Nope. You're not. Her dancing reminds me of my days back at Magic City. Not sexy or classy at all, just hoochie. But for some reason I can't stop singing her songs! Check this out for a good laugh...

Beyonce needs REAL SONGS.

She can't stay on top with this drivel they have her singing.

Other than "Say My Name, Say My Name"---I can't think of a single song by her that's a classic Pop hit.

They keep comparing her to Diana Ross and the Supremes....but Diana and Supremes had very intricate well crafted Pop songs by Holland/Dozier/Holland.

Berry Gordy would have never let Diana sing the shit Beyonce sings.

And Dionne Warwick (in the 60's) and Aretha Franklin had the best material, too.

That's why I don't see BEYONCE standing the test of time.

By classic I mean---superior material:

"Respect"

"You Make Me Feel LIke a Natural Woman"

"Do You Know the Way to San Jose"

"Alfie"

"Walk on By"

"Stop IN the Name of Love!"

"Someday We'll Be Together"

"I Hear a Symphony"

BEYONCE needs to get some material.

Quit hatin. Earlier on one of the TV tabloid shows, I saw Beyonce on the set of "Dream Girls", the movie she is starring in with Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy and she was lookin good. I don't know how much better it can get than that.

### Very true. But Beyonce is a marketed item. It's all about the booty and looks. Aretha, Diana and Dionne all have talent and voices. Beyonce does not. All of the aforementioned women have careers spanning more than 40 years. Beyonce will not last that long! Trust me.

I think Elicia Keyes is a very attractive young woman and extremely talented. I heard on the radio about two months ago on a program hosted by the accomplished jazz pianist, Mary McPartland. I was very impressed by her natural talent for lyrical singing and piano playing. She did a number of her own songs and some Marvin Gaye material. I don’t consider her the most gifted vocalist, but she is a very talented stylist who has a lot of appeal.

Elicia is a certified talented artist while Beyonce is all about the booty (which I personally have no problems with) . I’m not putting her down for this because she is using what she has make it in the entertainment world. The recording industry knows how to skillfully market and promote marginal and mediocre talent to the level of super stardom. I’m sure you all know exactly what I mean.

Beyonce CAN sing.

She's sort of dimwitted and can't act---but she can SING.

And with some really good material, she could become a legend--because she's already a superstar.

Diana Ross moved from bubble gum Pop to doing really strong ballads and jazz music, show tunes...(although even Diana's bubble gum was SUPERIOR crafted classics like "You Keep Me Hang'n On")

...but my point is...Beyonce could do REAL songs, put on a Bob Mackie gown and become known for

"great songs".

Beyonce is a pop princess. That's her genre. Leave the good producing and classic renditions to bona fide vocalists like Jill Scott and Diane Reeves. Diana Ross' crossover to jazz and mainstream never brought her any great accolades. Nowadays nobody is really interested in hearing her sing anything but her R&B hits. To me, Alicia Keys is an overrated "package". She doesn't have a strong voice, and her "classical pianist" resume is all hype. She's no more skillful than keyboardists who play by ear. They are the true naturally-gifted artists. IMO.

I agee Kola,

I think Beyounce's problem is that her music needs to mature. It's been what? 7, 8 years since she's been in the business yet her music hasn't changed (though her audience have). I totally agree that she can sing, which is extremely rare in the current pop/r&b climate, so there should be no problem putting her talent to a more matured use.

****************Beyonce is a pop princess.**************

Yeah, Cynnique, but don't you think "pop" is a fad for young people? I think it's time for Beyonce to become more established - you know, legit; and since she's lucky enough to have the talent to do so, why not?

Good production is a MUST for all artists of all GENRES. Pop shouldn't mean crap! If the song's production sucks, the song sucks. It's not like a book where the jacket can suck but inside there's a masterpeice.

And Diana Ross' crossover bought her staying power and tour dates, which is what really brings in the dough. Diana wouldn't have those R&B hits and there'd be no Beyonce at Wimbley or anywhere else if Diana and the Supremes hadn't been Live at the Copa! Those women were revolutionary! Holland/Dozier/Holland, The Funk Brothers, Burt Bacharach and the like, IMO were brilliant. We need a return to good music.

As for Mizz Knowles, she's a pretty girl with pipes. She could be doing so much better. She shouldn't focus solely on her ASSets, because with that much booty in the pants, it will drop lower than Barry White's voice after she has one kid. She's better than that. Ms. Smith (here's where I slip on my specs and in my best school marm voice) says "I give her a C, but she's an A student. Not living up to her full potential!"

I'm not attacking you, but it's that kind of attitude that has made labels feed us garbage instead of the soul food that good music used to be. They think we want it and don't deserve better.

And I agree with Kola. Imagine Beyonce in glittering Mackie sangin' a REAL power ballad (not that horrible Dangerously in Love mess). She'd be unstoppable! Think about it, it worked for Mariah, although she hated it. It's because she began as a somewhat class act that she's still around. And think Whitney before she jumped on the crack wagon. Clive Davis and Tommy Mottola know what makes a real star. Matthew Knowles needs to take a page out of their book.

I think the bigger question though, is how come B's weave is almost always so jacked when her mom does hair? Now that's the REAL crime.

