull up a chair.
