I was listening to Anthony Hamilton's cd last night-Comin' From Where I'm From. I've had it for about a year now and each time I listen I am moved. He has a brilliant down home-sultry--cornbread, fish and collard-greens-sound to his voice that makes you keep remembering what good music sounds like. What good music issssss. He is refreshing and beautiful and on this album seems fresh and untouched--I hope he can keep it up for his sophomore--But I am going on...so-

Please check him out one way or another!! You can check his website--Anthony Hamilton.com--or listen to clips on Amazon.

Enjoy--and tell someone else to enjoy while you're at it.

This poem is for Anthony Hamilton and it is a freestyle.

"Thankyou, Brother Anthony Hamilton" Watastar

Anthony Hamilton,
You sing
From your SOUL
I can feel it
I can feel it.
I burn incense to your smokey melodics
You sing with the pain of the black man
I know that and I respect that and I FEEL that
As a black woman,
I hold my belly and wail for our brothaz, for sistaz, for our ancestors when you sing...
You have power in your voice.
You do something to my womb
I hear you and it goes directly to my soul
Dang, Brother, I thank you
We all thank you.
Our souls were withering
They were so dry
So dry until they cried out without shedding the first tear
Simply because they were too dehydrated to make tears
But you came
And you watered us
Thank you
You watered our souls and helped them to again bloom
This is not really how I write poetry,
But I WILL sit down and write something for you soon.
Thank you so much, you are special to us.
Thank you so much.
We appreciate you, Bro. Anthony Hamilton
Thank you.
There are not too many people that make me cry when they sing
LOL Not even in church when everyone else was crying after a song would I cry
But the song of YOUR soul?
Oh my!
When I hear you sing,
It's just like when I hear Gil Scott Herron sing certain songs
It hits something so deeply within
And sincerity and talent are all I hear from beginning to end.

Thank you, Anthony Hamilton. Thank you. I salute you.
