Serenasailor, what planet are you from? I'm hoping that this is actually just a half-witted attempt at humor. Please let me know that you don't really believe this to be a genuinely insightful comment.

Face it, Rustang, Serenasailor is an irrational black bigot. He blindly hates not only all white people, but also all light-skinned blacks - either that, or he is a role player.

Correction Cynique! I do not hate light-skinned blacks since my father was the yellowist man in history. But you are right in the fact that I do hate white ppl.

There's a thin line between love and hate, Serenasailor, and the fact that you passionately hate white folks instead of just blowin them off would seem to indicate that you have hidden issues.

I don't agree with you at all, Serenasailor, and I find this thinking very racist.

However, what I find more interesting is that these same people said NOTHING when people came onto this same site to tell us how nasty, whorish, fat, low class, and ugly black women were. But as soon as a white person is denigrated, they're here to defend his/her honor.

Actually, Renata, what's interesting is that as of late, EVERYONE can actually post an opinion or thought without being castigated with the name calling, vile pictorials, and crass behavior that had come to be expected from the boards. Many, like myself, avoided posting because it wasn't worth the ensuing battle we had all come to expect because it has been played out so often, for so long, that unless you just wanted to get in the middle of the mayhem, it wasn't worth the energy. When you know how the conversation is going to play out, why bother to play at all?

This isn't about defending anyone's honor but about actually being able to be heard no matter what the comment / opinion.

Oh, I get it. When it's the BLACK WOMAN being called names out of her character, we shouldn't be bothered to say anything, it's just a drain of energy. Why get your blood pressure up telling someone that black women aren't the whores people try to label us as?

Now that a white person is denigrated, we're offended enough to speak up about it. Somehow THIS is worth energy draining arguments and name calling.

See, it's this very attitude that turns people off.

Honestly, had SerenaSailor said:

"You notice how BLACK ppl smell like a wet dogs ass? Do you also ever notice that BLACK ppl have bad teeth? I heard that some BLACK ppl only bathe once a week. Have any of you ever noticed this?,

And those who commented could have done so in the exact same manner as they did, the conversation would have been very different from previous conversations wherein SS would have been spewed with every four-letter word in the English language. Would anyone who actually believed SS have learned anything to be able to rethink their views? I highly doubt it because the presentation in all its crudeness, all its vile rhetoric would have overshadowed the message and lesson that should have been taken away.

And had SS said such about a black woman, most know there are enough "characters" on this board who would have been lined up to spew about it.

Every issue is not about white women/people or black women/people. And it never was, but when EVERY comment or conversation gets twisted to be about race relations and colorism with a book plug tagged on the end, then no, it isn't worth the energy.

There can be no discussion, no debate if we all take one view and spout the exact same mantras. None of us will learn or be exposed to anything different if we are not willing to be open to the possibility that our viewpoint should be questioned. It's not about following the status quo, but about challenging it to see if it can stand the true tests of time. I don't have to agree with you, but come at me in a manner wherein I can examine and consider your position without feeling condemned or being berated and insulted and you're almost guaranteed to get my respect.

I responded to "the ethiopian"'s rants on numerous occasions. Did you, Renata?? And no one was defending white people. All anybody did was to imply that Serenasailor was stooping to the level of white bigots, and if he wasn't always putting down light-skinned people and calling them a bunch of names, I for one, wouldn't have said anything.

All I'm saying is (arguments aside):

Defending the black woman's character is energy draining, according to you.

How is defending other people's character somehow NOT?

How is telling (if angrily) people that black women REFUSE to be labeled as they are twisting it to be about race? But getting offended because a white person is labeled is, what....doing what's right and defending someone against racist rants?

I don't care that you don't agree with SS. Truthfully, I don't agree with him here either.

But, if you TRULY believe in being a non-racist, you could at least defend people EQUALLY.

You made sure you shut the hell up and didn't want to get bothered or drained of your energy when BLACK WOMEN were called nasty, whores, sluts, baby mamas, fat, etc. That people HATE black women isn't even worth getting upset about.

Be EQUALLY non-upset about white people being called the same.

