Greetings to all!

Wow, the poetry on the site is still amazing as well as the commentary. When brotha Troy and I discussed bringing this board back that was my vision, to have poets have a warm, safe place to express the higher elevation of poetry. Feeling free enough to challenge and question ourselves as poets and define for ourselves what poetry is about. The US by US for Us is the purpose of this board. With that said, I am posting a piece Black Woman's Booty. For those who are familiar with my work you will immediately notice this is not my signature style but the beauty of poetry is the freedom to always reach, strecth to another level of presentation and sometimes in life, one can't take themselves so seriously.

BLACK WOMAN'S BOOTY

Black Woman's Booty
Flat ass no where to be found
Enuf round to make a brotha
Go down and not come up for air

Our booty be fine
Bubbling Brown Suga fine
The kind that makes a
Brotha wanna holla
And smack it in 4 beat time

So you fools who call the White Woman
Queen
Damn you both - because I got
What seh dreams
I got back, booty, behind and ass
Whether brotha's are walking or driving
My ass he can't pass without a
Wink and a smile

If you want to know the
Circumference of the earth
Just pull out the measuring tape
Wrap it around as sista's chocolate
booty girth

See our crown and our glory
Is what lies in our mind
But there is no comparison to
The Black Woman's behind

We have what brotha's pray for
Have gone to war for
Struttin' like Peacocks
Trying to grip that booty lock

Black Woman's Booty
Is no joke
'Cause it ain't found on
Ordinary folk

So you white women
keep trying - Keep paying that
Plastic Surgeon
'Cause what sistah's got is
In our genes

Whether it be Fubu, Kalvin Klien,
Phat Pharm, etc.
Sistah's fill them out
No questions no doubts

Why settle for the cheap imitation
When the elimination has already been
done Black Woman's Booty is da' bomb
No questions We've won!

So brotha's when your queen walks
By and you can't complete your
Sentence
Just drop to your hands and
knees asking for that Big Booty
Repentence

Stick with the original
Leave that fake alone
'Cause when she's riddin'
You and your grippin' her
All your grabbin' is
her bones

Black Woman's Booty
All Hail the Queens
Ain't a woman on thi
Earth got a better lookin'
Ass in those jeans

We got it! Yea, I said it!
Leave no doubts
I've just broken down
The Black Woman's Booty
Tellin' yall what it's
Really all about!

Peace& Blessings

SSS,
What up?

I had a poem on the old board called 'Ms. Goodbootie', but I can't find it and I don't have a copy. It was a long time ago and I know you don't remember. You would like it. Your style is so like dat! I miss reading your posts. My friend, Dpoetist, just asked about you, not too long ago. She wrote a book last year and it's really good. Its got some of her best poems in it but it's arranged sort of autobiographical. Very unique. You would enjoy it. If you get a chance, it's called 'Black Butterfly; Soaring on the Wings of Poetry'.
BWS:
I aint know you had a admirable buttox and tight jeans and all a dat. I wanna see yo' black 'n shiny hiney.

WHAT GOOD BOOTY DO

Snowflake ain’t as foine as you.
Still, she’ll work hard 2 fill the need.
And tho’ to you I should stay true.
The ‘Monster’ must ever feed.

I’m down with fidelity.
And can g-4 what that require.
But ain’t no stoppin’ the Jimmy.
From getting ALL of what ‘He’ desire.

See I been made to be a pimp.
And I mean to play out my string.
So til’ this magic wand go limp.
I’ll be bangin’ EVERYTHING.

Thoughts of yo' a$$ can get me high.
It’s so nice, phat and brown.
But she can make a brothah cry.
With how deep she’s going down.

So lemme handle my biz.
Chill...I’ll soon get back with you.
Cause Good Booty is not jus’ what it IS.
Good Booty is what it DO.

To ABM,

I am trying 2 overstand how U believe this piece in anyway connects 2 my flow? If U knew my history on this site as moderator U would have known this is not impressive.

Yes, your opinion is yours and mine is mine. However, how am I supposed to respond to this piece positively? Like sistah's need to read some foolish brotha's desire to be so base level as 2 reduce himself 2 a pimp!

Any Black Woman who has knowledge of self could care less about you "gettin' back 2 her" especially after being trifling enough to brag about being with a white woman. The only thing we would hope 4 is that U grow spiritually enough to see the foolishness in this way of thinking.

