Poetry Writing Residency
This workshop is unique in that it focuses on raising students’ self-esteem, improving decision-making and exploring career choices while teaching the mechanics of writing poetry. Through the use of role-plays, interactive games and positive quotes, students feel safe to have fun and learn.

Students will write original poetry from themes selected by the instructor as well as themes of their own choosing. Every session includes collaborative writing, individual writing and sharing of students’ work.

Goals For Residency
• Students demonstrate poetry writing skills
• Students write different forms of poetry (ballad, haiku, limerick, etc.)
• Students demonstrate understanding of different beats and rhythms of limericks
• Students understand metaphor and similes
• Students learn how to copyright their work
• Students explore and demonstrate presentation skills
• Students develop effective communication skills (tone, words, body language)
• Students complete 7 poems on various topics and in different forms (15 sessions or more options)
• Students perform their work in a culminating event
• Students’ work is compiled into an anthology

Conflict Resolution Series
Did you know that conflicts seldom go away by themselves? They require open, clear, deliberate communication in order to be resolved.
