Question... At what point does one start to open up their options when it comes to dating? How blindly loyal can one be before they realize that what there looking for is looking the other way? I have a friend who's 36 unmarried and is looking for only "sistahs", but always keeps coming up short. Infact he get's hit this sort of statement everytime he makes an attempt " Your such a nice guy, I'd never want to lose you as a friend". He's even been told by some of the ladies he was interested in, that if they are still single by the time they get a certain age they'd marry him. Now, seeing as how I have to hear him bicker and whine about this at least ...um..i'd say once a week (sometimes I won't pick up my phone)... I finally told him he needed to start talking to white girls.
Of course he's against that and he said his mom would have a fit, but you know what ... at 36, I say he needs to forget what his mom's is talking about. Before you all start asking what he looks like and what he does and all that superficial (yet necessary) stuff... he's a teacher and he's not a bad looking dude (due to the guy-code, I'm not saying he's handsome or anything like that... i guess i can say he's no flava flav) he could stand to drop a few pounds and he has the basics (car & crib)... Anyways I am going to set him up with someone that I know, who doesn't meet his racial standards ... but my question is , would you?
and no... I don't no any black women I can hook HIM up with! |

Since black women out number black males about 8 to 1, I really don't buy your claim Doberman.
"Some detail" is missing. Like what kind of "black women" is he expecting to hook up with?
There's so many young, unattached black females in churches, health clubs, beauty parlors, going to the movies in "girl groups", secretariel pools,
He must be looking for Naomi or Halle Berry?
I hear black men make these types of claims, but then you hang around those guys for a few days and you start to see what the real problem is. The guys see themselves as this major catch and they expect the women to be perfect in every way.
Notice, Abm, how they always seem to make it work with a woman of another race.

lol! It takes us approximatly 25 minutes to get to windsor Ontario... some of my other friends suggest that we get him an "escort" cause it's legal there ... and just let him think he finally was able to run some game. I'd feel bad if he caught something though, so we'll see how he does with this white chick I hook him up with. |

lol...he's no quasimodo. he's shy. and he's not half as picky as me. he'll go out with women with kids, they don't even have to be slim... infact what he calls nice and thick, I call fat! he does want them to have a degree ... and of course he wants them to be black...no complextion preference either. I can't help him out in that area, the girls that I know would think he's too old. |

Has he considered placing a personals ad or trying an online dating service? Those seem to be working for some ppl. Has he asked you to hook him up? If he doesn't want to date a white chick, then you probably shouldn't set him up with one. And setting him up with an escort is not a good idea either, because he would be devastated if he found out his friends did that to him. If you can drive to Windsor, ON, then you can drive to Detroit, there's plenty of sistahs there. Just go there over the weekend and hit some clubs and meet some new ppl. That's what I would do. |

PBG, we live in the suburbs just outside of detroit. He does work in predominatly white area, but you know what, I've known since college and he still never was able to seal the deal... he was in the black student union and constantly lost out to other guys... he even got mad at me once for "talking" to this girl he liked from his little group. but there have been white etachers that he works with that have shown some interest. |

i don't think that he's trying to go for any ghetto chicks. they would eat him alive... i can see them scoring some pamper money out of him after the 1st date. *not to say all girls from detroit are ghetto of course, but i'm also not saying that alot of them aren't.
ps... this isn't one of those things, where my friend is really me... i'm dead serious, this is really one of my boys. and i really think he needs to open up his options.
i personally have been to too many places to even consider just one ethnicity ...I'm an eol. |

He's a teacher? I LOVE educated, smart men. If I were single, I'd meet him myself.
However, if he can't find a black girl in DETROIT, I'm beginning to wonder what's wrong with him.
At 36, I wouldn't try the club scene. I wouldn't date fools I met in a club when I was 20. Imagine what kind of mate a person would make if they're in their 30's and still partying all night like their 18.
Churches (or temple/mosque/building of his religion) would be a better bet.
Is Chicago a long drive from Detroit? Kalamazoo?
Maybe there are some national teacher's organizations? |

Act detached and mysterious, modulate his speaking voice to being low and sexy. Trade his car in for a sports model and develop his bedroom skills. And if that doesn't work, find a fat white girl, and tell moms to get over it. |

chicago is a haul... a few of us are going to milwaukee though next month, maybe he'll meet someone there. we're only going there because we've never been there and we have bucks tickets. and i have never been on the train, so that's an added bonus for me. kalamazoo and chicago aren't far from one another but that's some distance driving from detroit.
none of us really go to clubs and stuff like that anymore, he goes to church (yuck)... but he's scared to put an online ad up because he thinks his students will se it.
you don't think that he should just try something different? |

Yeah, that's a good point, babygirl. Women HIS AGE aren't waiting until a "certain age". They already are a "certain age".
25 to 30 year old women (most) are hardly in a rush to get serious. They're still looking for something special. |

There's a LOT of my personal girlfriends who are "Assistant" Professors, radio station workers, journalists and teachers in Detroit.
That city is crawling with educated, pretty sisters who are single, have NO Kids, are cheerful and decent.

Doberman, you don't sound like a real true friend at all.
You keep insisting on the idea of him being with what he says he doesn't want, just because that's up your alley, and you sound like you have a lot of stereotypes and "issues" with black women yourself. Like a white woman is the answer to any and everything.
Why don't you bone Kelly and then get back to being a real buddy to your friend and scope out Detroit?
I happen to know that there's some very pretty single black women who happen to be "light skinned" working at the Black bookstores in downtown Detroit who would love to go on a date with a black male educator.
Scope the black women working in the gift shops at the Detroit Airport. Those are good ones.
Attend a few churches in Detroit. You'll find plenty of attractive, decent, educated black women who are available.
It would be easy for a black male school teacher to find a decent black woman if he really wanted to.
Much easier than finding a willing white woman of the same level.

this is not phoney come on up here, after the super bowl stuff dies out! how many people work in a radio station seriously? there are about 4 major stations in detroit that are strictly black music, detroits poulation has been dwindling each time there have been automtive layoffs, the schools have been reduced each year and those kids are being bused to the burbs and charter schools, before you tell someone what they actually see or know to be true, hold your thoughts. Detroit has wayne state university and university of detroit all the rest of the universities are no where near that city so you want to tell me where all these black women professors are? come here and show me, i have no problems being proven wrong.
are there some single women in detroit, of course genious... theres some in montana too (maybe) but crawling? lol... like i said show me. |

i don't have issues with black women, i like all women, i enjoy women. i am also an excellent friend who hates seeing his boy in such a tired disposition. after years of the same thing, you wouldn't tell one of your friend to consider another alternative? at some point you have to realize people are people, it's cool to have a prefernce but after a certain point, a persons prefernece should be what makes them look forward to the next day right? i can't speak on the church stuff, because that's not something i deal with, but he goes there and he comes up short. i appreciate your suggestions and i have said something to him about some of those ideas you listed, but i guess when it comes down to it... you did the same thing i did.... come up with some extra options. |

I'm sure you like "all women" Rolleyes. You just happened to be attracted to white women. Give me a break! Truth be told You get what you put out. Your friend is not getting a girlfriend because he is not putting anything out. I also find it funny how black men will get with white(non-black women) because they can't find descent black women. But a black woman will go to the ends of the earth to find a black man. She will even put up with a no-good black man. As long as she has her black man. Why don't Black men have that same mentality. |