This piece is in no way a compliment 2 sistah's because U R reducing us to a mere piece of a** topped off with your inability 2 desire self control. As my husband puts it, "You're allowing the "head" between your legs to govern the "head" between your shoulders! (According 2 your piece!)

This is not an attack, but I am who I am and I had 2 address this piece because in truth it is highly insulting!

The origin of this site is for brotha's and sistah's 2 speak openly through the genre of poetry but never is it 2 be used to be insulting, or 2 belittle. It's clear u have the ability 2 write, now the question is how effective do U wish 2 be and what type of message do U want 2 convey?

My work is about the upliftment of the hue-man condition. Not spew out plantation mentality! My piece was not about "screwing" it is about recoginzing that the "original woman" is just that the Original!

Peace & Blessings

I recall witnessing a clever comedian - I think it was Bill Maher from "HBO: Real Time with Bill Maher" - once opine that one of the biggest impediments to fruitful communication between males and females is that men are often BORED with what women genuinely have to say and women are often OFFENDED by what men sincerely have to say.

OOOh NO! As soon as I read that first line, I knew there would be trouble. SSS, the poem that I wrote a few years ago and posted on the old site was nothing like that poem. ABM, your poem is insulting. I don't think that it is a fair representation of what men sincerely have to say, however, everyone deserves to be heard. I also think that genuine women are never boring. If that's how you feel...that's how you feel, pimp. We have a few women here on the poetree site that have some genuine insights and some very interesting things to say. That's one of the reasons why I continue to tune in.

My 'Inspirational' Sistahs/Brothahs,

I have for 15 years been in love with and faithfully (4-the-most-part) married to a wonderful Black woman. I am proudly raising 2 brilliant/beautiful daughters. I am a dutiful son & son-in-law to 2 remarkable Black women. And most my dearest friends and confidantes are Black females.

I have helped many Black women to earn college degrees, purchase houses/properties, start/maintain businesses, recover from illness, secure their futures, baby-sat their (often bada$$) kids, repair their homes, pay pass-due bills, empty their trash, fend off unwanted male predators, etc. etc...etc. for as far back as I can remember.

Heck! My wife's 90-year-old granny (who is my TRUE 'ace-coom-boom') lives with us.

So ain't NOBODY bearing a stronger allegiance to Black womanhood than does Yours Truly.

Now having declared that, what I REALLY have to say is this: CAN'T ANYBODY TAKE A JOKE DEEZE DAYS?

JEEZ!!!

What was I suppose to do, continue this saccharine lovefest of the wondrous Black Woman's derriere?

Don't get me wrong. Believe-you-me, I am as much an admirer of a sistah's nicely phatted tush as ANY brothah. I even pray to that of my wife's everynite before I lay me down to sleep.

But come on now, yawl. No real harm is effected here. A Brothahman just thought he'd add a lil spice to dis here booty soup.

To ABM,

Jokes we get, insults are just that. If I bored U oh well but that tired speech, "I have black women friends" is as tired as strom thurmond's crap! And he's dead.

You defined yourself as a "self-proclaimed pimp" therein lies the problem. My work bores you cool, ignorance irritates me. You didn't get my piece.

Maybe I should post how great the "white man" is and see if you're still so open to a good "joke". Afterall, he stole your land, stole your mind and stole your WOMAN in your face, still find that amusing?

If u thought belittling sistah's was funny U are clearly mistaken but do your thing my brotha as we will continue to flow up stream as you stay down stream!

Thank U lambd for your insight, I never thought U would write anything demeaning as the piece in question. You've always been about the upliftment of our people. Beautifulwaterstar thanks for the laughs "u wild sis!" Ultimately, we may not be down with what abm stated as a "joke" but we stand for his right to do his thing, as it is our right to say no, we're not going out like that!

Finally, my dear brotha abm (another black man?)
present that piece to all the sistah's that you've helped and see if they find it as humourous as you proclaim! Just a dare! Can u pimp that?

Peace & Blessings

whoa nelly! It's getting hot up in here! ABM, in lieu of all we have been through as a race and all that we have endured, it's just hard to find a piece like that entertaining or funny. I think you should read my piece "I AM WOMAN" as well because we sister's are the mothers of this nation and can't no european woman carry the weight that we have and continue to carry. We not only deserve respect but we DEMAND it! SISTAHPOWER TO THE 5th degree!