Reneta you have a point. An extremely interesting one at that. I started posting on these boards ONLY because Kola was out, and NOBODY - I mean NOBODY - was defending against the vicious attacks that were being hurled at black (particularly dark-skinned) women at the time. (Oops! Except Moonsigns and some biracial chick and that dude from Africa, the guy with the numbers behind his name.) So you definitely have a point.

And something else I've noticed....

When people feel Light-skinned women are being attacked, EVERYBODY and their DADDIES, their GRANDMOMMAS come out of the woodwork. Compare that to when dark-skinned women are attacked. Pay attention next time. I swear to god. Pay attention.

No, what I said was, "Many, like myself, AVOIDED POSTING because IT wasn't worth the ensuing battle we had all come to expect because it has been played out so often, for so long, that unless you just wanted to get in the middle of the mayhem, IT wasn't worth the energy.

You chose to twist and/or misconstrue my words to validate your position. I agree whole-heartedly that the character of black women should be defended just as vehemently. How I chose to do that may well just not be your way or Cynique's way or anyone else's way. You presume I chose to just "shut the hell up", because it serves to support your claims.

Racist views, be they black or white, are racist views. Personally, I won't defend, approve, or promote them from anyone. Defending an individual's character because it's the right thing to do is about it being the right thing to do, not right only if their black or right only if they're not white.

There can be no EQUALLY if my opinion is deemed "invalid" and percieved as "white" because I may or may not agree with another's opinion. Our individual opinions are based on our personal experiences and I would venture that not one of us shares the exact same day to day life experiences.

As well, this is the first time that I have actually had the time or the inclination to post more frequently or regularly. First - when I'm on tour or in the middle of a major writing binge, the most I have the mindset to do is lurk. Secondly, there are some times when you come midstream into a thread where your opinion has already been voiced and you don't see a need to restate it. And too frequently, the threads have just been so disheartening, so vile, that the messages get so lost beneath the name-calling and constant disparaging dissertations that it's not been worth the bother. When there is a storm brewing full force, it's difficult to find the calm and quiet in the midst of it. To jump in you risk being lost and consumed by the ugly of it. To do so when you know there is no hope is one thing. To do so when you know there is, is another.

Maybe it's time you got off the playground and actually experienced a little more of this big, wide world....

I didn't even read all of that, but the first paragraph.

You AVOIDED posting to defend the Black woman.

AVOID posting to defend the White man.

You AVOIDED the "mayhem" of defending the Black woman.

AVOID the "mayhem" of defending the White man.

That would be the EQUAL thing to do.

But, then again, you know the saying about some being "more equal" than others.

You're arguing here, also, but somehow, this defense is WARRANTED. Defending your own people, a waste of time.

I won't waste MY time. If you don't get it, I can't teach it to you.

I have read many of Babygirls posts and I agree with her 120% I have also seen her make intelligent commentary against those who were making unfair assaults against black women, such as the lady who went to the college to speak and they wouldn't pay her cab fare. There have been others. I have seen the nastiness and pettiness she describes and that's why I barely post either. I'm too grown for this mess. SerenaSailor was plain flat out wrong and all this other diversion is unnecessary. Wrong is wrong. Period. Renata you shouldn't try to pin this on Babygirl just because your argument doesn't hold water.

Renata, you remind me so much of a child who's near and dear to my heart that I want to hug you and shake you in the same breath.

You said: "You can't be bothered to type a few words to defend the entire race of black women."

Those are YOUR words, NOT mine. In fact I have typed whole pages and full books about the beauty and strength of black women. I write about black women who are above and beyond what others imagine her to be.

What I can't be bothered to do is mire myself in the vile and continuing volatile discussions that consume this board about a subject that has no definitive answer or solution. It's wasted energy to repeat the same things over and over again when that energy can better be served DOING something.

I hear and understand your frustrations. But what are you doing to change opinions, make a difference and show that as a black woman you have value, you are beautiful and that you matter more in this world than anyone else? The continuous rants and postings on this board aren't doing it. This board is barely a footnote in the world of message boards out here. You believe like others that Kola is doing something, but even more aren't getting her message because of how she's presenting it and herself.

There are some battles that can be easily won and some that will continue to play out for years to come. I chose to wage war against those things I can make an impact on. You and I don't have to agree what that venue should or shouldn't be.

Be EQUALLY non-upset about white people being called the same.

