Consuming a Cocoa...Kola*

A new time hath come forth.
So please do not dawdle.
For there be no time or need.

Please come to me,
let go,
...then Behold.

I will place my hand upon your breasts.
Then, as I gently reach down into your heart;
you will implore me to taste your warm, flowing blood;
as your soul writhe in rapture.

Brotha ABM,

Is this piece an inside joke? It struck me as a vampire/cannibal piece, that sickened my stomach.

What were U attempting 2 say? If this piece isn't an inside joke than perhaps extending it so the reader can catch on to your (sic) choice of metaphore might help.

U started out writing in a "love" tone or flow, then wham you hit the reader with a trash can lid,
what's the deal-le-O?

Then again, this flows from your mind. lolololololol.

Peace & Blessings
Your Sister In Then Word

I thought the poem was illy/funny. Whomever you are spitting this one to, I would love to be there to see the look in her eyes when you read it to her.

It has that "beatnik" flavor to it.

Beatnik flavor! No way! Beat poets never affected a medieval idiom in their poems. It would make their poetry sound too stilted. (hint, hint)

My Dear Sis. Shiree Sarana,
I am always proud to provide for you a moment’s revulsion. <<bowing>>

Rondall,
The object of my liquid passion is a living feast upon which men would kill to devour.

Cynique,
What is it, My Dear? Her feeling a 'widdle' left out?

There you go again, ABM, deluding yourself into thinking I want to be in your mix. Yawnn. However, I will refrain from my comments on your "poetry" if you'll dispense with your trite imitation of Othello. It's painfully out of character for a hip-hop advocate.

Errr...

I wouldn't want a poem like that to be dedicated to ME, ABM.

What are you Dracula? LOL

BTW--I sure do hate that I wasn't here when this much talked about Kola person was on board. Seems like she was the perfect match for you.

You both seem ghastly and ancient! LOL

Cynique,
What is wrong with my doing a "trite imitation" of Othello, anyway? After all, he was a potent, kicka$$ kinda brothah. He made some dubious friendship and marital choices. But hey! Nobody's perfect.

And just 'cause I am 'Hip' to Tupac doesn't mean I can't 'Hop' with Thoreau.

BTW: Baby, you couldn't handle the kind of "mix" that I could whip up inside of you.

Katrina,
"Errr".
Don't worry, Darling. YOU need not concern yourself with being characterized in one of 'Dracula's' poems.

Although, I find it interesting that for someone whose writing you find to be "ghastly and ancient", your ONLY posts to the "The Poetree - AALBC.com Poet's Discussion Board" have been in response to what I had previously posted.

Ah! There are few things I find more charming than when chicks PRETEND not to have a crush on me.

Sorry to have to disagree with you here, but I think Othello was a dope. He marries a young twerp, allows somebody to drive him into a jealous rage with some hints and innuendoes and finally murders the silly twit and offs himself.

ABM, I'll just ignore your sexual egomania because everybody knows men can't compare with women when it comes to who can handle what.
As for you verse, you can try to imitate Othello or try to come across as a black Byron or Keats, but poetry should always ring true; it should never be what the poet is not.

Chris,
Hey! What can I say? Even to one as powerful as the mighty Moor, love can be a b#@$%!

Cynique,
Honestly, I do not know who or what I am as a poet...or even whether I qualify as any such a thing at all.

But am indeed as true to what I would say as were those who might utter similar wording ages gone by or henceforth.

Now, 'Milady', this is your THIRD post under this topic. So I ask: If my poetry is "not true", then what does your attention to me and to what I seek to "imitate" (and to my "sexual egomania") say...about you?

dpoetist,
Don't mind me. I am but a wayward hawk who desperately searches for how and where to fly.

ABM- do U know how to put a "straight" complete sentence together? I'm not surprised that the "dead white poets" you have so much respect for were all drug addicts.

My challenge to you is to finally read "something" of yours that falls in the genuine "creative" column. Thus far, your lips/fingers are typing but you've yet to put down words that hold any "true" value.

How about showing that Phd brain matter that you are so confident albeit arrogant to boast!

Can a brotha speak in real terms and leave the archaric verse behind? Is your depth no farther than a pair of shoes? You crack yourself up quite often no doubt.

You're like the hydra that won't go away, poetically speaking.

Peace & Blessings

Sis. Shiree Sarana,

First, as someone who claims to be a creator and supporter of poetry, YOU appear inadequately equipped for either task. You have a very NARROW view of what poetry should/shouldn't be.

Who died and made you the poet deity, anyway?

