What Poets do any of y'all read? I read everyone, Black white,yellow, good bad or indifferent. My favorites (the ones I read when I'm down or lacking inspiration or just to have a good time-- Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Langston Hughes, Robert Hayden, Paul Beatty, Sapphire, Suheir Hammad, Walt Whitman and Alan Ginsberg. | ||

Hi Chris As you know I read all types of works. But lately as for poets I have been reading Nikki Giovanni's new release Guilting the Black-Eyed Pea (look for the review later this month)and I also just started Primus St. John's Communion. I'm hoping to do another chapbook (my first is Let Me Shake Your Leaves)and need the inspiration, now that I finally finished the novel Red-Bone, which I will release next month. | ||

I'm a big Nikki fan as well. I carry A Blues For All Seasons almost all the time. I've been having a hard time finding novels and books to satisfy me though. | ||

(Always beautiful to see that.)Seems like there's a lot of love around here, too. That's real brootiful. :p Hmm.. Poets that I like/read from? i feel you, moon. i love pablo neruda, too. both graphic and romantic. can i count the illustrious tupac shakur as a poet? because his flow still keeps me going. sonia sanchez, who i had the pleasure of meeting in the recent years. and don't even get me started about gil scott-- LOVE HIM: "the revolution will be no rerun, brother/the revolution will be live..." nuff said. as for the last poets, i love them, too: "...black thighs, bumping, grinding....black thighs making me forget all the pain...black thighs making forget all about white thighs, white love/love me, black thighs...." oh, yes. it is wild when i stop to think just how much poetry, how many poets, vibrate in my heart. i'm new to this thing. can i sister get a welcome? ha ha. peace. | ||
