By the grace
of your smile
do I bow.

Stretching
my soul
to reach for your love,
I cross waters
that cast no reflection.

Chin sweat
stains the ash
on my hands
as I play the sunshine
in the heart of the batas.

Surely,
even my mother Oshun
will sing with me,
while you dance
and fan us
to cool our
heads.
