Does anyone else besides me feel sorry for her. She is the poster-child for self-hating black women. She reminds me of Dorothy Dandridge who let white men use, abouse & then throw her away. What are your feelings? |

Oh hell yeah! And if you look at that one daughter she has, it seems she was tossed out by a black man before she went to K-fed.
It's a shame she has a son. You know it's self-hating black women who create self hating black sons. Or in her case, self-hating mulatto sons.
Maybe she has "father" issues. |

It ain't that simple. There aren't too many men, black or white, who could resist the chance to pimp a multi-million dollar super star like Brittney Spears. Kevin would probably still be with Char had he not been put in this extrarodinary position. And, for all we know, in the beginning Kevin may have pursued Char and she may have been using him before he hit the jackpot. Cut the sista some slack. |

And, (I think) most people, men in particular, would agree that (in this case) Brit is more attractive and wealthy than Char. |

Yes, Brit is definitely wealthier, no argument there. But her being more attractive is debatable because Char is an exquisite black woman with extraordinary facial features. And where Brit will need her money as she ages, Char's good looks won't crack as badly, if at all. |

It's Shar Jackson and she's much prettier than Brittney. Britney gets unfair points for being white and blond. She's rather plain next to Shar. Shar can also sing Britney under the table.

I agree with both Babygirl & Enchanted. Shar's beauty is much more superior and way more natural than Britney's. BTW, I saw a picture of Britney without her make-up once. She wasn't bad but she wasn't good neither. She looked nothing like the Britney we've come to know. Ain't knock'n her though. Most people look different without their make-up. Shar however doesn't look like she need/wear that much to begin with.

Is the term "self-hating" used more by those (persons) trying to make a valid point, or by those who have a seemingly perpetual grudge - as in possessing low self-esteem? Furthermore, is the term "self-hating" used correctly at all? |

True--and, I guess both Char and Brit were/are too dumb to have seen that obvious character trait/flaw. I know it's not kind, but he even looks like a rat. My girlfriends and I wince whenever he opens his mouth to speak--he's such a bama--plain, white trash.

Nels, I agree that the term "self-hate" has become a catch-all phrase used to stigmatize people and it is too often applied in situations where it is not relevant. The argument can be made that if a person hates the things that cause him misery, then that is because he loves himself too much to want to be a glutton for punishment. And to speak out about black folks who do negative things that set the race back is not a case of self-hate, it's a form of protest. Among those of a certain persuasion, buzz words and code phrases are used to brand mavericks who don't have the herd mentality. |

Self-hating is the loathing that blacks have for themselves. You can have low self-esteem and not be a self-hater. What we see in the black community is a form of self-hatred. Hatred for ones own race,nationality,culture,etc. |

Low-self esteem stems partly from how one's race is viewed by society, serenasailor. The ego is the most powerful force in the psyche and love for one's personal self supercedes one's loyalty to one's cultural identity. What you call self-hate, I call self-disatisfaction. And the desire to eliminate this disatisfaction is motivated by self love. It's your semantics vs. my semantics. |

And you're 100% right. Shar Jackson would be deserted by a Black man as quick as a White one. This is America and her status is black. As a matter of fact, her first child is by a Black man that she said promised to marry her. The last two are K-Feds.
