When I was in high school in the late 80s in Chicago, there was a group of boys called YBP - the Yellow Boy Posse. They were all good looking fair skinned, mixed, or latino. There were a couple of token darkies though. And a couple of ugmos.
When Batman came out, they went to the Hyde Park Theater's midnight showing all wearing matching Batman glitter logo shirts (it wasn't as gay as it sounds, and by gay I mean WACK, most gay men can really dress!). The results? A bloodbath. Another crew called Drexide Posse whooped that ass. It was a complete melee.
Similar events happened for years to come. All this talk of colorism brought back the memory. |
