SPRING SEMESTER 2007 COURSE STUDY:
"The Trial of Kola Boof"
Writer/Professor Derrick Bell is going to make Kola Boof the subject of a "course study" for law students at N.Y. UNIVERSITY this spring.
In a mock legal trial--students will have to hear Instructor Derrick Bell argue a fictional "libel" case in which Kola Boof sues TV GUIDE and The N.Y. POST for falsely labeling her a "sex slave" which led her to be fired from the NBC soap "Days of Our Lives".
In real life, Boof declined to bring any legal action against the press for "behind the scenes events" that led to her suffering public shame and losing her job and other lucrative offers, but Professor Bell, who is recognized as one of the nation's top legal attorneys, believes that Boof had a very strong case for "defamation" and "libel" and would like to use the Law School to demonstrate how she has been disrespected and lied on by the press all the way around).
THE CASE:
Though Boof was a ghostwriter at "Days of Our Lives" (meaning her presence was to be secret), TV GUIDE "outed" Boof's employement at the soap, which was followed by the N.Y. POST printing an interview with Boof that she never gave--the novelist kept a tape recording of the actual interview that she did give, none of which was printed by the newspaper. A huge and very derogatory FULL PAGE photograph story was printed on PAGE 3 of the Sunday edition (you see Page 3 as soon as you open the paper) where the newspaper took the head of Osama Bin Laden and superimposed it over the head of t.v. character BO BRADY as the Bin Laden cartoon stood next to HOPE BRADY--a major turn off for long time viewers of the soap who flooded NBC with telephone calls asking for the "sex slave" to be fired. Next to this photo was a very provocative shot of Kola Boof sitting behind her boss Stephen Wyman's desk with "digitally enhanced" super-cleavage and her head thrown back in a wicked laugh. In subsequent story items by the POST Boof was falsely printed as calling herself a "sex slave" and quoted as "creating" characters for the show that supposedly resembled Bin Laden (Boof was not Head Writer and therefore could not create characters for the show). BOOF's interview with the POST was totally fabricated, but went on to be published in more than 100 outlets around the world and kicked off an avalanche of gossipy stories about the author, in which her "name" was joked about, the fact that she was "raped" was joked about, the safety of she and her children was joked about, and though Kola Boof was not the one who initially revealed her involvement with Osama Bin Laden (the London Guardian threatened to out her, evidence of which remains in print in their archives), she continued to be portrayed by the media as a "golddigging" "attention-seeking" "dishonest" black woman who "DOESN'T EXIST".
*Kola Boof WILL NOT appear at anytime at N.Y. UNIVERSITY for the mock "defamation" trial--a student will be picked to play Kola.
Ms. Boof has said that she isn't a person who believes in lawsuits and feels that she would have lost precious energy that can be better applied to a myriad of other battles she is engaged in.
Kola Boof, who is a single mother, says she receives hate mail and death threats daily from Arab-Muslim groups, Anti-Abortion groups, Black men, Interracial couples, Anti-Gay groups and many others, therefore she has to remain focused and private in taking care of her two children.
Kola Boof expects to enter a publishing collaboration with her friend, publishing tycoon ZANE in 2007 among other projects.

Derrick Bell, a long time supporter and close friend of Kola Boof's, made international headlines himself in 1992 by HARVARD LAW SCHOOL for refusing to end a two-year leave (Sit-Out) in which he protested the absence of minority women on the law faculty.
In the 1950's, Bell worked diligently as a civil rights worker for the U.S. Justice Department and later found himself drafted to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund by none other than Thurgood Marshall.

Well for some unexplainable reason everywhere she goes men erect a shrine to her. Troy Johnson erected the Kool Room so that Abm could have SPACE to erect and now Derrick Bell is erecting at N.Y. University. For my tastes she could go back to Africa and take you with her.

Hold up. Isn't Nafisa supposedly a book publisher? Why would she come here to announce some "news" about how Kola Spoof is "expected to enter" a publishing collaboration with her friend, publishing tycoon ZANE in 2007? Don't you have Kola under "contract?" Where does this publishing deal between Kola and Zane leave you Nafisa? Are you going to get a piece of this lucrative pie? Do tell. Maybe then you can stop being so cheap and issue a press release when you have "news" instead of posting it here.

I just received my award out in Oakland, had a disastrous string of bullshit delayed flights from America West(the World's Worst Airline??), and sold out every copy I brought to the tables within twenty minutes. But you don't see me bragging about it, do you?

Thanks Schakspir - I agree that it's not appropriate to blow your own horn about every event that happens to you, unless you have no class - and we all know the deal on that. Wouldn't the new publisher (Zane) be the one to announce the impending arrangement? And if her books are doing so fantastical the way she brags about, why does she need Zane? Didn't Kola say she's independently wealthy from her writing career. LOL! |

Mzuri, we're only aware of Schakspir's American Book Award because Kola Boof bragged about it and started three threads about it. LOL! As I've said before my distaste for Kola is "Topical" but you, Cynique and Schakspir's hatred for her is "personal" and at times like now seems way over the top. Dont respond to me just read your posts back to yourself slowly. You and Schakspir do sound jealous. Sorry, you do. Now watch Schakspir come flying in to acuse em of being Nafisa and Kola.

How do you figure you can classify your own hatred as topical, but everyone else's as personal? What really happened was that Schakspir mentioned that he was nominated for the book award here on this forum, and then Kola started a thread about it over on the lit board. I don't even hate Kola and I'm not jealous, since she has nothing to be envious of. She's an unwed babymomma who can't keep a steady gig because she can't get along with people, her writings are garbage, she's unattractive and her personality is whack. She's too weak to just come here and post as herself, trying to pretend that she's too busy - so she creates online alter egos to trash this place all to hell.
I am simply questioning why an author (or their "publisher") would announce the pending collaboration with a new publishing house, especially after Zane denied all of this just a few days ago (over on the lit forum). And I'm also questioning why a publishing house would use free web hosting. Anytime a professional business uses free hosting, it reflects poorly upon their credibility. Both of those are valid questions.
Now Enchanted, if you will please read my post ever so S-L-O-W-L-Y, perhaps you will realize that I'm accusing N-A-F-I-S-A of being K-O-L-A. LOLOL! |