I'm glad that I am getting this response. I started this thread for a reason. I wanted to see if ppl would defend a white persons honer the same way they would Um lets say "black women". And I see that they don't.

Ppl get all up in arms when they talk about white ppl. But these same ppl are mysteriously quiet when some ignoramus black man comes in here and trashes black women, and tries to justify his love of white(non-black) women. If only you black men put as much time and energy in defending your women the way you do your slave masters. We would all be much better off. SHAME ON YOU!!

P.S These black ppl running to the defense of white ppl reminds me of the black confederate soldiers during the civil war.

Some people just happen to be a part of the HUMAN race, Serenasailor, and they don't resort to lies and distortion in order to make their case even if that's what their enemy might do. What you said was so ridiculous that nobody but a bunch of ass-sniffing fools would relate to it. And HOW could you EVER think black women are not being defending on this site. That's ALL you, Kola and her mouthpieces do. Nobody else can get a word in edgewise on the subject. At least make intelligent arguments. And where do you get your infomation that black slaves FOUGHT on the confederate side during the civil war? Yes, blacks did fight in the union Army.

First of all Cynique. Let me say that you prove my point exactly. Black ppl running to the defense of white ppl and not knowing who they are. If you ever studied history you would learn that alot of black men fought for the Confederate side. You will also learn that alot of well-to-do blacks also owned slaves. And, you will also learn that black ppl also sold other blacks into slavery in West Africa. They did this so that their own children could attend "fine" European schools. My sistah, Please Do your Homework.

I am well aware of everything you say, Serenasailor. That's what so vexing about you. Nothing you inform me of is a revelation. It's common knowledge. Your rhetoric harks back to the 1970s. BTW, although slaves did aid and assist the confederate armies, they never wore uniforms or took up arms and fought in battles.)But that's OK. You have your supporters, so carry on. Go back to sniffin whites people's asses? I'm tired of this dreary subject.

Actually, some black soldiers did were Conferderate uniforms. That is why the Union army would punish some of the black soldiers so harshly. And, when slaves were captured in a Union P.O.W camp in Chicago during the Civil War with uniforms they were punished more severely than their white counterparts. And if you are so tired of "this dreary subject" don't respond to it.

If you will notice, ABM, the light-skinned posters are always on the defensive because the darker skinned ones have deemed light folks to be persona non grata in the black race. I remain in the fray because I don't think people like me have to stand idly by and let darker people villainize and plot the doom of light-skinned people for that which they had no control over. And, all of these "authentic" black pretenders need to be constantly reminded that they do NOT have a monopoly on blackness.
Serenasailor, I find it incredible that slave masters would equip their slaves with uniforms and arm them with guns and trust them not to run away. This goes against all Southern tradion. Did they have a special unit?? The slaves, who accompanied their masters to war mostly dug trenches, cleared roads, groomed horses, scavenged for food and nursed the sick, and could have taken uniforms from fallen soldiers.

Cynique,

Honestly, I concur with Kola's basic argument that there is great harm being done Africa and its Diaspora via adopting/maintaining Eurocentric beauty standards.

I have young daughters. I want them to love how THEY look.

And I shudder to IMAGINE what kinds of headjobs are going to be done to them concerning how they should LOOK to be considered beautiful.

However, I think its almost IMPOSSIBLE to assert/maintain any effective assault against those standards given where we are and the circumstances upon which we are made to think, dwell and live.

Simply: This is a (somewhat) free society. So how can and why should Person A be able to demand that Person B look and desire what Person A think Person B should look like and desire (Again...in a (somewhat) free society.)?

Well, ABM, what you say certainly reflects my feelings on the subject. And I think most reasonable black people feel this way. You just cannot make other people conform to your personal standards. And I have always contended that blackness is not totally sacrificed by striving for the American standard of beauty because certain traits inherent in this look such as full lips and high-cheekbones and voluptuous behinds and tanned skin and hair with a lot of body are more Negroid than Caucasoid. Color is not the only race marker.

Cynique,

You make a valid point about standards of American beauty being more Black than often recognized.

Most of my favorite White female movie stars like Rita Hayward, Ava Gardner, Marilyn Monroe, Susan Hayward and others were sort Black in the ways you describe.

