I'm a minimalist; I love assertions that are concise and succinct. Which is why when a riddle I had never heard before came to my attention, I was blown away. To me, it so totally summarizes an aspect of life. Just like another little philosophical gem that resonates with me in its belief that:"Life is the question, and love is the answer", or another favorite of mine suggesting how "life is a journey that is homeward bound". I am also charmed by the profound symbolism in the simple little ditty that advises to "Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream." But I digress. The riddle which hooked me is as follows. It was new to me, - but what do I know? Maybe its answer is a familiar one to others. What the heck. It's a slow day on the board. zzzzzzz
What is it that the poor have, the rich want, and God fears?
I'll supply the answer later if no one comes up with it. |