I have posted 4 different poems to this site in the last few months...more than YOU HAVE, I might add...and they have ALL been very different in structure, tone and subject matter.

Hell! I'm just trying to add some heat, fire...LIFE...to your mostly moribund part of Thumper's Corner, yet still all I get from you is grief. What is going on with you?

Am I catching you on the rag or something?

I told you before: The surest way to drive away my bad poems is for you to write good ones. If you haven't the talent or inclination to do such, then perhaps you should learn to suffer my relentless mediocrity.

Or is the very opposite at work here? Do you publicly castigate what you secretly worship?

Am I your 'Mozart', 'Salieri'?

I 'yam' what I 'yam' and I'll do what I do. I expect that you will, and most certainly should, do the same.

I can't in ANYWAY compel you to read what I write. So simply DON'T! And if my 'poems' are so distasteful to your grand and exalted sensibilities, I am sure that you could request that Troy/Thumper block missives from my IP from posting here.

Otherwise, I will ask you what I similarly asked Katrina/Cynique: If you are so put off by what I write, why do you continue to rebut me?

Because any smart person knows the easiest way to silence a loudmouth (like Yours Truly) is for you yourself to first shut the @#$% up!

ABM, I think it's a good poem.

I just don't think it's DONE.

You had more to say. You only focused on the "erotic charge" that I assume exists between you and this person. I was here for Kola, so I can't help but attach this passionate, sensual piece of prose to her--obviously, you're crediting her with having the power to "stir" your blood and make you feel alive. And I would definitely say that you inspired the same blood bubbling in her, so the poem makes perfect sense and is actually "lovely" in a morbid, romantic sense.

The thing is, why didn't you finish the poem? Just as the thing entrances the reader, there's about 2 stanzas missing.

Let me tell you. I thought your tit-for-tat with Kola was some of the best writing, the best FREE lit that's ever been posted on a message board. So this is what I base my opinion on in saying that the poem doesn't do the two of you justice.

Again, it's a "lovely" piece and despite what the Sista Shiree said, it's one of the few pieces entered in weeks that could truly be filed as ART.

Keep ya head up.

Spare me the "Milady" crap, ABM. You just don't get it, do you? Your writing in that stiff Elizabethian dialect makes you sound sooo phony and corny. (Obviously, I read your odes because I'm a glutton for punishment. LOL) And what does the fact that you have posted more than Sis. Shiree Sarana have to do with anything? We're talkin quality here, not quantity. Also, in answer to your question as to why we continue "to rebut you", you answered your own question when you said "we are put off by your poems." Jeeze! I swear, I wouldn't continue to needle you, ABM, if you weren't so convinced that any female who responds to your posts has a crush on you. That's such a lame reaction, and you're the only male on the board who resorts to this rationale.

Trust me. I'm no big fan of the Uncola, but this childish Censorship crapola has been bugging me for weeks now. It really makes Thumper look immature and plain stupid. You guys just refuse to get it. Thump didn't go into details but the posts he's referring were doing more than mentioning her name. They were appearing more and more, embelishing this individual leading to more post either rebuking the original or adding to it. This is not an advertishment page for this individual and some seem to dead set on making it just that. Come on y'all, ain't nobody fools up in here. I do not dislike the lady in question but I feel we must respect Thump and do as he wishes. Take for instance the posts above. Now ABM is not foolish enough to believe that "poem" was one of the best ever presented here. So the goal of the postee was not to champion it, it's obvious to us that their motives are not honorable, at least as far as Thump's concerned. Please Y'all, why don't we do as the man says....damn. Again I harbor no dislake for the person, I just don't like the board or us trying to be played or used. And am not saying this in a disrespectful way, but ABM knows what time it is. I have enough respect for him to tell him that and I hope he reasons in kind. He knows what that poem is and what it is not......and I am reasonably sure he didn't have a particular individual in mind. So please stop with the lame posts. See, y'all ain't going to be satisfied until Thump really shows his ass. Then y'all be crying about censorship this and unfair that. And y'all really don't want my girl Cynique to go off. Beleive me she can ...ahh....well you know. Let's just try to play by the rules or go find some place else to F*&k around at.

Come on Lurking <<wink>> lighten up......please...do it for me....K.

ABM,

What ever I have said, believed and written it is fact. I have done so without resorting to the level of childish behavior that you seem to cherish.

The last I looked your sorry ass came from a woman yet you have no sense of respect or decency.

No, I am not a God, never claimed to be. Who the hell are you to test me or tell me how much to post? I Am this site, in the sense that I was before you were a thought in your daddy's pants on this site. I have put my heart and soul into this site.