But I do agree with Kola that Black men need to honor the (REAL) inner and outer beauty of Black women much more so than we do. It is not only to your benefit that we do, it is to our own.

Doing as you suggest might be incompatiable with them exercising their freedom of choice, ABM. Black men do pretty much what they want to do and black women will also have to make some adjustments in order to be more supportive of their men. The good news is that most black men end up with black partners.

I believe in free choice. But I also believe there are times when for the majority or whole of a society/community a greater good SHOULD prevail over/above what an individual might otherwise want to do.

For example, I might as an act of individual choice choose to neglect, starve and abuse my children. But thank GOD our society (albeit to a dwindling degree) compels my choosing otherwise.

I've stopped presuming to prevail upon what another Black man (or woman) must do. I have ideas I'll continue to share now/again. But for now, I just mostly look about me, shake my head, embrace my kin/friend...and pray.

Cynique go to the library and read up on black history. Towards the end of the Civil War there were practically no more young white men in the south left to fight. So they had to start using there slaves.

As far as I know, people are not being forced to conform. You either agree with Kola or you don't. And I don't know if you all come into contact with dark-skinned folks regularly, or have honest conversations with them about color, but more of them agree with Kola than you guys realize. It's a shame that we don't get to hear from average folks (on these boards) more often. Most of the people who post here are college grads and, I'm assuming, from middle class backrounds and/or are now a part of that class; and most are not dark-skinned. To some of you what Kola says is a bit foreign. But this is nothing new to regular folks, mainly the dark ones. They're not conforming to anything new. They've been feeling this way forever. You'll see because change is coming soon; in fact, some of it is already underway.

Did it ever occur to you that maybe you live in a vacuum, Tonya?? You are assuming that the things you say about the people who come to this board are true. And nobody is naive enough to think that what Kola claims doesn't exist. Who doesn't know about the color caste system? It's been around for 400 years. But it's Kola's in-your-face, take-no-prisoners attitude that motivates people to question her radical approach. She polarizes people. And when change comes then the black race will simply divide into sub-divisions. There'll be no winners. Not in this country, anyway.

Tonya:

The only people who are questioning her are those who obviously do not know; because if they knew it like the majority of black folks, they'd understand her attitude and applaud her approach - as do the masses. Even those dark-skinned folks who do not know a thing about Kola.. agree with her perspective and understand her approach; and they've been doing so for a long time. So what I'm trying to get you to understand is, you are the the one who is stubborn, unconventional, and uncompromising. Within our community, Kola's views are mainstream. Yours, on the other hand, are old-fashioned and out-of-touch. Most do not agree with you. Though you're right about one thing: I do not know enough about the board members to draw conclusions on their lives. But their sentiments regarding Kola's philosophy, for obvious reasons, do not match the mood of the black majority; and that was my point.

That's a miiiiighty broad statement you are making, Tonya. One that makes you comfortable to believe. Let's deal with the truth. Kola Boof is not the voice of black mainstream America. That's why she does not command wide-spread popularity. She ridicules black women and castigates black men even as she suck up to light-skinned celebs and and idolizes white legends of show business. She preaches eliticism and militant retribution and employs emotional rhetoric to try and make her points. And just what am I saying that is old fashioned?? That I will not become the scapegoat for a duplicitous carpetbagger from Sudan and her hard core followers in their campaign to exile from the race, me and anybody who doesn't meet with their standards?? Go back to the drawing board, and come back with a more viable argument.

Also, Tonya, would you please state the specific goals of those who embrace the Kola Boof credo? And what concrete plans are there for implementing these goals? And who will be in charge of whipping 25 million black people into line so that they won't stray from the straight and narrow path of the Authentic elitists? Do you anticipate that White America and all of its other ethnic groups will cooperate in this reform movement? And do you really believe that what Kola boof enunciates is new? Do you think that Black people have not been lamenting colorism for at least 100 years but have been thwarted by sociological and economic forces that are beyond their control? Are you aware that you belong to a minority in a country which is the most powerful nation in the world? Do you know the difference between talking a good fight and carrying one out? In 10 years how do you expect things to be different? And are the questions I ask those of a pragmatist or someone who is stubborn and old-fashioned?

You're right:

Kola Boof IS NOT the voice of black mainstream America.

