Word is that there are some guys out there who are shopping a movie around about the life of Hatshepsut... Queen turned Pharoe... I personally would love to see this come to the big screen.... Anyway I decided to visit the site of these guys to see if I could find anymore info on their roject... I got there and saw some of the people who they thought could play this great woman and I was shocked at some of their choices.... They were mostly white women.... The only black person there was Halle Berry........ Here is a link to their site at the bottom... I haven't had a chance to look too much up on Hatshepsut so I dont know what her skin color was but I am guessing she didn't look white or of Arabic descent.... seeing as how these people didn't come to this land until many years later..... So I'm guessing she looked black..... I dont know, someone correct me if I'm wrong. What do yall think???????????? http://www.daughterofra.com/future.html |

Hatshepsut's family came from the stilt village in PUNT. She was VERY black and nappy haired and "very thick". She was undisputedly---Egypt's greatest Queen and ruled as a Man.

Didn't the lead singer in Cameo use to wear his hair like that? I'd have to say from looking at her facial features that the skin tone on that is probably about right. |

Rustang, HAHA on the Cameo dig. All the sistah needs is a black body suit and a plastic red g-string bikini and she's in there. |

No, Rustang the "skin tone" is not right---because Black Egyptians use HENNA to paint their bodies red and they rendered much of their art work in red. The BUST of Nefertiti that is "white" is only that way because it was done in IVORY. Notice the "new" King Tut BUST that has been created for the U.S. tour-----they did the same thing. They made it out of WHITE STONE and then portrayed TUT as a color he couldn't have possibly been ...considering that his mother was Nubian Queen Tiye---a woman who looked like Alek Wek. All of these portrayals of ancient Egyptian people and Nubians are complete lies. Halle Berry looks no more like Nefertiti than Kathy Bates does---and it DOES MATTER when they cast these images for the purpose of ingratiating "whiteness" (Halle is beautiful because of her blood association with WHITENESS, which has always been Hollywood's point)---not to mention Halle looks too American. Just as WASHINGTON D.C. is portrayed on television as a city of MOSTLY white folks---when in reality, it's almost entirely BLACK the same goes on TODAY with the Nile river (which is overwhelming BLUE BLACK)....and when filming the ancient Egyptian wall etchings....they always film the lighter RED drawings. If you were to go there to the pyramids....you would be amazed at the depictions of how these people really looked without EDITING of their Hydra. They were BLACK....even the MIXED ones were like today's mixed Arabs....closer to chocolate than to cinnamon. The beauty standards of "today" were NOT the beauty ideals of the ancient world.

I'm sorry, but you constantly mention Arabs, Arabs, Arabs.... I know that you are from around those parts so you know more then I do on these subjects........ but to my knowledge, the Arabs invaded Egypt way after people like Nefertiti and Hatshepsut were in power........... So this whole thing about Arabs kinda gets on my nerves..... Now about Halle..... and her looking too American..... Trust me, when I saw the picture of Halle as Nefertiti she does not look like the same person at all...... I think you would be happier if they had an Arab play the part of Nefertiti wouldn't you..... The people who live in these lands now weren't always there, which I'm sure you know... You cant find an exact match to all of these great people who also have talent.... So with Halle, I know she will do the role justice.

Hapshetsut was black! If people try to argue that HAPSHETSUT (a better eqyptian queen than Cleopatra)wasn't black, and if people continue to argue that she wasn't, then they are in SERIOUS denial. Why must non-blacks try to claim EVERYTHING? And forget Halle, She couldn't even play the role of african-born X-men member Storm correctly!(did you hear that awful accent?!). Sophie Okenedo(Sp?) would be a more convincing canidate for the role. (Guess who's registered?! ) |

Roxie, Almost any fairly skilled, dark, tall, graceful HIGH SCHOOL actress would have been a better "Storm" than Halle. |

Sopie Okenedo..... Hell nah.... I don't want to see her as Nefertiti.... And her name surely wont attract audiences.... Please.... Halle is just fine.... It's hard for anyone to try to put on an accent that is not their own, so give it a break. HATERS........ |