As Sis. Sarana stated..."Maybe I should post how great the "white man" is and see if you're still so open to a good "joke". Afterall, he stole your land, stole your mind and stole your WOMAN in your face, still find that amusing?" (I couldn't have said it any better)

I'd also like to see ABM present that "piece" of white joke (yeah right!, comedy) to the black women he claims to adore so much.

Shiree Sarana is right. All this "pimp" is weak to white woman crap is leftover from plantation.
Black men like ABM clearly have serious --anger--at those wonderful black women in his life. IT SHOWZ BIG TIME.

Where is Kola when we need her? I bet she woulda tamed ABM's dimwitted poem with some show nuff Xtra Strangth Clarity. LOL

Love ya ABM. You got talent my brotha, but insensitive sometime.

Check it out brotha. Since the white women get mad play from brothas 24/7 on t.v., movies, clubs always being praised and uplifted by brothas---why can't you let the Sistahs have this one little old thread to get some props without mess'n it up?

You must live in a heavily black area, ABM, and not really in touch with the images flood'n the rest of the country. Playing field ain't even so the Sistas don't like it and rightfully so.

That joke won't funny brotha.

Peace All

ABM just stated what 99% of black men really think and feel bout a black woman.

A few years ago when I realized that black men really didn't care if their children came out black or white and was just as crazy bout some "good hair" as their Mamas, that's when I realized that the White man defeated us long time ago.

Our men don't care bout themselves with regard to race, life is all a Pimp Game, so it's no way for them to see how brutally they diss and disrespect us on a contstant.

But I don't think ABM meant any harm and I do know he loves black women.

Everything was cool until you made that statement about 99% of black men. Are you black? I'm serious; a statement like that and the rest of your slam could not have come from the mouth of a real black women. I have to admit that ABM's sensitivity meter let him down but two wrongs don't make a right and YOU are way out of bounds. Now, do any of you who saw it fit to check ABM see the harm in Ano's post? Is the anger as strong? Are the hands as swift? Huh...or do you'll feel the same way.

But Carey. 99% of BM prally wouldn't mind some "ORAL" and sex with no strings from a White woman, which is what ABM poem said, right?

I not angry at all. I read the poem and came to the conclusion that ABM was expressing what most black men feel about women in general.

All "p___y" is "pie". RIGHT?

I'm a real black woman. You just didn't read the poem or you misunderstood what I said.

Last but not least. I'm not mad at ABM. He's totally cool with me. I understood where he was coming from. He was being honest about how brothers view SEXX.

"Ah, let it indeed be forthwith that I might share with thee a love."(ABM)

My Dear 'Sissy', I was NOT at all bored by your piece. Heck! Honestly, if I didn't enjoy it, I never would have even responded. How bored by it could I have been if I (who have ZERO poetic talent) was inspired to pen a lyrical response to it?

Though I paraphrased Maher's quip in it entirety, what I should have done was emphasize the part about women are often OFFENDED by what are REALLY on the minds of men, which I believe wholeheartedly to be true.

Within all men there is a prurient madness.

You mentioned you are married. I would bet my left testicle that there are things going on in your hubby's dome about a dozen times a day that would make you pee your panties (some may involve you, your sister, your Best friend and that delightfully nubile new clerk at the local bookstore). Well, my poem was just an example of that. That 'Monster' is not the SUM TOTAL of who/what I or what most Black men are. It is a dark and sordid snapshot or a devilish alter ego that all men grapple with.

But foks can't you see the forest for the trees?

I mean, really now. If a were anywhere near as lascivious in my behavior as was suggested in my poem, rather than be tickling your hair-trigger tempers, I would right now instead be out in the 'skreets' in ruthless pursuit of some gullible punanny.

But in truth, the only true 'pimp' left in my household is my 8-yr-old daughter. (THAT chick could 'mack' the Bishop Magic Juan.)

You can talk all you want about how white men defeated us Black men and raped/defiled our women. I am not especially troubled by that. Hey! Bottomline: Africa was not prepared for Europe. And we ALL have paid dearly for that. That is a matter of undeniable fact.