But her words are....

You may not like her style/"rhetoric"; but you HAVE TO respect her words.

Because as cold-blooded as they might be..

they are indeed the thoughts of the mainstream.

Scary isn't it?

***And just what am I saying that is old-fashioned??***

The one drop rule was eventually embraced by Slaves and Negroes....

But, despite the fact that, genetically, we, the black maintream is still pretty much the same as its ancestors, its awareness/concepts have changed drastically (yes, radically!).. as one would expect, with the passing of time.

Well if Kola is not the voice of mainstream black America, then neither are her words. Mainstream black America has a broad spectrum of approaches in dealing with the face of America and these attitudes do not necesssarily coincide with what Kola is ranting about. And I repeat: what Kola is saying is not new, its just re-cycled for this naive generation of people who think she has had an epiphany.

But in spite of what you want to ignore, a person who has one black parent is half black whether you like it or not. And the more I hear your argument, the more irrelevant it becomes. Who besides the so-called "authentic" people care about "authenticity". Black idividuals define themselves, and don't really give a damn about a bunch of mopes standing around decreeing who is what. I'm sure Obama couldn't care less about your self-serving criteria.

LMAO It's typical of your generation that you think that Google is the source of all knowledge. How about I google my memory and tell you that for years and years The Black Muslims have been saying what Kola says in their newspaper "Muhammad Speaks", as did all of the Afro-Centric Black Nationalist groups during the 1960s. Back during the Harlem Renaissance artists spoke out about the color caste system. It was common knowledge that no dark-skinned women could be dancers in the chorus line at the famous Cotton Club. And is what Kola saying any different than what her hero Marcus Garvey advocated. Also, Malcolm X spoke about why he married a chcolate brown skin woman. When I was young, the expression that "if you're white, you're all right; if you're yellow, you're mellow; if you're brown, you stick around; if you're black you get back" was a standing joke. Nobody had to write a book about this because everybody, including white folks knew that colorism exists. And how powerful can kola boof be if she can't even get her book out on schedule. BTW, I notice you didn't respond to my questionnaire about the stated goals of the kola kult. heh-heh.

And oh yes, the book "The Blacker The Berry" by Wallace Thurman was written back in the 1930s during the Harlem Renaissance and everything that comes out of Kola's big mouth echos what was written in this novel, not to mention your favorite book "The Bluest Eye" by Toni Morrison.

First of all, I said give me "raw"....

Wallace Thurman & Toni Morrison are great authors and pioneers, but, for their time, they could only get but so raw. "Airing our dirty laundry" was not in style.

Colorism happens to still be the most taboo topic within our community....

That fact alone disputes all of your claims; but to drive my point even further.. I'm not talking about no 30 second sound bites.... If you think Malcolm's explanation for why he married a brown woman or some "artist" speaking briefly about "the color caste system" adequately addresses colorism.. not only are you an insult to your own intelligence, you are an insult to black, black folks
as well.

Good grief. Where do you get the idea that colorism is taboo in the black community????? Why would it be??? That's BS. Especially since you claim this subject is on everyone's lips and the "authentic" movement is growing by leaps and bounds. There's NOTHING hush-hush about colorism. Even little kids know about it. Kola Boof could shout her message to the skies and nothing she said would shock people because the vast majority of them don't know her from Adam and what she is sayin all boils down to what everybody knows: that American society is not color blind and that black folks get the worst of it. This discussion is going nowhere. Your tunnel vision blinds you. Come see me in 10 years.

But that's what you do when that's all you can do -- I understand.

Actually, Cynnique..

I'm not sure if you are as ignorant as you're making yourself out to be.

So I'll just let it go.

Yes, just let it go and try to blame YOUR ignorance on me. You are really having a time coping with a point of view that doesn't reinforce yours, aren't you? And you certainly could've earned some points, if you had responded to the list of questions I posed to you, but you obvious didn't have any answers or maybe you were too preoccupied with dreaming about finding you a white man who would fulfill your secret dream of having light-skinned kids. Run along, Tonya. You've been had.

Lets see if you have the guts/ignorance to say it one more time.

Below are the question that I asked you in a previous post.
Tonya, would you please state the specific goals of those who embrace the Kola Boof credo?

