Some have predicted a crime wave of proportions that have not been seen in many years this Xmas.

Use caution when doing your Xmas shopping and celebrating.

It would be better if you put it all off until after December 25th--by then it will have spent itself and all this garbage will be much cheaper anyway.

If you cannot, use caution and common sense.

Do not go out shopping alone if you can help it. If you are alone do your shopping early in the day. Avoid running to these stores at night.

Do not leave packages in the car where somebody sees them--it would be better if, after making a purchase you went straight home with it. If you can't do that put your stuff in the trunk, park as closely to the entrance of the store/mall as you can, If your purchase is big see if the store mall will provide an escort or somebody to put the thing in the car for you.

Watch out for holiday charity scams. Follow all the usual rules for driving, parking, going out, etc.

Avoid taking the same route places. Be wary of your surroundings. Note all strangers and what they are doing.

Gee thanks, Santa Clueless. What would the people on this board do without to give them the benefit of your simple-minded advice. You forgot to tell us to wear our mittens so our fingers won't get cold.

You'd be surprised at how much common sense isn't so "common". Every year here, we get countless news stories of people's cars getting broken into as they're parked at a mall after having left another one.

My choice: don't buy Christmas gifts. By gifts for people as you think of them. Why wait to buy someone a gift just one time a year.....it's more affordable that way, too.

And you'd be surprised at how many people have no sense at all.

I don't think anybody who comes to this board needs to be told what is so obvious. And, of course, people are entitled to celebrate Christmas anyway they choose to. To each his own.
