Yes, ABM, I did.
I'm a HUGE fan of both----and I was quite shocked to learn that they actually had sex.
Being an expert on Crawford, I was more surprised that she had sex with another woman---than I was about Marilyn.
Crawford was an extremely complex, sensuous, neurotic woman---grossly misrepresented by the new age image of her older days. She was a sexual athlete--crazy about men. All 4 of her husbands and Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy said that she was insatiable in bed...and a man pleaser to boot.
I've always really loved Crawford, because of her beginnings. She had an impossibly interesting life and I love watching her 1930's films just to marvel at how beautiful she was back then.
This is "RAIN" from 1932----in 1997, I tried to raise money in Morocco to REMAKE it...starring me, Naima Kitar. It's not my favorite by her, but the whore, "Sadie Thompson" in the film was such a heroic figure to me.
Joan Crawford was a gifted TAP DANCER
....and one of the biggest hits in Hollywood's
history was her 1933 hit, "DANCING LADY". It
starred Joan Crawford and Clark Gable...but her
dances scenes with FRED ASTAIRE were the highlight of the movie! Crawford could really
DANCE and showed it off all throughout this movie.
Clark Gable and Joan Crawford were such a HOT TEAM---MGM starred them in 9 films together. In the early 1930's, they made the Top 3 Films of the year 5 years in a row!
My favorite Joan Crawford/Gable movies are
"Dancing Lady" (1932), "Possessed" (1937)
"Strange Cargo" (1941)

And for someone who considers herself an expert on Joan Crawford/Lucille Leseur, I can't believe Kola wasn't aware that it was common knowledge in LA-LA land that Joan swung both ways, sometimes with Marlena Dietrich. She got her start in show biz by winning a Charleston contest but was never really an outstanding dancer. Melodrama was her forte and she won an Oscar for the movie "Mildred Pierce" undoubted miffing her famous rival, Bette Davis. In her romantic liaison with Clark Gable, she was, indeed, the one doing all the pleasing because the legendary Gable was reputed to be a lousy lay. And I wonder why Kola Boof, that great champion of black standards of beauty, would become enamoured with pale-skinned, keen-featured, straight-haired Joan Crawford rather than Hattie McDaniel whose dark skin and broad nose and thick lips reflect African heritage????? But, then, Kola does admit to being neurotic - which is probably why she is able to stomach abm. EEW. |

The scriptwriters made Joan Crawford...far more African...than they made Hattie McDaniel.
And because I was aware of the total LIE that Hattie's roles were...I loved her and felt sorry for her, and for her people.
I felt even more sorry for Lena Horne.

And Cynique...I never believed the rumors about Crawford until now.
Stanwyk I knew was gay. Dietrich and Garbo, Ok, sometimes. Marilyn, I could tell.
But something about Crawford is too man-hungry and she had TOO MANY MEN and those men wrote in great detail about how WILD she was.

Yeah, I had heard that thilla Joan could work a bone down to the bone.
But I had heard the lesbian stuff about her too. And that don't surprise me about her.
You almost get the impression that she was so inured in being "Joan Crawford" that she wouldn't limit what and whom she "did" to either gender. I think she'd probably do most anything, provided her name was afixed above the production title.
And she seem to crave power. So maybe the same-sexing was as much an expression of power (if you presume it easier to overwhelm a woman than a man) as it was about sex. Gable used to try to deal-it to Marilyn too (though, buy then, his gun chamber was spent) before he croaked. Maybe Crawford was trying to use Marilyn to steal some of ol' Rhett Butler's thunder.
And as early as the late 1930's, Crawford was already being put aside in favor of Carol Lombard (who's tragic death made Gable a widower), Katherine Hepburn (who became Tracy's lifetime caretaker and f*$%buddy), Betty Grable, etc., while her male contemporaries like Gable, Tracy and Cary Grant, Humphery Bogart, Jimmy Steward, Henry Fonda, etc. grew in esteem and popularity as they aged.
Perhaps all those factors, as well as her just having a hankerin' for her some punanny, compelled her to vigorously scratch that lesbian itch.
Actually, it was Marilyn who according to her diary ardently professed to Joan her fidelity to the d*ck. Perhaps one night Norma Jean got spazzed out on some of those pills she was taking, blew up Joan's hiney, but after coming down off the monkey, begrudged what she done and bade NAY to further cQQchie-lickin'. |

I can't think of a single celebrity of today who hasn't been accused of being "gay"---including me.
If you're seen laughing and hanging onto a friend at a party while you laugh---"you're a lesbian".
It gets on my nerves, although people don't really care if women are gay.

Bette Davis was my FAVORITE actress.
I know everything about her, too.
Did you see her play Rosa Maline in "Beyond the Forest"?
My love for Crawford, like I said, is because other than the "child abuse"---she really reminds me of ME.
I know everything about most of the film actresses of the 20's-40's.
Italian actress Anna Magnani is another REALLY big favorite of mines. I love her.

Okay. The quotes I read in the paper said Marilyn Monroe claimed she rejected Joan Crawford’s subsequent advances. But if you say Marilyn's fence swung in the opposite direction, I’ll believe yah.
Again, Marilyn is alleged to have been so often whacked-out on prescription drugs, she might have confused Crawford with Milton Berle.
And by the time Monroe hit the scene, Crawford was in or near her 50’s. So maybe it was Crawford's age, not her sex, that turned off Marilyn.
I’m not as acquainted with Crawford resume as you are. Except for the “Baby Jane” thing, I mostly know her to be a star of the 20’s and 30’s.
It wouldn’t surprise me that she’d dump Gable and Tracy. She was savvy enough to use them to embellish her bigger-than-life persona but then dump them before their fame outshone her own.
And the young Stewart and Honda always appear a bit too girly-man. They probably feared having it put into the Hollywood Scuttlebutt that ol’ bone’em hard Joan scared them into impotence.
I will agree that Joan Crawford was for her time remarkably potent and resilient performer and person.
But so I can be clear: Basically you’re saying I could just scratch most of what I previously posted and just attribute her cooter-licking simply to her being a cooter-licker.

PS: “Mommie Dearest” provided a riveting treatise on tragedy of child abuse and the pathos of fading movie stardom. Still, I think it sad that perhaps the thing we most indelibly recall about Crawford is her utter revulsion of wire hangers. But then, I have similar sympathies for Ike Turner. |

ABM...I love Marilyn Monroe, because I relate to her fun with sexuality---believe it or not, I used to be like that. And in my younger days, before my sons messed up waist-line, I had the body of Jessica Rabbit only mines was 100% real---and I Marilyn was also in and out of mental institutions her whole child, teen and adulthood.
So I love Marilyn, because I relate to her so much---and she was also a brilliant, brilliant talent whose LOOKS caused her talent to go unnoticed.

I could never get it on with Marilyn Monroe or any woman---no matter how beautiful, how much I admire them, how much I love them. I am NOT gay OR bisexual, ABM.