What are you talking about, Cynnique??????

See that's what I mean; you do not understand.

Do you really think that authentic black folks EVER saw Quadroons, Octoroons, Mulattoes, Mongrels, Cablasians, Malasians, any of them as black?

Do you not think people have eyes? What are you crazy?

Do you expect people to think so, just because someone says it's so? expect them NOT to believe their own eyes?

Why do you think some lightskinned people have to PROVE their blackness? Think about it. If they were black just like the rest of us, they wouldn't have to proooove anything. How many darkskinned people have to prove blackness? Not even Clarence Thomas have to prove he's black!!!!!!

We have been taught to be polite AND to pretend like these people are us?

But do you really think we believed it?

How naive can one be???

So, you see, your questions don't make sense.

It's already been implemented.

It's already been done.

If you'd had your wits about you, tonya, all you would've had to do was to answer my first question and the rest would've fallen place. I have yet to figure out what the ultimate goal of the "authentic" movement is. And I don't think you have either, air head. It ain't my fault if you can't express yourself lucidly. You gave no frame of reference for your response; you simply went off on a tangent bitching about a lot of vague nonsense. And I'm sure you will be happy to hear that thanks to being turned off by you and the Kola Krew, I've really lost interest in the injustices of colorism. Shit happens.

The "authentic movement" is something you created in your mentally unstable, conspiratorial mind. It doesn't make any sense, not to me. I'm sure it makes sense in your own mind. Anyway, I can't tell you a thing about something I know nothing about. I can only tell you what I know; that's what I'm saying.

Well, Tonya, you keep saying that a change is coming, that people have had a revelation and are all jumping on the colorist bandwagon and that mixed and light-skinned people will soon be relegated to another category. With Kola Boof at the head of the line, it sounded like a movement to me. Otherwise what is the purpose of all of your rants and chants and slogans and mottos. And who is the "we" you always speak of?

There you go again. Conspiratorial mind.

Allow me to edit & repost some of what I said (which agrees with much of what I've always been asying):

Colorism happens to still be the most taboo topic within our community...

so although what Kola is saying is not new... it's never been said.. not out loud..

which is why her WORDS are so powerful (as we all know words can be).

Her WORDS say (READ:SUBLIMINALIZES) what many of us pray they wouldn't:

"IT'S O.K. TO SAY IT OUT LOUD!"

That's why Boof is all powerful....

But, yeah, you're right: Kola Boof IS NOT the voice of black mainstream America...

her words are, however....

You may not like her style/"rhetoric"; but you HAVE TO respect her words.

Because as cold-blooded as they might be..

they are indeed the thoughts of the mainstream.

Scary isn't

_______________________

Even those dark-skinned folks who do not know a thing about Kola.. agree with her perspective and understand her approach; and they've been doing so for a long time. So what I'm trying to get you to understand is, you are the the one who is stubborn, unconventional, and uncompromising. Within our community, Kola's views are mainstream. Yours, on the other hand, are old-fashioned and out-of-touch. Most do not agree with you.

So, you see, it's already been implemented.. already been done.

I didn't ask for a love letter to Kola Boof. So are you now saying that there is a movment? And that a social revolution is on the horizon. And that you will be separating from light-skinned and mixed people? Fine with me. Lots of luck in trying to have an impact on America. All you will do is solidify and unite an opposition to your aggression. You are still in the minority. Even more so without your light-skinned allies. Am I afraid? Hellll, no! LOL

Cynique, you hate our people so much.

That last post proved it. But I sure wish that most were as honest as you are.

Your like an old Confederate Dixie wife on the plantation, hollering at the niggers that they'll

never be free!

And that too, came to pass.

As far as the "Revolution". I am truly not the voice or even the one who will start it.

But I AM one of the ones who is planting the seed.

And I believe that my children and their generation, including your grandchildren and ABM's kids and even Moon's kids, are the ones who will actually begin to implement the changes that people like myself and Tonya and ABM envision.

There was a time when EVERYONE, including the blacks, were against the civil rights movement.

But once they saw that the Black Youth would not rest; would not go away--were becoming more and more Militant and would not back down...until the entire society changed....

EVERYONE began to switch sides. And the new changes were embraced....and almost overnight....the entire way of living in America

changed.

