I Am Woman! Created from the rib of man whom God formed from dirt and sand...beginning civilization 4 out of my womb came man as my thighs spread wide and my hips prepare 2 give birth 2 Nations, somehow in the equation u got lost and declared Me your enemy! Started disrepecting me, sexing me and calling me out of my name...B-i-t-*-*, u know the rest this and H-o that, unh, unh, scratch that! I Am Woman! bone of your bone, flesh of your flesh, hating me IS hating yourself! I Am Woman! lest u forget... u passed throught these legs, from these breast u were fed and yet these very childbearing hips u now say are tooo thick, along with my nose and my lips!? As u run 2 other races trying 2 erase this, escape this and replace this. Harboring self-hating, degrading, E-masculating , unappreciating, BLACK FAMILY SEPARATING thoughts that consume your mind time after time, each time u press rewind u try and hide cuz...all u see is our foremothers being raped and right before their face, our forefathers being beat and hung...so u run and u run! But, I need u 2 see that this thing is deeper than u and me, see, let me try and break this thing down s-l-o-w-l-y: a long, long time ago, it was your rib that brought me here! I am because you were, the Creator knew just what He was doing because He made us in His image, which means your beauty is my beauty and our beauty is Blinding because He is the Light, so stop rewinding and press fast forward! If u love who made u, it becomes easy 2 love u and even easier 4 u 2 love me, beautifully because loving me IS loving yourself! Then u will overstand that we are not just descendants of a great heritage but the remnant which came from dirt, sand, a quick breath bringing forth man, your rib making woman, from whose womb came the very Nation that we should be educating! I AM WOMAN! and I am beside every good man, so stand Man! God gave u dominion, power is in your hand, stop running and Stand, Stand! Stand! 4 yourself and 4 me, your WOMAN! Rondall- I appreciate your "Amen" but i'm a little confused as to the fire and brimstone, please enlighten me on why you felt that. This piece is in celebration of being a Sistah and a wake up call to the brothas that we still have their back, sides and front...if only they would let us.