But let a cracker or 2 or even a few try to step to me with that kind of program NOW, and I'll bet my strong right hand and the Smith & Wesson dangling from the end of it that I taste the dying blood of at least 5 of 'em before they've even had the chance to learn the error of what they've sought to do.

You all keep talking about how "insulting" I am being. Well, I double-dare you to be able to recall just 5 really good 'jokes' that SOMEBODY SOMEWHERE wouldn't be 'insulted' by.

And My Brothah Carey, you have yet AGAIN made an EXCELLENT point.

What I find interesting is Black women can rundown Black men all the livelong day. Show me one Best Selling book written by Black woman that DOES NOT take potshots at Black men. If you thoroughly review the archives of this site and countless others, you will find boundless soliloquies and dialogues written about by legions of vengeful Black women who luxuriate in angrily disparaging Black men.

'Sissy', even your poem itself could on some level be interpreted as an unfair slight about how us Brothah's are lustfully seeking to supplant sistah's with White girls.

And us emasculated Brothah's - even those of us who are decent, righteous, responsible - have become so inured to all the shrill verbal savagery that most of us just meekly sit in a corner (with our legs crossed over our shrunken gonads) for fear of being tabbed a (Horror-of-Horrors) 'misogynist'.

But when Black men in any speak their minds, you all start burning your bras and rollin' your necks.

Member of Bilitis: I don't know 'bout you. But where I reside, I see just as many sistah's snuggling up with White men as I do Brothahs with White girls. In fact, my wife and I used to disagree so much about who mate with more Whites, Brothahs or Sistahs, that to decide the argument we have regularly taken to playing this little game whenever we are out dating: She points out the Black Men with White Women, I point out the Black Women with White Men. Whoever has the lowest count must pay for dinner.

Lately, I have often eaten out for free (well, actually I may 'eat' twice in 1-nite - that's if I'm lucky <<hehehe!>>).

Oh! And if anyone going to be "tamed" between the inimitable Kola and moi, you best believe I'LL be the one crackin' the whip.<<wink!>>

Sissy, I am most disappointed by your response (the rebuts of 'others' were pretty much as I expected) not because I thought you would like my (admittedly amateurish) poem. But I had so hoped you would have countered with a better one.

BTW: My wife did in fact read my poem. And her responses were quite typical of those of most STRONG BLACK WOMEN I know. She laughed and said, "NEGRO, PUULEEEZE! Yo' a$$ of ALL people know dem White b#@$&es ain't got NUTHIN' on us SISTAHS!" (I hate it when she's right!)

To ABM!
First of all what's with this "sissy" b.s.? I don't need u re-naming me. I don't live on the platation. U took the time to write out everyone eles' name yet u continue to defile mine. Clearly, your desire is to continue 2 be insulting!
My issue is with the piece u wrote your issue apparently is the fact that I called U on your foolishness. A few years ago there was another "rabble rouser" on this site spouting off vicious diatribes regarding brotha's. The only difference was she was a lesbian, I didn't tolerate her foolishness either. Hence, she no longer comes to this site. As I stated in the beginning, this site is about the upliftment of our people and the hue-man condition.
With that said, we still have to be "truthful". However, we can never be a "cover" for straight out assanine piss poor examples of coined poetry, which is about, as useful as, farting in the wind backwards to smell it. Like Whitney Houston said, "My name ain't Susan and it damn sure ain't "sissy"!
Certainly, you didn't go back far enough into the archives or you would have been properly "schooled" as to the type of works that I put down!
Bottom line, if a "black man" is how u define yourself and not as "pimp" ,your word, then why have your lips and fingers not curled into an apology for the fact that u truly "lost your mind momentarily"? Where is the humility?

As far as you "calling me out" to counter your b.s. for me that is not a difficult thing to do. I did counter you by calling a "spade piece, a spade piece" or shall I say "house negro". Consider yourself one testicle short, because my husband's direct response to you is you must teach your daughter's by example and you are the one that described your daughter as a pimp, well who taught her that?!
Now, bringing this back to the issue at hand, which is the "word", read my new piece, the "jokes on you!"

Peace & Blessings

"Frail can indeed be the veil betwixt amore, malice...and insanity."(ABM)

Please calm thyself My Dearest Sis. Shiree Sarana. I concede that (as I often do) I may have overstepped a boundary.

Please forgive me. Though it might appear otherwise, I sincerely meant to you and to others no enduring animosity.

