Oprah should have won instead. What the hell has Farrakhan ever done to better anyone's life... This is some bullshit if you ask me... But don't blame BET, blame the dumbasses that voted for him on BET.com...

BET... (scratching my head)... are they still even in business?

Anyhoo, Farrakhan winning this award is meaningless....

Don't sweat.

Considering %60 of their programming is music videos, one can guess those voters where a bunch of 15-19 year-olds who probably voted for the name most familiar to them.

Edenson:

There are several thousand people in the Nation of Islam who at least think he has bettered their lives particularly the brothers who converted in jail or from the streets and when you talk with a man who is clean cut, wearing a suit and doesn't swear or drink or smoke you at least have to think about it. There are residents of high crime areas that swear by their efforts when they are handling security there. There are many black celebrities who had to call on the NOI to guard them when they fell out with our good white citizens--Spike Lee was in danger of having the teamsters shut down his movie Malcolm X until he hired the NOI as security.

There are plenty of black activists and spokes men who are glad he is a lightning rod for racist resentment who would be on the front line getting kicked in the teeth if some people weren't worried about the NOI--maybe even Ms Winfrey.

The fact that he was chosen says a whole lot about the paucity of so called leadership in the black community, the correct assumption on the part of youth that other so called leaders are so bought and paid for they can't even SAY what they need to say, and the complete contempt that the younger set has for the so called betters.

The fact that you would suggest that a talk show host whose audience is primarily insipid, fat, sick, self absorbed, neurotic suburban white women whose husbands are making life miserable in this country for working class and lower class people--to wit: an electric Aunt Jemima or High Tech Mammy, speaks volumes in itself.

No disrespect, but I cannot even hear his name without my mind going to the hilarious In Living Color skit take off of Star Trek, "Wrath of Farrakhan."

Well, you're right about Farrakhan changing peoples lives, but he's a blind man leading the blind into a bottomless pitt of false hope. Lets face it, he's taking the nation into the direction that he wants. He probably doesn't even believe the shit he says. Oprah might be a mammy to you, but she has helped out the black community a lot. Person of the year should go to Oprah who helped people all the way in Africa, and not to mention her contributions with the aide of the Hurricane Katrina victims... On the other hand where was Khan when those people needed help... Probably in Africa somewhere having a great time with his Arab friends......
FUCK FARRAKHAN

Okay Edenson,

I believe in everyone having their own opinion, it is your right, but tell me this "what has this man done to you for you to spew such hatred, and curse his name, and literally disrespect him bc a so-so TV station awards him a prize that you don't deem befitting, if anything you should be cursing the station and not him....makes no sense to me...no worry about Oprah, she gets her just due from all of America and she doesn't need anyone telling her what a fine job she did BET or otherwise.

people cuss because they can't communicate what they want to say. so the utterance of a filfthy word comes out to decribe the limit of their knowledge, upbringing, fustration and understanding of life. You should only describe your opinion about Farrakhan if you know him personaly or if you have a good understanding of his full and complete message and goals. .....and stop lying you know you dont know nothing about this man. You are probably either a helper of Farrakhan's enemies (the same enemy of God and the Christ) or you are completely dumb, deaf and blind to what he is all about. Thank you.

An overwhelming percentage of our users agreed that Minister Farrakhan made the most positive impact on the Black community over the past year and chose him as the person most worthy
..........so you are too much of a minority to even pay attention to anyway .....the majority of us (black intelligent people) voted right .......remember majority rules!......so if you spew hatred and fustrated words on this message board that is just about all you can do .....its been Proven that you can't win in a civilized vote .......LOOSER....(laughs)

Majority may rule, but that doesn't mean the majority is always right. Please, the only reason Farakhan was voted person of the year was because of that million bullshit march that he did again this year.... Were there even a million people in attendance this time around... I don't know... but honestly, if you ask any person my age who Farrakhan is, I guarantee that most likely they wouldn't be able to tell you too much about him. And if he was so good then why are so many believers in the nation of islam so disgusted with him. The people that do stick with him aren't there because they believe in him, they're just tryin to be loyal, just in case....... It's like going to a church for years, then your pastor dies one day. You're not really feeling the new pastor but you decide to stay anyway just because you've been there so long, you would feel lost if you left.... Right now, Farrakhan is living off of a bunch of lost souls. O yea... I curse whenever the fuck i want to so get over it... it's a message board.