Excuse me, EDENSON----but I am not only a HUGE Halle Berry fan, but I've actually met her. She most definitely IS a beautiful person inside out (my man used to work for her)---and as I've noted several times, she's also one of my top 5 favorite actresses. I loved Halle in "Monster's Ball", "Queen", "Losing Isaiah", "Jungle Fever", "Boomerang", "Die Another Day"---and as a regular cast member on "KNOTS LANDING", the t.v. show, her very first gig. But there is no way....that people who actually come from the Nile River Valley (like me) are going to believe her in the role of Nefertiti. She is not only a mulatto--but she looks too AMERICAN. Her neck is too short, her body too Western, her face too English-Black. That girl, Megan Goode, from EVE'S BAYOU or the dark Mixed daughter from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" would be far more realistic---they could be made to pass for East African BLACK women. IMAN would still be the perfect choice--because Nefertiti looked more like her than anybody else. And dare I say it, me myself. But because Americans don't give a shit about Nefertiti herself---they want to put someone who reflects THEIR VISION rather than the actual one.

Are you somehow under the impression that the descendants of slaves are pure African? Nothing you say applies to people of color in America today. We are a new breed. Our history is indigenious to this country and, unlike your people, we've made progress. The fact that you have to dwell on the past exposes your insecurity. |

Perhaps "colored" was/is the right answer to the U.S. "black" American identity crisis. Not professing fact, just speculating. |

The word "colored" really fell on hard times after Malcome X divested the word "black" of its negativeness. But "colored" was a perfectly good, all-encompassing word that developed a bad history because of the insidious connotations given to it by "white" people who considered themselves better than negroes. The NAACP still retains the word colored and one has to wonder if there is a correlation between their doing so and the way this organization has fallen on hard times. tsk-tsk. |

If you could take your head of the cow's ass and take a look at his face, then maybe you could see what progress AAs have made. You continue to play the stereotype card because you have tunnel vision. Ethiopia? Big Joke. Like I said, during WWII, Benito Mussolini exposed you folks for the sorry lot that you are. Hallie Selassie? What a wimp. The Lamb of Judah? Yeah, right. How about the Goat of Italy? |

I live in this country, too, having been born here as opposed to a green-card carpet bagger like you, and I maintain that you are attempting to portray all African Americans as low-lifes, which simply isn't true. There are millions of us who don't fit your degrading description. And when you're extolling Ethiopia's "glorious" history why do you continue to avoid mentioning its ignoble downfall at the hands of El Duce a/k/a Benito Mussolini. I guess the emperor's tin solders were so preoccupied with trying to learn their alphabet that they couldn't fend off any invaders |

Ok, to the Ethiopian, you come across very much like an individual who hasn't read a book since the civil rights movment. Have you heard of Cheikh Anta Diop & Theophile Obenga and the UNESCO conference of 1974 and the peopling of Egypt? If you have, you wouldn't have made that statement about Ta-Merry, (Kmt -Egypt) not being populated by anatomacal African people. First your logic is in opposition of all Anthropolocical evidence on the subject especially the Qustal incense burner found in Ethiopia which is older than the Per Aanic (or Pharonic) era of Ta-Merry, which depicts Hrw Heru and a king on the boat of Ra wearing the white crown of upper Kemet. this is 100-150 years before Aha Menes (Narmer) united upper and lower Kmt. Secondly, if we want to know how the Kmtjw depicted themselves, then we just simply need to vist the tomb of Ramesis III. For a pictorial break down of the tomb, visit my site at http://www.mochasuite.com/Stories/ashaa_details.asp?ID=58 to view the article written by Professor Manu Ampim of California. It is really not worth debating the issue anymore, because the peopling of Ta-Merry has been settled since 1974 and the outcome hasn't changed. So I suggest you do some study before making assumptions on situations you don't know. I can't believe he said Berbers. It is a word that means barbarians given by Europeans. My God, I see we still have uneducated people claiming they know history touting on information they don't know about. Shrugs.... |