THAT is what qualifies me to VOICE MY DAMN OPINION. So what, you've posted in your penial mind various post, the same theme runs through them not much of anything creative.

I am published, a member of the academy of american poets and I can THROW DOWN with the best because I LOVE THE WORD. Unlike you who treats the word like a "two dollar ho!"

It is clear that you prefer coming accross as straight "nigga" as opposed to being a "black man"!

This site is not about your little penial length intelligence or so-called wit. This site was started for the poet who takes the word SERIOUSLY, including the condition of our people. Illustrating that the "pen is truly mightier than the sword!!

As a woman I will speak, share and post my opinions as I see fit and it don't have a damn thing to do with desiring your triflin back side.

Clearly, you are replete with insecurity because your smart ass CAN'T take criticism which is a clear sign that you have yet to move past puberty.

Those that know me on this site know how I value the word and will STAND agaisnt anyone or anything that makes mockery of it.

I don't need to request to have you blocked from this site or any other. I have no doubt that so long as you continue with your "Nigga" mentality you will undoubtly ostrasize yourself from this site. Opps, is that word to big for your peezy ass head! (Both heads) Clearly, you use the lowest one with the greatest frequency!

Like brotha Khalid Muhammad said, "when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs the only one that cries out is the one who got hit. Tag, you're IT!

Don't worry my brotha what ever benefit of the doubt I truly attempted to extend to you, that bridge is FOREVER burned. I can take criticism but I have zero tolerance for Nigga s***!

You want to bring life to something start allowing the blood flow to go to your brain and stop speaking through your ass! Punk ass negroes such as yourself give true BLACKMEN a horrible image.

Say what you will, do what you will but you will never be able to throw down the word equivalent to me or all the other SUPREMELY TALENTED BROTHAS AND SISTA'S ON THIS SITE!

As for your various post, you can sprinkle perfume on dog s*** but it still won't cover up the stink! That is what your po'- et- try is to me!

You can kiss the blackest part my brotha! I tried to ignore your rudeness prior, even tried to difuse it with humour. Yet you insult my womanhood, my husbands intergrity and my RIGHT to question you.

It is clear I am not dealing with a "hue-MAN" so now we scrap!

What, when and how you have posted in response to everyone opinions has given birth to nothing but chaos and that is not LIFE! Whatever nightmare you're stuck in you need to WAKE UP! With all your vulgarity proves you're stuck in "baby language" and you're not all that you profess to be, the least of all is a "poet".

It is you my brotha who cannot deal intelligently with a strong, clear minded black woman, your loss! Your responses have been the most vicious towards me therefore who has the "jones" for whom here? I am Mozart, you're just the trash man, so take out the garbage!

I would wish you Peace but clearly that is not your desire.

Sis. Shiree Sarana

I hate to say this BUT I told Y'all! All that refuse to stay within the requests of the moderators should consider your motives and carry that mess someplace else. How would you, who chose to do otherwise, feel if someone tried fronting you in your own "home". It takes serious time and effort to oversee at site of this nature, so please lets try to swallow a little pride and move on. There's nothing to be gained by infringing on the piece and beauty of Sis. Shiree's spot. She takes this very seriously, as she should and to spoil it is just simply not right. She obviously did not want to go that way but some have tied her hands. Lets backup, we all know that the people involved can maneuver words but what we don't know is can they take the high ground. Because if they are truly innocent of the compliants (and if they are) they should be man or women enough to move on. That wouldn't make them a punk or weakling and I wouldn't think less of them for doing so. In fact I would think they were a better man/women, a better person for doing just that. Everyone has gotten their things off, there's nothing else to prove.

Is. Shiree Sarana,
Okay. It is obvious you don't like what I say or the way I say it. And since this is your ball, I will try to leave you to play with it sans the troublemakin' ABM.

But I will ask the artist, not enraged Sistah Gurl, within you to do herself 2 favors:
* Search for and read posts that I have drafted on the Thumper's Corner sites. Then let's have a calm and enlightening discussion about who really "LOVE THE WORD".
* Try to broaden your perspective some. Because one day, you may discover that - after you have exhausted all of your fiery self-righteousness - the truest virtue of any art is not some elusive message it must convey...but that it is PERFORMED at all.

Carey,
You know, I am down with you and all. But if you honestly think that I deserved Sis. Shiree Sarana's maniacal tirade, then I’ll have to suggest that it is time for you to get a lil' more sleep, Brothaman.

But I hear yah.