I have been strenuously trying to wrap up an arduous task over the last few days. And I admit that perhaps to exact a fleeting mental respite I may have too freely let fly some inner imaginings that in hindsight might better have been kept within.

So I shall leave to you and to others more skilled and initiated than I am the pen and discourse of poetry. And please take heart that I and my "coined poetry" will trouble you (and your booty) no more.

Thank you for your clarification, and with that I now have no qualms in telling you that you are 100% off base. I don't know what type of men you've been around but we have pride in ourselves. What makes you think we care to belittle ourselves for a snapshot of sex. Come on, where are you coming from? Do women feel that why about white men and their "head". There are moral issue involved here. There is respect for oneself to consider. I think you need to reconsider your statement. Oh yeah, I read your post and ABM's, there was no misunderstanding on my part. What kind of person would make a statement such as yours. Think about it, first of all you're not a man and if you were you couldn't speak for all black men. Don't be nobodies fool and make such a silly ass statement.

For thou needest not hide
nor whence at his pagan flow
So go ahead and post what U know
Just overstand I am always
watching the flow.

So lay down your ardous task
For truly the Black Man
wears the mask

do not run, hide, nor break
but in the future doest hesitate
for what chimes within
is not always healthy for
the bretheren

But as it was in the beginning
It shall be in the end
I pray ye that the
road U take we will
still remain kin

So you're feeling at your worst
remember your Sister
told U first

In all things there is
a season
But please don't dispose
of reason

For it would be treasonist
of U
2 turn your back on
your poetic crew

4 whatever is lacking
In poetic luster
please don't go out
In contrived filabuster

You said it
We read it
Therein lies the discussion

Just recognize
In this case
You recieved a poetic
concusion

So please my brotha
I say this with
outstretched
hands

Post on the board
Because if nothing eles
You're still
a Black Man!

Peace & Blessings
Your Sister In The Word

The only thing that offended me about your poem, ABM, was that it wasn't funny.

As for the all the incognito posters, why don't they just distinguish themselves by putting a dash and the letter of their first name after the "Anonymous" moniker.

Cynique,
‘Humor’, like ‘beauty’, often "...is in the eye of the beholder."

And although yours was a clever comeback, on this subject I find that it easy for one to lazily SAY what is NOT than it is for one to strive to MAKE what IS.

But I'll be sure to (again) apply your comments in that special warm, dark place of mine where they'll do most good.

You're getting funnier all the time, ABM.( Humor is a very elusive entity and rather than being in the eye of the beholder, it is in the perception of the individual.)

Hey y'all,

ABM doesn't get it! ABM R U a Phd (piled High and deep on his own b.s.?) That piece 'twain't funny, try another one!

My intent behind "Black Woman's Booty" was to create dialogue not "farting in the wind backwards" and passing it off as poetry.

Perhaps, ABM you need 2 read the "de-evolution of poetry" thread 2 get a clearer overstanding of what the rest of us are attempting however wearily to help U get. It's called, "constructive criticism" which one opens themselves up 2 whenever they post.

Hell, we could have just as easily ignored your piece, believe me it's been done. But your piece garned immediate action 2 be addressed.

So we did. Please tell me that's not all you have? I would genuinely like to read something else' hopefully not base level but truly creative.

Peace & Blessings

Sis. Shiree Sarana,
You are FUNNY!

What I find is interesting is that rather than write/post other poems, you are continuing to revel in recounting my alleged inadequacies.

I have already concede that I am likely incapable of penning the brand of poetry that YOU would enjoy. And I even apologized to you and others for any offense I may have caused. But still, you are all up in a brothah's grill.

What does it say about you that you would waste so much of your precious time on someone whose poetic skillz are the equivalent of "...farting in the wind..."?

You say you could have "...easily ignored your piece,..." Yet you have hardly written about anything else. In fact, to better get into your poetic "flow" I searched this site seeking other poems written by you. But what I discovered is that nearly half of your posts that I could find were rebuttals of my poem, which I find to be paradoxically perplexing...

...and flattering.

Honestly, with all of this extra attention, if I didn't know any better, I'd think Sis. Shiree Sarana is carrying a little love-jones for ol' ABM. What's dah matter, Baby. (Your hubby's Viagra has expired?)

