I came across this website on accident and am happy that trusting the process works!!

I wanted to share my poetry with you and have been inspired by what I have read here thus far...

Yellow Sticky-Note to Corporate America

I be that surprise
For under this guise
Of what you'd call civilized
Is what you'd rather think beast
Ravenous, yet filled with knowledge of self
and waiting for a time to feast
I walk amongst you in discontent
Knowing you are not who you say
And like that spook that sat outside your door
that you invited in to stay
What you mistake me for
Is just a ruse
While I seem to play by your rules
My intent is to change the game
Make a pathway for those
Who choose not to wear the mask
We're making plans to inherit
What our rich past demands
So when the time is right
The Underground Railroad wil be reactivated
For we are cultivating conductors
Right under your nose
While you suppose we are content
With as is
By the time you figure it out
Our feet will be so far up your asses
That you won't even know what happened
Ammassing real wealth
Not diamonds and platinum but
Property and tax bracket brakes
That will shake the foundation of this nation
And turn the tide of displacment
You have grown complacent and fat off your kills
But the blood you've spilled
Will be back to haunt you
In the form of this
Black business suit clad
Black female with her
Black Ahnk on her
Black back
Breaking your glass ceiling
Leaving shards of glass in you psyche
There will be a reversal of fortune
A changing of the gaurd
And although it may seem odd right now
Even the one who you call GOD
Will be unmasked
to reveal that even the Dieties steal
While we steal away sweet jesus
And take back our rightful place
The last shall be first and the
The first shall shall have last place
The seeds you've sown in the past....
Now bear fruit

I know this is kind of verbose but I wanted to get some feedback on it. Let me know what you think...

Beautifulwater and Faye, your poetry is very compelling, especially because of the subjects you chose to vent about.

lol Cynique, you sure have a way with words, U know that? (I know you do.:p)

The thing is though, I basically just write what I feel.. You'd probably be surprised if you could see the whole of even one folder.

Faye, are you from The U.S.? Also, who are some of your favorite poets/authors?

SOOOO sorry to respond so late to these posts but I have just begun my teaching 10 grade English and Drama... I am so GLAD (actually estatic!!) to see that someone liked my poem and took the time to respond. My favorite poets/authors change all the time, but as it stands right now - octavia butler, nikki giovanni and bell hooks are at the top of the food chain for me... then there is tannarive due, walter mosely, shay young blood and micheal datcher...
beautiful water star - yes, i am from the us. i am a black woman and i have recently moved to Philly...