Yes, I had drafted a sarcasm-strewned response to her venomous post. Actually, you'd like it, as it is really more funny than spiteful. But I will observe your wishes and (FOR NOW) try to take the "high ground". :-)

I love T.S. Eliot and proper colloquial usage of Old Engish (even the 800 kind). This poem is just twisted with some Salvador Dali like visuals.

It is good to see the board heating up over a poem.

The thing about Old English is that when it was spoken, it was standard English. People back then wrote that way because that was how they naturally talked. I am not criticizing ABM's love poem per se. I am just distracted by a modern day black man reverting to a manner of speech that he apparently thinks will make him sound like a classical bard. Why doesn't ABM just speak in his own voice? To do otherwise is an affectation and bares no resemblance to the abstract art of Dali. (or the genius of T. S. Eliot)

ha ha ha--Old English 800! Am I the only alkie that caught that. I aint had OE since the early eighties. Hath that not been an eon....I thought ABM talked like that because he had teeth missing in the front. I had no idea that was Old English.
It does make him sound like he knows something, though. I might try to write some Olde English stuff. The liquor store on the corner only got Red Bull though. You guys know you got to look out for the Bull whenever ABM starts out with his Old English poetry, right? Hath I not hitteth the nail upon its head. Or hath I not bumped my head when I do tryeth to writeth whilst sipping two scores of Ye Olde English 800!

ABM, I knew you had it in you, I am indeed proud of you. You are correct, I didn't think you were totally to blame but it's kind of like when you go to your mother or grandmothers house, you do as they wish. Not just that they are women but out of respect, even if you think they are wrong, we gain nothing by flexing on them and I feel we are less of a man if we do. They may even have a little tone on it but you know what I mean, I am more than sure you do. Thanks Man!

To Carey,

thank you for recognizing the sole purpose of my posting. No, it is not easy moderating poetry because unlike fiction, the one's that post on this site are putting themselves out there. Some are open to constructive criticism and question others are others....

Book Father,

I'm not some "Little gal" on this site I'm the Originator of it. Check my her-story, ask Troy if you need clarification!

With that said, yes that would make you a "guest" in MY house. Perameters were set as to how this site would flow before you and your "namesake" found it. I set that tone and the boundaries.

Open dialogue yes, open verbal assault has never been in the concept or accepted by myself or the other Poetree family members on this site. I wanted this site to have a "family, peaceful, safe" feel to it and yet it is being turned into a poetic brothal by some.

I have only spoken on the poem/poetry. Read the beginning of the thread and you will note I was the First to say the piece in question needed to be extended.

NOONE on this site is beyond poetic questioning or constructive criticism. My sex, sensuality, spirituality nor how often I post do not exclude me from the dialogue.

If you want a Fraternal Poetry order then start you own but that mentality has no place here.

I didn't call U boy don't reference me in the plantation lingo of "gal"!

It's about quality, not quanity. Substance NOT mindless, random thoughts of nothingness. It's about finding "Your" voice not imitation.

If you need poetic examples of the Poetree family members that produce just that, read King Kev, Cynique, dpoetist, chris hayden, lambd all of these brothas and sistah's "bring it" consistently.

I draw guidance from the forefathers and mothers like Countee Cullen, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Gwendolyn Brooks, Amiri Baraka, Sonia Sanchez and Ntozake Shange. These are the "poets" that wrote/write for their Black nation and the "upliftment" of the Hue-man condition.

Therefore, I am not "elitest" or some "poetry deity" but I strive to write in the "bold" fashion that they did. They did it, I continue to have the "faith" that we can as well if we would but rise to the occasion and accept the "challenge.

Carey, I accept "no fault" in being disrespected to the lowest, sexist, vile level. My only mistake was trusting that "constructive" criticism would be recognized for just that, my being a woman should not be an issue. There are "strong" sistah's on this site and we have the right to be and speak as WE feel without being attacked or reduced to some base level lusting.

A Brotha Ryhmes,
my opinion is valid whether you know me or not. What is it? You like it, I don't, move on!

Because I dislike this piece justifies you and others to demean my character and womanhood? Are you as bold in the face of white supremacy? HHMMM, that would be the question? That system is your true enemy yet you, and others attack me like I'm your natural enemy.

I've always been about poetry, not about attacking any particular person but I won't be a punk for nobody!

I took ALL I could stand and then enough is enough! Some of you are comfortable with your "defintion" of "directness" but are hypocrites when that same directness in leveled towards you. That's your drama not mine.

Peace & Blessings
Your Sister In The Word

Sister Shiree

Book Father was not talking about you when he referred to the "lil girl" that the POEM is about.

He's referring to Snake Vampira Girl. Re-read his posts and the ones that came before it asking that a certain person's name not be mentioned.