Now, I'll try to continue to be respectful of you because I presume you to be worthy of such. But I too am from dah 'skreets', Baby Doll. I can take this thing ANYWHERE you wanna go.

So if you want to make me your whipping boy, that's cool...so long as you know that if you keep it up, a brothah's gonna slap you back on your luscious "chocolate booty", though I sense that you might like that. <<wink!>>

PS: I do indeed have a PHD, I got a summa cum laude P' humpin' D'. (Oh Darn! I do hope that is not too "base level".)

I LOVE Kathleen Cross' Tribute poem. I enjoyed it so much that I had considered writing/posting a respectful 'response' to it. But it seems so intensely personal that I felt I may be intruding.

Besides: I deftly fear yet again incurring the righteous ire of Sis. "you-no-who". HAHA!

This thread has really run its course.

Time for Sister Shiree to show some grace and be the bigger person.

As a black woman, I really didn't care for this poem at all...because I would hope for the day when black men can recognize that we are so much more than "fat asses".

I certainly don't want to think our rear ends are the only PLUS in our column versus white women.

BET showcases enough degrading BOOTY shots. We don't need this.

And Jennifer Lopez has already proven that if black men could "our booty" on a white woman, the'd be GONE. Maybe we need to give our sons something other than "booty poems" and advice in choosing a mate?

I thought Kathleen Cross presented a better set of characteristics to be loved for.

ABM has a playful nature and I think his DISS was kind of deserved by the "booty" poem.

I mean come on, sistahs, are we really that insecure?

Aaight nah, don't y'all put me in that... It's all love over here.

Everyone really does have the "right" to express their likes and dislikes in a forum such as this, but it gets uncomfortable when the comparisons begin.

Every poem is (and should be) different because the emotions and images that inspire it are so different. In His Eyes is about being admired (flaws and all) with loving eyes that see you perfectly.

I thought Sis Sarana's BLACK WOMAN'S BOOTY was, in part, reflecting the resentment that comes from constantly being compared to the media's ideal of what is beautiful and valuable(i.e. skinny, white and no booty) -- and she was saying (shouting) here is a part of me you cannot overlook or diminish (mainstream culture has made an entire industry out of diminishing everything that sings Africa in us).

Writing a poem about the BLACK WOMAN'S BOOTY doesn't say there aren't other valuable parts to admire -- BLACK WOMAN'S TENDER HEART. BLACK WOMAN'S WISDOM. BLACK WOMAN'S SHARP WIT AND TONGUE. BLACK WOMAN'S VERSATILITY.
BLACK WOMAN'S BEAUTIFUL LICORICECHOCOLATECARAMELBUTTERSCOTCHVANILLA SKIN. I suspect all of those could be titles of poems Sis could write, but she wrote about the booty in her poem this time.

Sis started her thread with "...the beauty of poetry is the freedom to always reach, stretch to another level of presentation and sometimes in life, one can't take themselves so seriously..."

Hell, I wrote a poem about how I met my honey at the stoplight on Slauson and Crenshaw (for those who don't know, that's the hood in Los Angeles) and I entitled it "I Knew Better" Even with our slightly ghettofabulous start, (i was talkin' on a cell phone, no less) ;) that man ended up being the love of my life who loved me fiercely, helped me grow, taught my daughters what manhood looked like, and inspired MUCH poetry in the seven years I knew him. I don't mind any poem I wrote about him being critiqued, but I would hate for anyone to compare "In His Eyes" with "I Knew Better" -- they are as different as night and day.

ABM -- I think your poem was a perfect example of why we women get in trouble when it comes to dealing with the physiology of men. Testosterone ain't no joke -- it creates conditions in the male brain and body that make men react to visual stimuli differently than women. We really are wired different. (scientific fact)

We women like to think of our breasts and booties as beautiful accessories first, sex toys second. Y'all tend to see it the other way around. From the time we are teenagers we get all mixed up thinking that when a man we don't know admires our bodies, he is admiring ourSELVES. -- Nine times out of ten that man has already imagined our beautiful accesories contorted into five or six different positions before he even asks for the phone number -- Leads to nothing but resentment and rage by the time we're grown and figure that mess out. (Assuming we do eventually figure that out).

Your poem about getting it from white women didn't bother me in the least -- my only disagreement was your use of the word "need". "Snowflake" might be more apt to give you what you want -- that don't mean she's giving you what you need.

