If you could choose, would you still be black? I personally would not, in this world that we live in. Life would be far easier if I were white or possibly Asian. If I had to be black, I'd choose to be a very light-skinned black who could pass for white. It would be far easier than having the ebony black skin that I have.

It is. Lolo is the latest incarnation of you-know-who; a character who is placid and prim, the antithesis of igbogirl. snicker.

In the picture posted that was supposed to be of this NY Times' star reporter, Lolo's skin didn't look ebony to me.

If you are who you claim to be then it's sad that you have so many identity issues. You've achieved a lot more than most people with white or yellow skin.

You may not be pimply, but the forehead of the girl in the picture is and she needs her eyebrows arched.

If you knew my family's many accomplishments, you wouldn't think I had achieved that much at all. I haven't, compared with my cousins, my father, my uncles...

We have a saying in Yoruba: Oye mi imo akan owomo iyela

It translates as:

Fair skin is always fresher and better

If Africans are SOOOOO proud of being Black, and the blacker the better and more AUTHENTIC, then why would they have such a saying that essentially praises the White man?
