I'm sitting up and this friend calls me up. He's on the phone crying. "Chris man," he says. "Why ain't you in church, man?" I really don't know any time I'm wanting to hear this but now wasn't one of the times. "Hey look, man don't worry about me," I said. "Worry about yourself." We go back and forth and he finally admits he ought to. "I know. I know. I just got a handful right now and--" he starts crying again. As many of you probably can guess at my best times I am not the best man to go to for spiritual comfort--my idea of cheering a person up is by saying, "Life is a bitch and then you die." "Hey man," I said. "Why don't you call your pastor right now. After all, that's what he's for." He says. "I ain't joined that church yet. I just go." "Well, call him anyway," I said. "Maybe its a good time to join." This only happens to black people, don't it? |

I got a story too. Well, not too long ago I had my first car accident ever. I was T-boned by Two old ladies and a toddler. Using my instincts I ran out of the car and towards the other vehicle toi ask if they were all right. You know what that old lady did? She turned her head away from me and kept silent. Since they were snubbing me completely, I called the cops and the usual crew came along to gather up the mess. Now since this was my FIRST accident I had so many worries swimming through my head: like were the ladies and baby hurt in any way(since they wouldn't talk to me)? how is my mom going to react? was it my fault? And of course I couldn't help but cry uncontrollably. Anyway, as time passed I learned that the old ladies were going pretty fast(as evidenced by the impact damage),and made no attempt to break(were no tire marks; I heard no screech sound). AND, here's the best part, they were on their way to a church social! God!And those old women went out on stretchers and everything, trying to take advantage of my sympathy! You know I learned my lesson thatr day: church people will always be the same. BTW, the accident was declared a "no-fault", and I never did try to blame them, I had enough stuff on my schedule. HA!Nice try, Ladies! God don't like dishonesty!