Only a woman who knows, loves, respects and admires you can do that.

Sis. Shiree Sarana (& all others),

Please, don’t pay me so much mind. I mean no real offense to you, your spouse or to anyone else here. I am just a smarta$$ who should probably spend less time with Strunk & White and more time with the Bible.

And as Katrina astutely recognizes, I have a "playful nature". Also, I often assume others will affably discern such and either respond in kind or just ignore me.

I apologize for often being wrong.

I will, however, assert that if you were not (at least subconsciously) enjoying our ongoing little row, you would have cut me off a long time ago.

Also, in spite of all of this consternation, ironically, your poem, my poem and all that has ensued from them have accomplished exactly what YOU said YOU wanted to achieve: "...create dialogue...". Although, the problem with seeking "dialogue" is you can't be sure that you will appreciate ALL that is said.

I did read and enjoy your splendid "TO SISTER TANDY:MY SOUL IN A CORNER" poem. I can not clearly recognize how (or whether) it relates to what has been going on between us. But, it has left an indelible impression on me. :-)

PS: I was speaking figuratively, not literally, about tappin’ your ‘tusher’. The only a$$e$ I have ever REALLY spanked are those of women who begged me for it first. <<wink!>>

Ahhh! Finally. The load on my heavy heart has been lightened. It warms me to the bone to see the two of you lovebirds getting along so spendidly. I'm surprised noone suggested you get a room and get it over with already. Excuse me while I heave my insides. This lovefest is way to sweet, even for a softie like myself. I think I was enjoying the feud more when blood was being drawn everyday. I think the bottom line here is this----Sister SS has a soft shelled heart that got speared one too many times by the likes of mediocre comedians that sometimes write poetry.
Lighten up. He was bad, but I've seen alot worse on the original poetree board. ABM you have talent that peeks out from behind your overeducated intellect once in awhile that you should meter, and consider your audience before you post. Your poem was insulting to the women on the board and it does not speak for most men. I wouldn't have responded at all, except that I wanted to make sure noone mistook your poem for one that I penned here a couple of years ago with a similar name. Just the same, you ARE a funny dude. I'm sure you keep your wife and daughter in stitches. I can picture her when you talk about her reading your poem, snickering and brushing you off at the same time. I can almost hear her saying, "Negro, pulleeeze!"

Lambd,
Now-Now, Lambd. In spite of how contentious this all may have appeared, for me this has always been about LOVE. And I will assume for Sis. Shiree Sarana and others it was that as well.

Actually, I consider my exchanges with Sis. Shiree Sarana to be akin to that of love taps traded between silly kids who have become smitten with each other but don’t yet know how to express what they really feel.

I still am not moved by you and others reiterating how my poem was insulting to Black women. That simply is not true.

In fact, as I previously stated, the poem REALLY was not about Black women as much as it was about how Black men often perceive and behave toward women. I find it humorous that you fail to see that.

And I damn sure know that MANY men (‘straight’ ones, at least) on some level think, feel and even typify the sentiment conveyed in my poem (though "mediocre" and "amateurish" it may indeed be). If that is not, however, what you think and feel on ANY LEVEL, then I would argue that you my brothah are DEFINITELY in the minority.

And you should never fear others confusing your work with that of mine. I am FAR too conceited to permit such a HORRIBLE thing to occur.

SIDEBAR: I have an "overeducated intellect", huh? Hmmmm? I wonder: Can one’s "intellect" indeed be "overeducated"? I am not sure. But I GUESS I’ll view that as a compliment. :-)

Finally, can we be honest now, Brothah-2-Brothah? You and Sis. Shiree Sarana CLAIM that you otherwise "wouldn’t have responded" to what I have written - suggesting to me that you found what I’d written to be unworthy of discussion - when in truth yawl have been CHOMPING AT THE BIT to holla back at a Brothah. And dat’s cool with me.

But PULEASE, playah, don’t BS the BS’er. Otherwise, we are ALL gonna soon be left standing in a big ol’ pile of S’. [HAHAHA!!!]

PS: Lambd, yep, my wife/kids and I have a blast (sorta like the "The Cosby Show" b-4 they got all "uppity Neegrow"). And my wife blares at me your "Negro, pulleeeze!" with regularity. But if you think I am funny, you should hear my 8-year-old. Honestly, that chick could give comedic lessons to "Cedric The Entertainer".

