Clarence Thomas is an Authentic Black.
The Authentic does not mean "angel".
It simply means REAL, definitive and actual.

Authenticity has nothing to do with "character".
I'm sure there are White women who love black children more than Condoleeza Rice does.

What would you think if blackness could actually be considered an abstract science? A condition, an impression, a summarization, a way of conducting one's self, an interpretation, etc.? In digesting the contexts of many of the postings on these boards, it would appear that blackness has taken on an appearance of precision, thus my original question. Just curious about your perspective. |

Whether Alan Keys and Clarence Thomas are sell outs or not---they are still Authentic Black People with deep chocolate skin, African hair and African features.
Lenny Kravitz is NOT authentically black, he is Half White (went on to procreate with a Non-black woman) and is more culturally aligned with whiteness and his Jewishness than he is with blackness.
He pays lip service to black people, "talks black", etc.
His biological non-blackness is no different than Clarence Thomas's social/political non-blackness.
BOTH men represent the White Supremacist aesthetic.

The AMERICAN ideals of what is black are going to suffer greatly now that the larger Black World is finally having a say---and as well, many Black Americans are breeding/morphing themselves OUT of the race.
They do this because they have TRADITIONALLY believed in the "one drop makes you black" rule. They have the silliest idea that their white-looking offspring will want to be called "black" and will identify with black....and it's not happening. Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Beals, Mariah Carey, Tiger Woods, Vin Diesel are proving that left and right.
Not everybody with black blood...is black.

Because although all of history is shaped by conflict among various groups, ways in which groups articulate similar ideas, such as blackness and whiteness, are different. As they say, race is a social construct. Well, if this is true, and I believe it is, then particular groups and cultures will view the same word differently. |

The core difference is that only genuine WHITE images are used to portray whiteness. This is simply NOT the case with blackness. |

Lets get down to the nitty gritty....Rosa Parks, as we know, is recently deceased. We know her as the "Mother of the Civil Rights Movement." Historically speaking, we also know that she was not the first person to refuse to resist segregated busing. And, in fact, her case was chosen by E.D. Nixon because her propriety was, according to whites, unquestionable....We know this!

I agree with you 100% Kola Boof. But the only problem I have is that you can't keep singling these ppl out and saying that they are not black. Now I personally don't consider the quadroons, and octoroons black. But I think that it is not there faults that they have the slave-masters features. Now whether they want to claim that they are black that is on them. But I will agree with the fact that please don't make these ppl the standard for black society. Actually, I would rather look at them as the exception. Especially, when the majority of black men still love and cherish black women. |

The majority seek out the lightest women they can find and most of their mates are yellow to light brown.
If they can dump those and get a latina or white woman, they often do.