You were here. So you know that I'm telling the truth.

And just like your generation never thought they'd see black men anchoring the news with white women or being allowed to marry white women en masse....

there are other things that you never thought you'd see...that your children will see one day.

Because of me and people like me and people like Tonya and ABM and so many others...who want change.

The revolution of the "authentic blacks" is indeed...going to be authenticated.

And even if no one throws a pale of water over your head, causing you to melt...you can see that.

It's the NEXT step on this evolution from slavery and colonialism.

The Black Race did not come this far to perish.

I just like to make fun of you and your comrads by portraying you as a group of mad niggas huddled together ready to strike, unaware that you are to get your asses blown away by the national guard. LMAO And I still can't figure out why you think I would be jealous of Kola who, by her own admissionis is half crazy and lives in fear of her life. Just for the record, I think her book has a good chance of taking off and - more power to her. But my way registering a protest against her politics is to boycott her book.

Movement: 1) effort by many to achieve something: a collective effort by a large number of people to try to achieve something, especially a political or social reform the civil rights movement 2)people organized to effect change: the people who organize themselves in order to achieve some political or social reform----Encarta ® World English Dictionary.

Revolution: 1) the overthrow of a ruler or political system 2) a dramatic change in ideas or practice ---Encarta ® World English Dictionary.

First of all.. we (authentic blacks) don't give a fuck about having an impact on "America" regarding colorism....

That said..

if the primary social change that's being made.. is people securing the confidence to be honest and UPFRONT about how they view themselves and others.. through education, awareness, knowledge and autonomy..

would you charactorize it as a movement or a revolution?

That's exactly what it is Tonya.

And it's not hard to do AT ALL.

It was nearly done in the 1960's, which is when the real seed was planted. As Marita Golden wrote, it fell apart because it was too radical--the idea that "black" really is beautiful. But they did plant the seed.

What I get Cynnique, is that the rift between the two of us is nothing more than a generational gap.

When I say I'm down with Kola I am not talking about dogs, hoses, sidewalks.. carrying signs on a hot summer's day. (I ain't even down with getting my hair wet or my manolo blahniks scuffed up.) Sweetie if a bunch of ho's shaking their asses (for what has become the very reason for the tragic mulatto's existence) is the measuring stick for my womanhood, then there's no reason for us to separate; the damage has been done: the black woman will NEVER be anything more than what she's been defined to be: the whore, the skank, the golddigger, the slut: the tragic mulatto.

It's about being able to exist as woman, as god created me, not as the white man created me to be.

Well, if it ain't Kola's parrot, squawking the same ol familiar dialogue, the same ol hystrionic rhetoric. There are millions of successful black woman of all complexions who are married, raising families and pursuing successful careers who would dispute your worse case scenario. Have you ever considered that maybe you are not a part of the solution, but a part of the problem. Maybe your personality is your biggest liability. But good luck in maintaining your "authentic" masquerade. And keep a stiff upper lip. You might yet find a white man to marry you. BTW, I'm still curious as to what the game plan is to get rid of the dreaded mullatto ho's. I guess you're just gonna wish 'em away, huh.

Explain what I meant in my last post.

And then we'll see who's part of the solution and who's part of the problem.

You explain what you meant, you said. it. You accused me of being behind the times but you have reached back to dredge up the old emblematic fictional types for defining black women. This is 2006. And you continue to focus on the unsuccessful women of which there are many in all races. It has been said that this is about class as much as color. And it is. Things are going to sort themselves out, independently of your efforts. Time brings change. Who is to say that there won't be a separate authentic black segment of America's population. But it will not be at the downfall of any other group. Mixed and light-skinned people will continue to replicate themselves. And survive.

Cynnique, What? ...Nobody is trying to annihilate them!

We welcome their growth and survival.

We just don't wanna have anything to do with them, that's all.

Your paranoia has got you losing your mind. LOL

Oh stop putting your spin on things, Tonya, and stop deluding yourself into thinking that your faction would even wield enough power to annihilate anyone. And keep in mind that you will not be the only ones glad to get rid of excess baggage. It ain't like there'd be any advantage to being on the same boat with folks who will be trying to stay afloat. LOL Are we done yet? I hope so. I tired of beating this dog to death.