To Sis. Katrina,

I never regarded ABM's piece as a "diss" to mine. U are unaware of my previous works which deal directly with white surpremacy, sexism and the challenges to living/being Black in america.

Thank you Sis. Kathleen for "seeing" that my depth of creativity is so much more than my "booty" piece. As Lambd, dpoetist, king kev, troy and others can bear witness too!

FYI, Katrina. My "Black Woman's Booty" piece was inspired by a conversation that I had with a male mentor of mine, regarding all the "brotha's" I saw hitched up to white girls, that 4 the most part looked liked "trailer trash!"

Again, with blaring clarity, proving "some" brotha's want "white" no matter what she "looks" like! My mentor suggested I write a piece why black women love their behinds, thus I penned BLACK WOMAN'S BOOTY.

No, I am NOT insecure at all. Just expressing a piece to a challenge I was given.

ABM, glad U checked out the piece about Sis. Tandy. That piece is not a "direct" response to what U wrote but just wanted to give U a "clear" example of the "depth" of my writing. (Your challenge 2 me, remember?)

As I have shared with my husband, as I've always been on my board, I strive to "write" to "create" dialogue, not for us to simply "lounge" on the board! My brotha ABM is certainly correct acknowleding that, if nothing eles, that goal I acheived!

Lambd clearly felt my vibe. I have since grown weary of brotha's attempting "poetic expression" with that tired "white woman is goodess" b.s. Sometimes I respond, sometimes not. It's a "woman's right 2 choose", eh?

Sis. Katrina, I have no problem being the "BIGGER" person here. I will address whatever and whomever I so choose and end it when it suits "me". I strive for clarity. U are cleary down for ABM. That's cool, there are no sides here, just honest and direct discussion which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE.

I appreciate ALL opinions and will be the first on the battle field of "free speech" to defend our right to speak our intelligent minds.

Sis. Katrina, others have posted their works on the board, what are U bringing? I look forward 2 reading Y0UR works.

Peace & Blessings 2 ALL

I'm not a poet or writer. Thanks for pointing out that you have many other works about other facets of our womanhood and struggle. I mistook you for some angry, bitter black girl just blowing wind.

Thank you 4 recognizing where I'm coming from. Back in the day I was an "angry black girl" but that was because there were no "real" examples of blackmanhood around me.

When I met my husbant at 21 he has shown me a different world. Teaching me to recognize the difference between a black "male" and a black "man". He has truly helped me to become a BLACK WOMAN! All praise is due to God!

I do usually enjoy your posts and I beg you to continue. I didn't mean to sound like I was trying to BS you. (I know that's not possible. That's like traveling to Wisconsin to sell cheese.)I only meant that I 'wouldn't have responded at all' because I had no reason to, other than to make sure we were aware who posted.
I guess I should have said 'inflated' intellect. Is that clearer. And yes, it was a complement. You remind me of a doctor I used to work with. His dialogue was full of...shall we say--stuff, also. Lot of big words. Lot of confusion on my part. Still, entertaining.

We cool, Lambd. I was mostly just messin’ witchu, playah.

Please don’t get so "All Hail the Dalai Lama!" on me. I am just one of those crazed brothahs who must regularly wet nurse to Webster and Roget because I literally convulse when I see or hear a world that I don’t understand.

Besides, shouldn't a person who genuinely enjoys and promotes reading and writing regularly expand her or his own active vocabulary?

I am not a physician (to the lingering regret of my mamma). But deeze hands (‘Tickle’ ‘tickle’, Sis. Shiree Sarana.) have got da skillz of a board-certified surgeon.

But unlike most doctors I have beautiful handwriting.

I dig your quip about Wisconsin. Yeah, you should not visit Wisconsin to ‘sell’ cheese. You should go there instead to ‘cut’ it.(And please take our flatulent friend Beautifulwaterstar with you. <<pee-u!>>)

I don’t know whether my brainpower is noteworthy. But the 'part' of me I enjoy most being "inflated" certainly is NOT my "intellect". (Right, Katrina? <<wink!>>)

"Ize sahray teh leht yeh down, 'Mawh'. PUUULEEAAZE fergive me! Ize sur’ promiss teh du much bettah!

K?"