Yeah, I hear ya. I certainly didn't mean to imply that good production wasn't important. It's just that I didn't know that black America was breathlessly waiting for a hooochie mama to emerge from the hip hop ranks to mesmerize us with a new-found persona as a cafe chanteuse plying a feathered fan. Scuse me if I never took Beyonce seriously enough to think that a Bob Mackie dress would turn her into anything other than what she is; a mediocre talent. Is she our great black hope for the main stream? I guess you folks think so. Personally, I like my talent raw and natural, not groomed and re-formatted and over-produced. And I got a feeling that a whole host of people would be just fine if Beyonce never sold out to the blandness of being a supper-club headliner. And to me, Diana Ross is a has-been relegated to small venues. But, that's show biz.

I was also thinking that I wouldn't want her to go as far as selling out.. along the lines of Aretha Franklin, yes; Diana Ross, no.

People dont' really give a shyt about her singing talent. As long as Beyonce stays away from Popeyes and remains weaved-out and soft-spoken, she will stay on top. The industry runs on good looks, and she is a beauty.

She is hoochie ain't she? I guess we all kinda agree on one thing, Beyonce as is, is kinda tired. I HATE to see her dance. I used to strip and I look at her and go, "God that is so extra! Calm down! We get it, you've got a booty!" What's sad is that I can't remember the last time I got really excited about an artist.

I have a band/production company. It's called Steel Vagina. Member in Boomerang when Grace Jones was listing perfume names? She said to Eddie Murphy "Steel Vagina! I bet you know about that don't you?" (Actually he doesn't know about that!)

Everybody else got a record deal, I may as well get one too!

Yeah right, Moon.

Pretty girls come a dime a dozen.

Beyonce could at least shoot for TINA TURNER.

Another hot sex kitten who was SMART ENOUGH to seek out "good material" and reinvent herself as MORE than legs, ass and wild hair.

Tina's music is really ABOUT something.

BEYONCE can be replaced easily. Her beauty is not very "unique". And a lot of her beauty is "baby phat". AND....a younger, more mixed looking soul diva is always in the making.

She had really better get a clue.

Telephone CHER or Madonna or Diana Ross or Barbra Streisand or Tina Turner....

WOMEN who've reinvented themselves times over

...and figure out how to make her career last.

Trust me....NEW PUSSY trumps all other pussy. So she'd better learn how to make it SEEM new.

And out of the current crop...

Fantasia is the BEST SINGER there is right now. Although Mary J. has superior material and is really at her apex with this new CD....I still think that Fantasia can be made into something.

They just have to figure out what to do with her.

Streisand--the biggest female star of all time--is not a beauty, but she found her "uniqueness".

Fantasia just needs a visionary behind her.

ANYBODY can be a superstar...if they've got the right game plan and someone with power to put them out there. Fantasia has Clive Davis and Simon Cowell---and the best voice out there. I still am betting on her.

Kola,

I understand the point you are making, however, young women nowadays have a totally different mindset than women around my age and your age--especially the entertainers. Also, there is so much "crossing over" that entertainers can now sing, dance, act in movies, and create clothing lines, perfumes, etc. etc. Unless a singer/musician is a TRUE singer/musician, most likely, one will see them branch out and sell their "image" in other areas--and consumers love it. Look at Tyra, Oprah, Jessica Simpson, Mary Kate and Ashley, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, P.Diddy, and 50 cent--they all market themselves.

Beyonce doesn't need to reinvent her music, because music is not the end of the road for her--as her rump shakin' was just a stepping stone into fashion and ultimately, incredible wealth.

Love Fantasia. Love Mary. Like Beyonce. But I think she will have to reinvent herself one day. My boy always says - Ain't no pussy like new pussy. And men run the industry. Oh yeah, and Kola & Moon, let's just smile in our wisdom that these "young girls" these days, will eventually be our age. And let's hope they get smarter not just older.

Have you all noticed though the Beyonce clones: Teirra Mari & Rhianna?

And do you think that if Aaliyah were still with us, that she'd be the reigning diva? I for one adored her. She had a sweet gentle way about her. And she was smooth, sexy and classy. I really miss her. She, Mary J., and Faith are the only women whose entire catalogs I own.

I hope it doesn't mean what I think it does. I still have a baby face because, though I have a thin frame, I have fat (high) cheeks and a round/full face. Does this mean that once I lose my "baby phat"...

Tell me it ain't so!!!

Beyonce is probably one of the most talented singers around right now in the industry. You can't say that her music is garbage because it doesn't appeal to you... If you like Jill Scott, fine... but Beyonce doesn't do NeoSoul... You like the material that the Supremes sang about, fine... but we are not in the 60's... Her music is geared towards young adults. Pop Culture... Maybe you all haven't realized but Beyonce has officially been in the business for 10 years now... She's only come out with one solo album, so who is to say what we can expect from her next. She's a writer, producer, singer, somewhat of an actress, let's see how her latest movies turn out first... and she is an entreprenuer... She has her own clothing line, and she endorses Tommy Hilfiger perfume, as well as L'Oreal... That is one hard workin, bad ass Bitch! Some of us can't even handle one job. If you want you can go to www.beyonceworld.net and see the video of her performing Proud Mary for Tina Turner at the Kennedy Center Honors... Standing Ovation.... I can't remember the last time I seen a performance from Beyonce where everyone didn't stand up at the end. She killed the National Anthem a few years ago at the Super Bowl.... Way better than Whitney's version, I can tell you that. She is respected in the industry... She is known all over the world... She's a part of the biggest selling girl group of all time... She already has like 9 or 10 Grammies, and this year she's nominated for another 6 or 7... What more do you want from her. So she makes money off her looks, the point is she has the talent, drive, and brains to pull everything together... I'm sure if she wasn't smart, there is no way she would be able to pull off the magic tricks that she does....
STOP HATIN'!!!
