Prince Bringing Purple Reign to Vegas
By Associated Press

November 1, 2006, 8:20 PM EST

LOS ANGELES -- Prince fans, fire up that Little Red Corvette and head for Las Vegas: the purple one will be performing there every weekend starting Nov. 10.

The diminutive rocker will play Friday- and Saturday-night shows at 3121, a nightclub inside the Rio hotel, spokeswoman Alissa Kelly said Wednesday.

Tickets for the 21-and-over shows cost $125 and will be available beginning Nov. 2.

Prince will also host Wednesday-night concerts at the club by other artists.

The Grammy winner, who once changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol, will perform at the club indefinitely, Kelly said.

Prince joins a growing contingent of songsters who have settled in Vegas hotels as regularly featured acts, including Celine Dion, Elton John, Barry Manilow and Toni Braxton.

Damn, I wish I lived closer to Vegas. The first concert I'd ever attended was a Prince concert. I'd been a fan of his ever since. He really knows how to put on a show!

I only went to Vegas once and swore I would never step foot there again. But now... I might have to go!

I hope the Vegas mantra also applies to the club ("What happens in 3121 stays in 3121") cuz I'd hate for my children to be embarassed by the behavior of thier mamma re-living her high school and college days! LOL!

P.S. You think this means he's short of cash?

Eat your heart out, Michael Jackson! There, but for a penchant for boy-toys and plastic surgery, go you. And at the ticket price of $125 a pop, the Prince we all know and love better show up instead of the Jehovah's Witness convert, introducing a lot of new self-indulgent stuff.

Y - I don't think Prince will ever be short of cash. Not because of all the money that he's made but because from what I can tell he is an extremely sensible person. Although he may spend lavishly, I don't believe he's the type who wastes their money. I think he just might be at the point in his career/life where he just wants a stable gig. He may have gotten tired of traveling around the world doing all those concerts and staying in the strange hotels, eating road food, and such. That lifestyle can get old quick. There in Vegas he can establish a stable comfortable home, do his shows a couple of nights a week and get his groove on the rest of the time.
